Description
The spirit of Anne is alive and well in Mariah Marsden's crisp adaptation, and it's a thrill to watch as the beloved orphan rushes headlong through Brenna Thummler's heavenly landscapes. Together Marsden and Thummler conjure all the magic and beauty of Green Gables. Like Anne herself, you won't want to leave.
— Brian Selznick, author/illustrator of “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” and “The Marvels”
The magic of L.M. Montgomery’s treasured classic is reimagined in a whimsically-illustrated graphic novel adaptation perfect for newcomers and kindred spirits alike.
When Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan who can help manage their family farm, they have no idea what delightful trouble awaits them. With flame-red hair and an unstoppable imagination, 11-year-old Anne Shirley takes Green Gables by storm.
Anne’s misadventures bring a little romance to the lives of everyone she meets: her bosom friend, Diana Barry; the town gossip, Mrs. Lynde; and that infuriating tease, Gilbert Blythe. From triumphs and thrills to the depths of despair, Anne turns each everyday moment into something extraordinary.

I wasn't sure how an audiobook of a graphic novel would work, but I'm happy to say that this was a really enjoyable listen. I read it in print format and it was just okay so that made the fact that I liked the audio version an even bigger bonus. It's very short - just 1 hour, 43 minutes which makes it perfect for a short road trip or while doing chores. Thanks to Andrews McMeel Audio and Net Galley for an advanced listening copy.
Will Marilla and Matthew be happy when they receive Anne instead of a boy? Who will help Matthew with the farm? Will they decide to adopt Anne? Can Anne gain the favor of Marilla and Matthew?
These questions and more will be discovered when you listen to this book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A nice condensed version to introduce the story to a younger audience. Good voices on the narration.
A delightful reimagining of Anne of Green Gables. This series is a childhood favorite of mine, I reread it multiple times and I can honestly say this graphic novel does the original justice while still setting itself apart.
The narration was quite enjoyable. It was as if you are listening to an movie.
Anne of Green Gables is an all time favorite book! I love the graphic novel adaptation this is based on and was excited to see a new audiobook edition! The various narrators are wonderful and really bring the story to life. The additional sound effects of birds chirping and horse hooves makes it feel like you are truly in Green Gables. This is an abridged adaptation but it is true to the story in every way! Such a fun trip back into the world of Anne.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Audio/Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for this audiobook, thoughts are my own.
This audiobook was really good and well produced. The water sounds, the birds singing, these special details made all difference to a very well-known story. I was transported to Green Gables with this audiobook and it brought me joy.
I listened to this audiobook with my son and we absolutely loved it! Pity we didn't have the graphic version to follow while listening.
The narration, the sounds are great fun,. Very, very enjoyable, would definitely recommend it!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is a nice expansion for any Anne of Green Gables fan. I listened to the audio version, and fully plan to add this graphic novel to my library.
This is the original story of Anne coming to Green Gables in an abridged version. Of course you still get some of Anne's most classic lines.
I loved the background sounds, - birds singing, walking around the farm, as it truly set the atmosphere of the story. The only audio voice that I could not stand was that of Rachel Lynde, neighbor and friend of Marilla. Luckily her portion of the graphic novel is short.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Andrews McMeel, for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first experience with Anne of Green Gables, so I cannot compare it to the original text. Anne of Green Gables is a book that has been on my TBR for over twenty years, and I still haven't managed to read it.
This is a bit hard to review because this is for a graphic novel, but I only have the audio.
I thought this was a well condensed version of the story. It was easy to follow and I think young readers would have an easy time understanding it. I thought the voices in the narration were fantastic and distinct to each character.
I enjoyed this audiobook about the life of Anne of Green Gables and how she interacted with her new family and friends. It was a light read which was short and it was therefore easy to listen to. I really liked the voices of each character and how they were portrayed.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
content: 5 stars

This audiobook is an audio version of the graphic novel adaptation Anne of Green Gables. It would be nice to see the illustrations too, but this audiobook is excellent on its own.
Narration includes some music and background noises which make listening more pleasant, especially for the children. Narration and sounds bring Anne to life. Three narrators did all character voices, and they did a great job.
Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this! All opinions are my own.
I loved this, mine was an audio book, and it brought back all the memories of the books that I've read and the video's that I watched.
The book starts at the beginning, and and goes right up until Anne is ready for collage.
What a great way to share with a child your love of Anne of Green Gables, a book that you and they will never want to end.
This is geared to 7 to 12 year olds to create a new group to endear with this wonderful series, and you will soon find yourself back on Prince Edwards Island, Canada, and bringing the spirit of Anne alive for your child!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Andrews McNeel Audio, and was not required to give a positive review.
This adaptation is available both as a graphic novel and this audiobook version. I listened to the audiobook and read the graphic novel after, since the audiobook I have doesn’t include the illustrations, and I was curious if they lived up to the audio adaption of Anne of Green Gables.
Listening to this audiobook was such a pleasure, it really does bring the spirit of Anne to life, and adds so much charm to the story. Timewise, this is much more manageable for younger children as it is slightly an hour and forty-five minutes. With three distinct narrators, Sharon Alexander as Anne, Rachel Jacobs as Marilla and Alan Carlson as Gilbert, this flows effortlessly, and is perfect on its own.
This abridged adaptation of Anne of Green Gables provides a wonderful introduction to Anne for children, one which parents will also enjoy.

