If you are looking for a great bedtime story, perfect for halloween or thanksgiving night for your little pumpkins I highly recommend grabbing a copy of this book.
I recieved a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
"Night Night, Pumpkin" by Amy Parker is a fall themed good night book with adorable animal characters and sentimental prose. The book is a classic tale where readers will say goodnight to various things with the turn of each page. The rhythmical writing and fun storyline makes this book the perfect Fall season read for kids that can be enjoyed year round. The illustrations are simple, colorful and extremely well done. Our kids enjoyed the animal creatures and liked seeing all of the fall themed activities like the leaves changing colors, leaf piles, crisp fresh apples and more! Our family highly recommends this book for young readers and all Fall lovers!
“The cooler winds whistle in,
The leaves all dance and glow,
Fall is making its grand entrance,
Putting on quite a show.”
This book was absolutely comforting! It’s the perfect, cozy read for you and your child to have the one-on-one time before bed.
With detailed illustrations that are so much fun and make me so stinkin’ excited about fall coming, this book will bring back the nostalgia of childhood.
It really just made me want to go jump in a pile of leaves, eat apples underneath the trees, bake a warm pumpkin pie, have a warm cup of coffee, and just enjoy the bliss of the little things.
If you’re looking for a book that will be comforting, precious, and filled with truth, pick up this one! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
*I would like to thank the publisher for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are entirely my own.
This is a sweet story, my 4 year old loved reading through it with me. The illustrations are cute and fun and my son loved them. The story has a great message as well.
5 Stars!
This book is written in a sort of rhyming scheme that mostly very lyrical and only at times a little bit forced sounding. The pictures are really cute, with some little hidden things to point out to littles (like a pair of mice that is sometimes in sort of silly places!) The formula is predictable enough that my 4 year old was repeating "night night, apples" and the like on each page, which was adorable. There are some mentions of God making the stars and the like, so know that's there whichever way you swing on having God in your children's books.
Guest review by Jaime (age 6):
"It was so good that I loved it. My favorite part was the pumpkins."
What was your favorite part? "The hay bale one that I loved."
Were there any parts you didn't like? "I didn't like the leaf one."
Would you read it again? "Yeah."
Guest review by Link (age 4):
"It was good, good, good. I would say, the 100 good."
What was your favorite part? "The cows... Yeah, I love cows."
Was there any parts you didn't like? "My part where I didn't like, is like the one... The one I don't like is the corn one, because corn is kind of gross."
Would you read it again? "Yup!"
What a sweet book! A day to enjoy in the wonderful Autumn season is documented. "Night Night, Pumpkin" is the creation of bestselling and award-winning author-illustrator team Amy Parker and Virginia Allyn and is the second seasonal addition to the popular Night Night line of storybooks.
This board book is a perfect bedtime read-aloud that little ones can relate too. An adorable little puppy in a pumpkin costume goes about his day saying good night to the leaves, pumpkins, his family, the corn, apples, cows and God. At the end of his busy day his mom tucks him in, along with a host of others animals, and says... "Good night Pumpkin" to him.
The rhyming words and colourful, detailed illustrations are a perfect marriage. Together they bring the story to life. The autumn season dominates the storyline unveiling its wonders and the book expresses thankfulness for all of God's fall blessings. The strong bonds of family love flow from page to page.
This book prepares children for the beauty and fun that the fall season can offer and would be great for preschoolers and kindergarteners to listen to at any time of the year. I highly recommend this book.
This was a super cute story for fall reading! I could only do it on a small screen in the app so it wasn’t ideal for reading to my kiddo, but it’s one I would definitely get for him!
This book is a complete....and super sweet...Autumn celebration, and also makes the perfect night time story to lead to calm sleep and dreams.
Every page packs bright, joyful and colorful illustrations. The main characters are animals, who not only bright across a gentle atmosphere but radiate happiness. Every page gives thanks for something which has to do with Fall: leaves, pumpkins, apples, etc. The presented situations are ones that young listeners will be able to identify with.
Each scene is presented with four lines of text in gentle, poem form. The words are age appropriate and swing right along with the illustrations. At the end, there is a thanks to God for everything. It's a wholesome read which young listeners can flip through on their own. The illustrations also hold details, so that there something new to discover.
I received a copy through Netgalley and found this to be a delightful book for Fall.
This one is a perfect board book to pull out this time of year! We enjoyed this one and the Fall theme. Thank you!
