Advance Praise
When you travel it is a wonderful thing to show respect for the people and customs of the countries you visit. One easy way to do that is to learn a few simple words or phrases from their local language. I have always found that you will receive lots of praise and encouragement when you know a few polite things to say. People open up to you and interact with you on a much different level if you give their language a try. During this time of crisis when travel is harder to do, this can also be a great way to connect with people of different origins right here at home. This book gives a fantastic start to a few languages around the world. Use it as a jumping off point to teach your children about other languages and cultures.

Colorful illustrations show smiling multicultural children in a one double page spread for each country. For each of 18 countries visited on this around the world cruise we are taught four words: Hello, Please, Thank you, Goodbye. A “travel journal” included in the backmatter gives some simple information about each of the countries. Young children will enjoy pretending to visit and speak to people around the world but older school age children will want to learn more than is offered in brief introduction to the world. Consider pairing this book with a children’s atlas such as the National Geographic Kids May First Atlas of the World or possibly the Barefoot World Atlas App.
