This book is filled with practical tips to slow down and be more present in all aspects of life. I love the simplistic layout that's true to the book's core.
There are so many great ideas here and I feel that this book would be an asset to anyone in this increasingly fast-paced world.

This book was received as an ARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book seriously will enlighten you and make you have a blissful mind from the first chapter in the book. Every page I read I felt Kate really got the issues I was battling and more importantly offered tips and tricks to slowly detox and eliminate them from not only your body but your mind and think clearly. This book will be the perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, holidays etc. Everyone deserves to have a simple blissful life and this is the first step of many that can help us get there.
We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
This book was an enjoyable, simple read that anyone could benefit from. The chapters are short, generally ranging from 2-5 pages with practical advice and tips for how to implement the chapter’s idea or practice in daily life. James suggests a lot of ways to become more mindful (not just meditation!) so anyone new to the idea of mindfulness or struggling with their current practice could find some benefit. A wide range of topics are covered, everything from sleeping better to responding to conflict and contributing to your community. I felt the title was a little bit of a misnomer, the tips are mostly on mindfulness with simple living as a byproduct although “live simply” and “sustainable living” are included as chapters. Despite that fact I thought it was a very good book focused on mindfulness in daily life.
This was a very easy and enjoyable read. It is full of practical suggestions for really working to be more present in life and using mindfullness. I think I will continue to refer back to this book as a reminder when I need to slow down.
BE MINDFUL AND SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE offers the most simplistic and yet useful guide to mindfulness I've seen in quite awhile. It drives home the importance of a couple points people often forget while attempting to practice mindfulness. Things like the fact that "you don't need to empty your mind to meditate" and "it's normal to have thoughts". I think that often, when attempting to be more mindful, even the fact that thoughts seem intrusive makes us think we are not being successfully mindful, and so we give up.
What I love about this work is the honesty of the words. There are no complicated jargon or overly long sentences to wrestle with - it is easy to read and the concepts therein are straightforward to understand. The wealth of experience the author brings to the book elevates its worth, making it deserving of a second read.
This is a great book. It’s very user friendly in its layout and how it presents its content with easy to understand words. As it’s a pdf version that I’m reviewing I’ll have to purchase a paper copy as there’s so much to take onboard and it will be a good book to dip back into to continue a mindfulness focus.
In the troubled and challenging times we find ourselves in at the moment, we could probably all use a little more mindfulness and a focus on personal well-being. It's the perfect opportunity to indulge in this practical and uncomplicated little book to help you consciously slow down and take
steps to improve your life.
The activities in the guide are simple to follow and allow you to approach a more mindful way of living, one thought or small change at a time.
I particularly liked the easy to follow action plans (i.e.: the Living Mindfully Maps) to help ease you into the practice without feeling overwhelmed with all the changed you feel you need to make.
Be Mindful and Simplify Your Life is the perfect guide to accompany any yoga, mindfulness or journaling practice and would be ideal to dip back into for further ideas and support along your path!
A timely and useful set of insights into how to be in today’s complicated and often frustrating world.
This book is full of simple and actionable advice that readers can come back to repeatedly to as all all-in-one resource for mindfulness exercises. It would also be interesting to come back to certain questions to see how your responses change as you continue to learn and grow. I’d definitely recommend this to other readers interested in bettering themselves or practicing mindfulness.