This truly adorable nighttime story is sure to delight any little one with cute critters who are celebrating autumn and their favorite fall activities. With vibrant, two page scenes, little ones will love the soft, lyrical words as they follow along with the animals saying goodnight to the leaves, trees, cows and more! I personally enjoyed the “attitude of gratitude” this book cultivated for my little one’s heart and the mention of thanking God and telling Him goodnight. This is the perfect, cozy bedtime read for ages 2+ and is sure to be a favorite in our home for many seasons to come.
Night Night Pumpkin was a lovely fall themed story of fall on the farm. My boys loved the illustrations and the cute rhymes!
This is a nice and new bedtime story for families during the autumn season. We read about a puppy as he wears a pumpkin costume and says goodnight throughout different beautifully illustrated fall scenes. This book shows off the things we think of when we think of autum from leaves to pumpkins and more activities along with a Christian theme of thankfulness. Children will enjoy the story, the rhythmical sound and the colorful illustrations. It is geared toward an autumn theme for anyone wondering of the religious element, but all of it is beautifully done. It is a nice family book.
This was a really fun, cute little story to read with my 4 year old! He loved the rhyming and we both loved the beautiful, colorful pictures! A perfect fall bedtime story :)
This was a sweet book that explains all the fun that is had during the fall season. My daughter loved the fun pictures and the way that the words rhymed. Each page we would say "night, night" to something that was talked about on the page, my daughter enjoyed doing that, I thought it wasn't a necessary part of the book. This is a Christian book that references God. Overall I enjoyed this book.
Night Night, Pumpkin is a very cute bedtime story. My children and I loved the bright illustrations on each page, and the story was sweet and engaging. They are all begging to read it again.
I've found it can be difficult to find seasonal stories that also point to God, so I enjoyed the faith-based aspect of Night Night, Pumpkin. This is one we will definitely plan to add to our library!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.
Oh this is adorable! The bright colors and cheerful faces are so cute! I like the lyrical wording. I couldn't use it in my public school library but it would make a good gift for a baby/toddler.
Night Night Pumpkin by Amy Parker and Illustrated by Virgina Allyn was such a fun read! My 7-year-old’s eyes were wide and delighted taking in every page from cover to cover. The rhyming cadence added to his delight and kept his attention engaged while he took in all the different animals and their outfits on each page. While my son could read this book, he still enjoys time with Mom reading to him. I am grateful for Thomas Nelson Children’s Fiction making wonderful books available to make that time even sweeter and saving me from reading the same book every night for weeks on end.
I received an Advance Reader Copy from Thomas Nelson Children’s Fiction via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Night night, Pumpkin is a beautiful seasonal read for children aged 3-5 years.
This book has adorable illustrations children will love and teaches them about autumn and what happens in autumn. This book is a fun, easy read with repetition for the child to say night night to all the things in the book.
When looking for the perfect blend of a bedtime story and beautiful graphics, this is one book that you’ll want to own. It may be short and sweet, but kids and parents will treasure the sentiment. Story captures all the fun of the fall season from the leaves that fall to hayrides.
I received an advanced reader copy for free from NetGalley and am I my review.
Amy Parker's Night Night, Pumpkin is a great Fall read to get everyone into the Thanksgiving and Halloween spirit!
Fall is my fave season, which makes it only natural that I'd want to grab a few Fall themed books! Amy Parker filled that void with this utterly adorable picture book. This story makes for a great story time or bed time read. It's fun, light hearted and absolutely delightful. Add in a lovely story about family and Fall, as well as the gorgeously bright pictures and you've got yourself a real winner!
Three out of five stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
This book was adorable! Kids will enjoy the vivid colors and animals. Lots of opportunities to interact as well.
Night, Nght Pumpkin by Amy Parker is one of the cutest Children’s book I have ever read. The illustrations are beautiful. I cannot wait to read this book to my granddaughter Kaylee and my grandson Chance to see what they think of it. I bet even my 11 and 12 year old grandchildren would love to read it to their brother or sister.
My toddler is still reading this one, even as we switch to the holiday season, because this one has become an instant favorite for her. She's obsessed with pumpkins, and animals like most children her age so we were really excited to get a copy of this one thanks to Thomas Nelson & NetGalley!
An absolutely charming story about a puppy in costume, this endearing book is full of whimsical illustrations and our favorite fall things!
A nice little autumn story of animal friends picking apples, maze ride, and more. A cute short autumn book. The illustrations are nice to look at.
Night Night Pumpkin is part of the Night Night series written by Amy Parker and Illustrated by Virginia Allyn. I just love this series! It is one of my favorites for young children. The story is just the right length to read to younger children. The pictures are so colorful and filled with different animals and things from nature that God has made for us to enjoy. This is a great series to have to read to little ones to relax them for nap times or just for run.
