I recently picked back up on the keto lifestyle after being on an embarrassingly long carb binge (thank you covid 19, and unexpected house repairs/remodel), The easiest way for me to get back on track is dirty keto because it isn't as strict as regular keto. I am thankful for Real Good Foods and Quest pizzas and other foods that make it easy for me to get healthier food in my body when I am in a hurry, but I also need some quick recipes for at home when I want something a little homemade and have time to be in the kitchen. There are so many great recipes in The Dirty, Lazy, Keto Dirt Cheap Coobook. This cookbook is a great place to start for newbies, or people who fell off the wagon, or people who have a hard time sticking to 100% clean foods. These are still great and healthy alternatives that will help you lose weight or just feel more energetic or better about yourself for treating your body better.

I'm a big fan of Stephanie Laska's Dirty Lazy Keto cookbook so i was very excited to get the cheapo version. True to title the recipes are delicious and cheap- and we all know it's not that easy to eat cheaply while doing keto. This book delivers!

What I loved about this cook book: the author used it successfully to lose her own weight, The neat symbols implying it’s for “picky eaters”, “makes extra” etc...(although seeing those logos in the contents BEFORE the code was confusing at first), and the triangle breakdown in the beginning was so helpful to me because I’m a visual learning and that really made it clear to me. The recipes are delicious and easy to follow. Highly recommend to anyone who’s starting Keto.

This was a fun cookbook with recipes that, while I haven't tried yet, look amazing. I will be looking forward to buying a physical copy of the book so I can test out the recipes more.

Perfect for someone interested in starting Keto. The little symbol key is great and the recipes look good. I like that fact that these recipes really are cheap to try, they don’t just claim to be.

I have been doing the low-carb way of eating for the last couple of years so I feel pretty well-versed in the area of foods to eat. This cookbook was amazing because it takes simple foods that most people have in their refrigerators and/or cabinets & uses them to make appetizing and appealing foods. My only problem I had with the book was that I wish each recipe had a picture with it but the pictures that were included were awesome! Loved that each recipe had nutritional information including Net Carb count with the recipe!! I also loved the variety of recipes included in the book!

Thank you to the publisher, Adams Media & Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and unbiased review! GREAT & USEFUL low-carb cookboo!

This is a perfect book for anyone looking for cheap but still effective ways to eat healthy and tasty.
I never was on KETO diet, but I was aware of it being expensive and complicated. This book completely changed my mind. I loved author's intro about her struggles with weight and overall explanations what is KETO and tips and tricks she shared from her personal experience.
I definitely marked some recipes to try them out.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.

First off - I love Stephanie Laska. Her no nonsense approach to weight loss and Keto works for me. Second off - I'm cheap. I like how this book lays out costs and is very realistic. No crazy, hard to find ingredients that will end up hidden in the depths of your cabinet after you try one recipe. Last - I'm a full time working mother. When I get home I don't want to do anything complicated. The recipes in this book are straight forward and easy to make.

I can almost guarantee I'll buy a physical copy of this book for my collection.

Eye catching cover.... you had me at lazy and cheap. Keto is a diet based on eating high fat foods and this author gives it to you on the cheap and dirty side. I found this to a fantastic budget based keto friendly recipe guide. Kudos to a great book!

What did I like? I base my decision on how many recipes I would love to try... this looks like a phenomenal recipe book. I bookmarked a ton of pages from breakfast all the way to drinks. Keto may be a diet but it sure isn’t a hardship to eat that way. I loved it. The book is simplistic and not only dies it give you the cost of the meal but a ton of information for every recipe.

Would I recommend or buy? I would love a copy just for the simplicity. I’m pretty lazy when it comes to cooking and thoughts of saving money is a plus too. The only negative is I need more pictures... but the style of the book was attractive. Also some of the recipe titles were a little crazy... just saying. Still looks like a fabulous book.

I received a copy to read and offer an opinion. Four stars! Loved it.

The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO Dirt Cheap Cookbook is a new tutorial and recipe collection for frugal keto cooks. Due out 15th Sept 2020 from Simon & Schuster on their Adams Media imprint, it's 224 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

The introduction covers the basics of the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to, pantry lists and shopping tips, along with an inspiring author background bio. She emphasizes that it's not necessary to spend a ton of money and track every mouthful to be successful at weight loss and maintenance. I found her encouraging and you-can-do-it style of writing engaging and fun. There's also a short, concise subchapter on food handling and safety, which was welcome.

The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, soups & salads, snacks, pizza, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts & drinks. The table of contents lists each recipe along with symbols giving a visual guide to different real-life situations (recipes for "hangry" moments, for picky eaters, lacto-ovo vegetarian-ish dishes, superstar keto dishes etc - quite humorous but also *true*).

