A great introduction to Traditional and Integrated Chinese Medicine. Would recommend for health professionals unfamiliar with Chinese medicine practices and mechanics.
This book was received as an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I have heard about Chinese Medicine but was not too familiar with it and from reading this companion, I now am familiar and fascinated by the whole concept. I never thought that traditional elements of the world can have so many health benefits and when used properly can be a live saver and even miracle worker. It was so intriguing to learn what was in nature as well and the powers it has from. These practices were the most exciting when it came to discussing aromatherapy and massage treatments and how it can be miracle workers for joint and muscle pain which is something I am no stranger too.
We will consider adding this title to our R Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
This is a valuable guide to Chinese medicine, but not necessarily accessible to everyone. It is a true technical guide and not something to just flip through for quick answers and remedies. That said, I believe it is a worthy addition to a section of nonfiction that is oft overlooked in the average library. There are plenty of charts and diagrams within, but you must actually read the text in order to understand what you are looking at. Definitely NOT Chinese Medicine for Dummies.
This is not a light read, but it is excellent, and provides a very clear explanation of Chinese Medicine. As a layman, I found it to be interesting and informative, and includes a few helpful chapters. In most cases, it's an intro to a few topics. It's laid out beautifully, and the info is very well presented/explained. Recommended for those with little to no knowledge of the topic.
Thanks very much for the review copy!!
I'm all for books on Chinese medicine as this is one of my passions! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it be added to your collection!
This book gives a fascinating and in depth insight into Chinese Medicine. I read it as a beginner to Chinese Medicine, knowing nothing more than the words ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ but I came away with so much more. It’s the type of book you will want to revisit for its comprehensive information. It’s also very well presented. . I’d definitely recommend a read. My thanks to Netgalley, publisher and author for a digital copy in exchange for my review.