This book follows a little dog around as he goes through a pumpkin farm. The reader and listener get to enjoy the puppy as he learns about trees and fallen leaves, as he selects a pumpkins and apples for treats and snacks, as he travels a corn maze and rides in a hay wagon, and finally as he listens to his grandfather stories and then off to bed.
When I noticed this book was available on Netgalley, I knew I had to have it as a special treat to read to my grandchildren this fall. I thank the publisher and NetGalley for offering this complimentary ebook. This is my honest review.
With bright colors, a good story, and pretty leaves this story will be a perfect book for younger readers to learn more about Thanksgiving.
I sat down and read this with my son, and whilst the book was colourful, it didn’t completely engage him with the story. Personally I thought it was easy to read, and the rhyme and rhythm were suitable to young children.
Would recommend for reading to younger children, possibly under 5 years old.
This was a cute and quick read that would be perfect to usher in fall. The illustrations were bright and fun, and the rhyming sentences made for a page-turning book.
Night Night, Pumpkin by Amy Parker contained all the autumn feelings.
The writing was fun and lyrical. She encompassed all the fun activates of the fall. I loved the various animals. The illustrations by Virginia Allyn were gorgeous and beautifully detailed. I loved the subtle message of God’s love as well.
The only odd thing was at times the characters were saying, “Night, Night” during the day time.
This is perfect for really young children.
I received an electronic advanced reader copy from Thomas Nelson Children’s through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
This is such a sweet little fall bedtime story. The illustrations are gorgeous. They are so vibrant. It’s a family of animals going through their day in the fall, doing various fall activities,
Night night pumpkin is such a cute book for young readers. It flows well and is very colorful. I absolutely adored the dog in a pumpkin costume!
This is an adorable book. The illustrations are so cute and very well done. Some of the content is a little over the younger kids heads (in my opinion) but the small phrases “goodnight family... etc” help won’t he younger crowd. All in all a cute story that will be well loved.
This is a really cute book for kids to get into the spirit of fall. Just be aware that there are mentions of God in the story.
I read this book with my 5 yr old and he loved it. He loved how cute the characters where and all the places they got to go. He used the book to talk about the things he wanted to do this fall. I also enjoyed the faith aspect brought into the book as well.
There are so many vibrant colors in this book! It made me feel happy to read it. I especially love that all the people are animals and that they all have a dinner together.
This book is all about Fall, and it’s just what I needed as another summer storm blows through and I’ll have to swim through the humidity to my car. I am ready for Fall. I have been ready since the first day it was over 75 degrees.
This book is definitely aimed at communities of the Christian faith, so keep that in mind if you want to pick this for bedtime, which is the best time for this book, in my opinion. Just look at the title. You’ll find plenty of leaves in this book, beautiful, warm colors, some Thanksgiving celebrations, and of course, getting tucked in at bedtime.
It’s out now, but I’d save it for when it actually starts getting cool outside. Hopefully soon!
I read an advanced copy of Night Night, Pumpkin by Amy Parker. Such a cute story, the pictures are great. I feel like im right there on the farm, saying Good night, to the fruit, family and, God!
In this book we see how animal friends love to play, eat and share their things including thanking God for what they have, saying prayer and thankng and saying goodnight to all they gratefully have.
A good book to teach youngsters to appreciate all they have when others have so little and to learn to share too packed into a fun autumnal story.
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
I liked this book and the images are lovely and the best thing about the book for me – they are lovely and autumnal!
I read the book with my daughter and she did enjoy it but for me as a mum I felt it was a little lacking in places and oversimplified and could have done with a little more text. It is 3 stars from me for this one
This one was really cute, even if it was perhaps a bit simple in regards of the text. I loved the illustrations though and they really caught the fun autumn-vibe.
This was a pretty typical fall book. It does mention “God” twice which to some can be a no-no but it is a quick reference that is not specific and could be used by many religions. The illustrations are sweet and pair perfectly with the story.
This is a cute little book about it being the fall with lots of cute little farm animal characters to go with it. I read it to my 5 year old daughter and she really seemed to like it as a bedtime story. The only thing I did not like was the downloaded version cut off at about 96%, therefore, I am not sure if we were able to complete the entire story. It didn't seem like the book quite ended there. Overall though it was an enjoyable book for us to read together. Thank you Net Gally and the publisher for the free copy for this honest review.
A colorful storybook I enjoyed reading to my 4 year old grandchildren. I didn't find it especially fun for them but we had a good time playing I Spy with the colorful pages. I think it would be a better choice for them when they are ready to settle down for bed or quiet time . Nicely illustrated and well written... We read the e-book, I think the board book would be a better choice for them.