Ingredient measurements are supplied in American standard measurements only. There's a conversion chart for metric measures in the appendices. The prep costs, net carbs, servings, prep-time and tips and options are listed in well laid out sidebars. The ingredients are listed in a bullet list followed by step by step directions. The author does recommend real-world timesavers like using premade taco powder (she gleefully informs us that she'll make her own as soon as she's done making butter from her grass fed pet cow). Allied recipes (included) are referenced in the recipes to save time by using leftovers from one recipe in another recipe. The recipes are drawn from a surprisingly broad number of world cuisines - Asian, southwestern, Tex-Mex, Cajun, European, etc.

Inspiring real life quotes and thoughts are highlighted in yellow in the text, giving readers an extra little boost. Some readers might find the cheerleading over the top, but I found the author's voice very encouraging and friendly. I found myself thinking "wow, she really gets it".

This really felt like a keto-friendly cookbook for me: short on time/money, impatient with impossible-to-source "weird" ingredients, and cooking for myself and a family of non-keto eaters. I found it impressive and pretty easy to follow. A small real-life occurrence - my endocrinologist said at my last visit I was his ONLY patient who had actually gone DOWN in weight since lockdown. That made me feel good.

Five stars. I really liked this one. One codicil, there are very few pictures included in the book. The dishes and serving suggestions which are included are attractive and appropriate, however.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

I have all the Laska's previous "Dirty Lazy" books and have loved them. This one is another winner. Have been doing keto going on 2 years and have had great success and the Laska's books have been a huge help in that endeavor. I tried about 15 recipes out of this book and loved them all. Some favorites were the Artichoke dip, Cucumber Salad, the wedge salad, Pork Fried Rice and the Peso Queso Casserole. Can't wait to add this hard copy of my collection.

I love the premise of this cookbook. I’m new to the idea of keto and this cookbook made it so easy for me to understand and see as obtainable! I loved that this isn’t hardcore keto but exactly the kind of keto cookbook I was looking for.

Quick and easy recipes. Easy to use. Exactly what I needed to understand and make work with my lifestyle. Lots of vets and protein recipes. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get going with low carb without breaking the bank.

I'm on a low-carb diet and often delve into KETO, so this has been cool and helpful to pick up and get some new ideas from. There are some really tasty options here, and some creative meals to be had in the realm of a ketogenic diet, hopefully more people buy this and see that there's more than just a pile of cheese and meat.

If I go back to keto I will be using this book as my ‘bible’. Delicious recipes with detailed nutritional information using easily found, less expensive ingredients preparation and cooking times also given which I always find helpful, and extra tips and options given for many of the recipes.. Photographs are very appetising and loads and loads of yummy sounding recipes. The author proves it works by having lost over ten stones herself. This is a particularly useful book for those living in North America. I am in the Uk so some of the ingredients are not readily accessible for me , but still enough recipes that I could use so would definitely still buy this book.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to review a digital copy of this excellent book.

Good info on keto with a lot of recipes, but not many pictures. Creative names. Easy ingredients and mostly easy recipes. Breakfast, soups and salads, snacks, pizza, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts offer many different types of recipes to try. A good book of easy keto recipes to have on hand.

Author Stephanie Laska has written a number of books and The DIRTY LAZY KETO DIRT CHEAP COOKBOOK focuses on the very affordable end of the keto spectrum. There is definitely an audience for this book. Laska already realizes the wide appeal of dirty lazy keto, meaning an approach that only tracks net carbs rather than a whole host of other factors. No question it is easier and more straight forward. If Laska is any example, dirty keto works over the long term; she has used it for ten years and maintained her weight loss. The cookbook is filled with useful recipes that family members not on keto can enjoy. She focuses on everyday ingredients that we all use. I found the recipe names annoying and almost Depression Era-like. But that would be my only criticism and it seems picky of me. There really isn’t a brain-free version of keto but this cookbook gets pretty close. At least it gets a keto diet close to maintenance within a regular lifestyle. It’s a great addition for interested cooks and dieters.I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

**I received and voluntarily read an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

The author's relationship with her weight (and included pictures!) made this book a lot more accessible than most of the cookbooks that I've picked up recently. Already a promising start!

I've heard about the keto diet for years, but every time I thought about approaching it, the cost was always so expensive that I never could have afforded it. This is a true guide to help you try the keto diet in an affordable and approachable way.

One of the best things in the book, and proof that Laska understands that we aren't all rich- the recipe for boxed wine sangria. She points out that "two buck chuck" is perfectly acceptable since your mixing it with other ingredients anyway.

Great recipes (especially the sangria!), and something I can see myself using fairly often.

As someone new to Keto, I found this recipe book a great asset to my repertoire!! This book is educational, full of recipes that are useful especially to a newbie to Keto like me!! I can't wait to work my way through the recipes!!

