This is a great book on journaling. The author shares her stories, along with many journaling lessons and benefits, and others share their own stories with journaling as well. Each chapter ends with a prompt to help you dig deep into your journaling. But this isn’t just a book chock-full of all the benefits of journaling. It’s a story of healing through the power of journaling. It also shares other people’s story as if reading their own journal, and their approach to their journaling style. Each chapter is also a topic, which is helpful if there is something specific you are dealing with. I highly enjoyed and recommend. It is great for those who are looking for new insights to journaling, or who maybe got lost along the way and want to fall in love with journaling again.
This book is very helpful if you are new at journals. Lots of great tips and prompts.
I do recommend it.
As a life long journaler, I'm always interested in new ideas or what other people do. I'm also a "Morning pages person" as is the author. Anyone looking to sort out and mind dump will greatly benefit from writing it all down. The author was able to utilize journaling in a way other people use the law of attraction. I believe that's interchangeable, It's what you believe, what you put out there, and what you believe you're capable of doing. This is a factastic book for beginners that will benefit from prompts. The author weaves her story of MS thorough the pages and how journaling really helped her through it and helped her change many aspects of her life. This is a great book for beginners and for people like myself that have been doing it for more than 30 years.
This book is all about writing therapy (aka. journaling / expressive writing). It details strategies and offers guidance on how to use writing to best support your emotional journey and growth, and is centered around an extremely personal story about the author's health.
As someone who already regularly journals, this was a fun read and really got me thinking about how I could use journaling to resolve both external and internal conflicts. I particularly enjoyed seeing the prompts at the end of each chapter!
One minor thing I was uncomfortable with was the subtle condemnation of medicine as treatment to health issues. But I recognize the empowering story of using writing to change your life or mindset.
This has been a year of trying to get on top of my mental health. Journaling has always been an interest to me, but something that I’ve yet to take the time to actually sit down and commit to. That being said, I think this book provides a great argument as to why journaling should not be put off. There are so many benefits to letting go of those repressed feelings via writing. I’m so glad to have been approved for this book as it will be the push I needed.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this look on how journaling can open yourself up to healing. I’ve always known about psychological but to know about physical healing was amazing.
Mostly easily to read, this gives me a lot to think about.
