Description

Born and raised on a remote farm in South Africa, Elisabeth Pieterse, a young, naive trainee nurse meets Dion Du Toit, a wickedly handsome salesman whose suave exterior hides a monster within that she discovers only after their wedding.

His addictions, adultery and insatiable desire to be in the limelight turn their lives into a roller coaster of erotic highs and death-defying lows leaving leading psychiatrists confused and Elizabeth shattered.

She knows instinctively that if she wants to stay alive it is safe to remain with him.

Finally, in a courageous but ill-advised attempt to quickly resolve her company's financial problems, caused by Dion, Elizabeth then fails to answer the one telephone call that would have changed the course of the life forever.

Advance Praise

"Once I got into this book I couldn't put it down. The story follows the life of young and innocent trainee nurse, Elizabeth Pieterse, as she is seduced into marriage by a man called Dion Du Toit. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. I was left reeling at some points on Elizabeth's journey. Flummoxed as to why she made the decision she did. And if I hadn't known from the start that her story was real I would have called the whole thing out as a crazy stretch of Diana K Robinson's imagination. But Elizabeth's story is real. And Robinson transports the reader to a rural South Africa that is as rich in its splendour and beauty as it is in the harsh reality of a relationship filled with domestic abuse and violence. Hey Netflix... this would make a great film!

Young, naïve Elizabeth is pulled into a relationship with smooth-talking, suave, Dion Du Toit, which opens up her world to a life full of chilling events.

Who Are You? Is a story based in South Africa, around the life of Elizabeth, as she learns the scary reality of living with a psychopath. Although the book rotates around Elizabeth and Dion’s relationship, the author beautifully immerses the reader into the South African landscape and culture; but don't be afraid to pick up this book if you think it will talk in languages or reference things you don’t know about, Diana Robinson does a superb job of explaining every slang that appears.

I found myself awfully frustrated with poor Elizabeth at times, which just proves the things we do for love. Elizabeth's story is so incredible, even more so because it is based on truth, and I couldn’t help the frightening shiver that ran up my spine when I finished the book. No spoilers here! But the ending had me literally shaking my head, goose bumps rising along my arms.

A really unique and intelligent story. I can’t explain some of this story. You must read it. Absolutely fantastic xx

Based on the cover and the blurb, this story was nothing at all like I expected it to be but I wasn't disappointed.
From the start I liked Elizabeth and felt like I could really sympathize with the horrible way her life turned out.
She had so much thrown at her but she still came out th other side as a much stronger person.
I found the last 5/6 chapters did drag a little bit for me, but I found the rest very easy to read and I didn't want to put it down.

A thought provoking and insightful look at just what it means to be in love and what we do because of it. The main protagonist, Elizabeth at times is so frustrating with the choices she makes, but it it's part of the books time as even though she makes some really poor choices, she's so likable and relatable.

This was a great read. It was so tense. I couldn't put it down but I was regularly afraid to read on, dreading what was going to happen next. Robinson really has a gift of drawing the reader in and keeping them hooked right up until the last page. While Elizabeth allowing herself to get sucked in by Dion was questionable, so many women have succumbed to such evil characters in the past and many have not lived to tell their tale. I really enjoyed this read and I think it will appeal to all who like psychological thrillers and who enjoy hanging off the edge of their seat!!

Elisabeth Pieterse is a young and naive nurse born and raise in South Africa. One day she meets Dion Du Toit, a handsome salesman she cannot help but fall in love with.

After their wedding, Elisabeth discovers Dion’s real personality -a manipulative, scary at best, monster.

Will she take the step to get out of the marriage or will she let love confuse her into staying?

This was one of those of book that I wasn’t sure whether I’d like when I started it but I was already hooked a few pages in.

The narrative is well written, concise, and visual. I could see the beautiful imagery of South Africa as I was reading it despite of the fact that I have never been there.

The juxtaposition of characters falls perfectly into place. Good against evil, love against hatred. I fell frustrated at times with the choices Elisabeth made sometimes, but that is why this book is so good -it reminds you that wanting to see the best in people will sometimes blind you.

Based on true events, you will have to keep reminding you that this is not some sort of fabricated story the author came up with! be prepared to feel tension, suspense, and even fear when you read it!

From the first to the last page I was hooked. A psychological thriller which I found very hard to put down. Glued to my seat and constantly holding my breath. A thought provoking insight of being in love and what we are prepared to do. A gripping domestic noir, the only fault I found was the book was too long. I felt the last four chapters were not needed. Otherwise I would have awarded this book five stars.