This has some great, easy recipes. Just started experimenting with this lifestyle and it's interesting. This book stands out because it is, as it says, LAZY (meaning easy). You need no fancy gadgets for these recipes, easy to understand, and easy to make!

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The Dirty Lazy Keto cookbook is a fantastic cookbook for dieters looking for a pretty straightforward, easy to use keto cooking and recipes.

The book starts out with a background on the author and how she discovered the dirty, lazy keto cooking and then goes on to explain what it is, how it works, what to do etc.

The recipes are easy to follow and understand and about 1/3 of the recipes show a photograph of the finished dish. This book is aimed at people looking for cooking keto dishes on a cheaper budget, but they all sound amazing.

When comfort food becomes your everyday food, you must either run 20 miles a day, or change your diet. The Laskas have given us some very good keto recipes that will not break the bank but are actually edible. I've already tried most of these and I can tell you now, running 20 miles a day is not in my future! Recipes include simple to complex meals using staples most of us keep on hand. No exotic ingredients or bland, tasteless results. Keto for life? Maybe not, but certainly for as long as the Laskas keep the ideas rolling.

This is a very easy book to follow and I love that the recipes are everyday type recipes. They don't have off the wall type ingredients and you get all the nutritional values listed right next to the recipe.

It starts with a breakdown of what Keto is, how to read nutritional labels, tips on how to save time & money and info on how to grocery shop.

Then on to the recipes that are very well broken down. First up breakfast then we get soups & salads, snacks, pizzas, side dishes, main dishes, desserts & drinks.

Overall I think this is a cookbook you would reach for often. These are recipes you could whip up for the whole family.

Love the layout, very easy to understand and the pictures are an added bonus.

I enjoyed this book- yes, it's a diet book and diet books aren't really that fun, but the author has an approach that is straightforward, funny at times, and educational. The author doesn't take herself too seriously and writes like I assume she would talk, which is really engaging. She is also credible, having lost a huge amount of weight on this diet.

The recipes are easy to understand and as long as you have almond flour, are pretty much made with things that you already have- no crazy ingredients that are hard to track down. She has a guide that "awards" recipes for being things like "fancy enough for guests" or OK for "picky eaters", which helps in deciding what you want to cook. I didn't see anything that wasn't easy to follow.

Overall, this is a refreshing read in the world of cookbooks and I'd recommend for those who do a keto diet, or have been intimidated to try in the past. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The DIRTY LAZY KETO Dirt Cheap Cookbook is an everything you could ever need or want to know book about the Keto diet and Stephanie Laska is an expert. She has lost and kept off 140 lbs. on this program. She and her husband William have delivered a cookbook chock full of information, shopping lists and recipes. The authors take the “dirt cheap” part of the title seriously and provide a thorough list of the pantry staples you’ll need and the cheapest way to buy them, whether it be a local market, discount warehouse or big box chain. After laying out the groundwork for beginning a keto diet, the recipe section follows.

Organized somewhat traditionally by meal type, these recipes are far from traditional! Creatively named and illustrated by photographs that will make your mouth water, each recipe also tells you whether it makes a double batch, is especially for picky eaters, fancy enough for guests or for a night when you’re extra hungry. My favorite Keto snacks include Rent Money (Pepper)’Roni Chips and Trust Fund Trail Mix. There’s a wonderfully simple soup recipe - Treat Yo’ Self Tomato Soup and I can’t wait to try Red Lobster Bargain Biscuits. Whether you are a Keto veteran or just want to try it out, this is the cookbook for you! Enjoy! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, and Stephanie and William Laska for this ARC.

I love this concept of the keto lifestyle. I know all about the benefits of going keto- but had trouble with keeping up with meal plans and the expenses of the correct food. This book has changed how I view the keto lifestyle. I am really impressed with the guided icons used in the table of contents for the recipes. I've never seen a recipe book with that and I love it. It's so convenient for the reader.

I'm also grateful that you explained the reasoning behind net carbs. I never understood why some carbs counted and some didn't count before now. The recipes all look amazing- even for a picky eater like myself. I appreciated the sidebar with nutritional information and tips for each recipe. I really enjoyed the blurb before each recipe making the recipes feel more personal. Also, some of the names of the recipes are hilarious. The authors have a great sense of humor.

I really appreciate the time the authors have taken to teach readers how to make keto doable. I definitely plan to check out their other books.

I love Stephanie Laska and have followed her plan off and on. I am really enjoying trying these recipes and my family love them. This is an easy to follow cook book and has some tasty ideas.

