Description
There’s a shooter on the loose who keeps missing his target. But that doesn’t stop him from trying again…and again. It’s up to Corrie Locke, rookie lawyer and spunky sleuth, to find the gunman before he hits his mark, Deputy D.A. James Zachary, Corrie’s hunky and complicated frenemy.
When Corrie is stuck with more questions than answers, she enlists a team with various strengths, weapons and cooking skills, to help her find the shooter. Her computer whiz boyfriend Michael is onboard. So is former security guard Veera. Toss in an over-the-hill informant and a couple of feuding celebrity chefs and Corrie’s got her very own A-Team. Okay, maybe it’s more like a B-Team.
Can Team Corrie hunt down the shooter before he scores a bulls-eye?

This is a case of dialogue overload, so if you manage to read this book without skipping a page or two, you are a very patient person. The book starts well, with some action, and the last part is great, with a very good pace. It's everything in between that's much too slow.
I enjoyed the plot, characters and setting. I did think there was so much dialog I found myself getting confused on who was speaking. I feel like the story could have been condensed. Overall a good mystery.

An entertaining and engaging mystery. Since I live in Southern California that added to my enjoyment. There are some surprises. Sorry I haven't read any of the previous ones in this series. I do look forward to reading the next one.
Slightly Murderous Intent by Lida Sideris is the 4th book in the Corrie Locke mysteries series, and another great book. I loved her earlier books in this series, and this one did not disappoint. Corrie Locke is an attorney who works for a movie studio, but was raised by her father, a well known private detective. Not only is this book laugh out loud funny, it has a great mystery also. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. If you love funny cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series, and will be going back and reading the third book, which I somehow missed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Great read by a new author for me. The plot is well written and enticing to the reader. The author writes in a way that makes the reader feel like part of The story.
My second visit to the world of Corrie Locke was not what I expected. I really enjoyed how Corrie was a deadly weapon without a weapon in her hands in book 3. I was taken aback a bit by her seeming inability to deal with bad guys at the start.
The team of Corrie and Veera is superb. Their interaction and Veera's humor really carry the book well. The story is a well-crafted mystery that will keep many readers guessing as to what is really going on. The story has many twists and turns and most of them are satisfactorily explained.
Excellent as a stand alone and solid as part of the series. The team of PI's needs their own PI office and that makes me very eager to read the next book in this series. If you are a fan of classic whodunits in almost a 1940's film noir style, then this book is for you. A fun read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I finished this one last month and I'm still thinking about what a cute and quirky cozy mystery this was. I loved the main character and her gang of supporting best friends turned super sleuths. I'm really looking forward to more from this author and hopefully this series!
An entertaining and engrossing mystery.
I liked the characters and the setting. The solid mystery kept me guessing.
Some less dialogue and some more action would improve it.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
This book has it all. It is amusing how a gunman out to kill keeps missing the target.. It has great characters and has twists and turns. Corrie Locke and her boyfriend Michael and her friend Veera set out to find the gunman to keep their friend James safe from harm. Will they solve the mystery in time?
There are some terrific characters here who really carry the book. For me, the main character was actually one of the weaker ones, with much of the humour and engagement coming from secondary characters such as Veera. This is a good mystery which uses dialogue cleverly to build atmosphere.