I love this cookbook and the author's writing style. I have read some of her other Dirty, Lazy, Keto books and find her writing to be enjoyable and relatable. I like that this cookbook has great recipes and ideas to keep a person eating dirty, lazy, keto without going broke doing it. This book is very successful at living up to its title. I recommend it for anyone who wants to eat keto in a little more lenient way while keeping it budget-friendly.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

The Dirty, Lazy Keto Dirt Cheap Cookbook means what it says in the title. It’s dirty because it doesn’t strictly follow the keto diet rules. Lazy means easy recipes that don’t take forever to make and that don’t involve running to the market for an ingredient you have never heard of before. It’s keto because there are less than 10 grams of net carbs per serving. Dirt cheap means less than $10 per meal with at least four servings. Sounds good? Read on.

There are 100 recipes included in the cookbook from breakfasts to desserts. Some of my favorites are the beautiful “Tycoon Titanic Wedge Salad”, the innovative “Clearance Cheetos Cheese Sticks” (cheese coated with more cheese and crushed Cheetos), and the super simple but delicious “Treat Yo’ Self Tomato Soup”. I also appreciate the “Red Lobster Bargain Biscuits”. They will save me a fortune over the Red Lobster branded gluten-free boxed mix that I have been using!

My only complaint is that only about a third of the recipes have a photo. I would really have liked to see what buns made from cheese would look like in the “Scratch the Egg Fast Sandwich” recipe. Speaking of that recipe, as a long-time gluten-free eater, I appreciate the author’s creative bread alternatives. She creates egg tortillas, pork rind pizza crust, cheese sandwich rolls, and jalapeno hot dog buns.

The jokes in the book add to the fun (kudos for making me think any diet is “fun”). In addition to the imaginative recipe names, the “Bourbon Borrowed Smokies” recipe requires two shots of bourbon, “one for the recipe and one for you!”

I don’t know if I will go full keto. Or even Dirty, Lazy Keto. However, I will be making some of these recipes and using the bread substitutes for other items that I will create. They sound tasty and are definitely Dirt Cheap. If you want to add some humor and healthy recipes to your diet or are committed to being casually keto (either now or on January 1st), the Dirty, Lazy Keto Dirt Cheap Cookbook is a great starting point. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars!

Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

The book is more than a cookbook. It tells you the basics of the keto diet, macronutrients and what ketosis. It also includes besides the 100 recipes, what tools are needed and supplies. Her philosophy has made each serving 10 grams or less of carbohydrates. She has recipes from breakfast to dinner. Her desserts are included.with this cookbook, you can eat your comfort foods and lose weight. Your groceries won’t be expensive. If you have leftovers, she tells what to make with them.. she has made it easy to feed the whole family with these recipes. I really liked her approach to the Keto diet.

Thanks to Netgalley and Adams Media for the chance to read and review, "The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO Dirt Cheap Cookbook" by Stephanie Laska; William Laska. This cookbook has been a life saver when trying to stick to a keto diet. I have been on and off the wagon for a few months now. This cookbook is great for beginners and for people who have been doing keto for awhile. Lots of great tips! I would recommend it.

Loved this cookbook! So many recipes to try out and they all have easy to follow instructions. Some cookbooks make things seem to complicated, but this one is easy to follow. Great for those on Keto or those just trying to eat a lower carb diet.

This is one of the better keto cookbooks that I have come across. Lots of them use pre-made branded things where you have to get that specific thing to get the proper nutrition that they are stating, but this one doesn't call for specific brands. Even better, most of the recipes contain whole foods and not pre-made store-bought ingredients. However, I don't love the format of the recipe, it's just not that appealing and it is quite cluttered, but the photos of the food look great and they give you the nutritional information for each recipe. They also include a section with tips and options to change the recipe as well as the cost of the recipe. I thought that adding the cost was a bit odd and costs will vary from place to place, but it's still nice to have a general idea.

If you like Stephanie Laska's other cookbooks, you will certainly enjoy this one. She hits it out of the park by really breaking down the cost of recipes and keeping costs low. I still felt the recipes had variety and taste even without fancy ingredients. Most of these are fairly quick to make as well which is always a plus.

The Dirty, Lazy, Keto Dirt Cheap Cookbook by Stephanie Laska and William Laska is good addition to anyone following the Keto Diet. The recipes are easy to follow and don’t require you to purchase unusual ingredients to make these recipes, which to me is a win! The beginning of the book give good background on the contents and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in this diet.

There are great tips for saving time and money by focusing on what is important to you. Included are also suggestions for grocery shopping as well as additional resources to help maintain the lifestyle. With Net Carbs, servings and nutritional value for the recipes, it makes it easy to navigate the day. Sticking to an eating plan or way of life is difficult enough without the added stress of spending more money and time which most people don’t have. This is a great resource for those who are just start out. It offers a less intimidating option to get you on your way. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