I absolutely adored this production of Anne of Green Gables. Listen to it with a child you know or, if you remember the books from childhood, enjoy it for yourself. This edition of Anne of Green Gables is done with a unique voice for each character and a narrator who links them together. It was such a delightful listen. This edition of the book is engaging. I hope that it will also encourage children to read or listen to the unabridged stories about Anne.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
I own this book in print, but was happy to share this audiobook with my daughters, who absolutely loved following along with the book and hearing the excellent narration. SO well done!!
Such a good retelling of the classic, Anne of Green Gables. I love listening to the narrator and reliving the life of Anne.
I got the audio book as an ARC from Netgalley. I loved the variety of narrators they had for my favorite childhood characters. It was a very nice shorten retelling of the original book.
I listened to the audiobook & really enjoyed it. The author summarized this story in a way that would really capture children’s attention while still portraying the heart of this story and development attachment to the characters in a short period of time. I loved the sound effects & pauses which kept me entertained and rounded out the story. Would definitely listen again with my children !
I really enjoyed this audio performance of Anne of Green Gables! The narration was engaging and went by quickly. I listened along with my seven year old daughter and she appreciated the audio performance as well. She enjoyed the added sound effects and we both enjoyed the short scenes or stories. I would definitely recommend this as a fun audiobook to listen to with a child as it preserves the original story while making it accessible for younger listeners by presenting it in a condensed format and in a fun way.
I received an advanced listening copy of this title from the publisher via NetGalley which did not affect the contents of my review. All opinions are voluntary, honest, and my own.
I received this audiobook ARC of Anne Of Green Gables- the graphic novel and decided to listen to it along with the actual graphic novel. The graphic novel is so lovely with eye catching illustrations and this audiobook is as engaging and fun to listen to with its multiple narrators and background sound effects. I finished listening to this in one sitting and with a run time of only 1 hr 40 minutes this audiobook should also appeal to young children who I believe are the target audience.
I love the Anne Of Green Gables series and I think this abridged graphic novel is a good way to get the children introduced to this heartwarming story of an orphan girl searching for love, a home and kindred spirits. I hope the publisher of this graphic novel continues with the series, both in print and audio form.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Andrews McMeel Audio and Mariah Marsden for the audio ARC of this book.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to listen to in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
*** AUDIO BOOK VERSION***
Anne of Green Gables is a delightful story full of wanderlust, imagination and heartwarming moments. I was sent the audio book of this graphic novel, so although I cannot comment on the graphic novel itself, the audio book was amazing. The audio kept me engaged with listening and entertained. This book would appeal to children aged 8-adult and was beautifully narrated by all the narrators. This book was relaxing to listen to and perfect for a lazy day at home. I listened to the whole book in one sitting and didn't grow tired of it and wanted to listen to what Anne (Anne with an e) would get herself into next.
Anne is a heartwarming character who gets endeared to your heart and is a real treat for children and grown ups alike.
I've never listened to an audiobook for a graphic novel before so I was intrigued to hear this adaptation and let me say that it did not disappoint!
The whole production of the audiobook was so charming. The three narrators did a wonderful job doing voices for the characters.
One unexpected but welcomed surprise was the sounds of horses hooves on a path, birds tweeting, and water running. This touch made the production so enjoyable to listen to. I felt like I was right there with Anne in Avonlea.
I love that the graphic novel kept some of Anne's most well-known and treasured lines. This audiobook would be a great introduction to Anne for young children and for long-time fans who wish to revisit her.
I love Anne so much. I have read the book several times and I recently enjoyed the graphic novel. I think this audiobook makes a great companion to read alongside the graphic novel and I think it will come to life for young readers. The pictures in the graphic novel are so cute and the voices and sound effects in the audio are well done.
I hope that the graphic novels and companion audiobook are created for the entire series.
Thanks to NetGalley for the copy of the audiobook of Anne of Green Gables in exchange for my honest review.
I haven’t read any of Anne of Green Gables series and was delighted to start with this audiobook version of the graphic novel. And it’s the first time I’m listening to an audiobook of a graphic novel, so it was an added bonus.
I really enjoyed the book. The narrators were good and I could vividly picture the scenes. The sounds of giggles, bells, horse hooves etc gave a more authentic feel to the novel and made it so much more enjoyable.
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Audio for providing the Audiobook ARC. I really enjoyed listening to it.

I received an audio ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are siblings who decide to adopt an orphan boy to help on their farm, Green Gables. Instead, they end up with Anne, and 11-year-old imaginative redhead with a dramatic way of looking at life.
I requested this book for two reasons: 1) I had never read Anne of Green Gables growing up, and I was curious to know about the story I know so many others love. 2) I was very curious to see how a graphic novel would be turned into an audiobook. Based on the cover art, I'm sure I missed some gorgeous pictures for the graphic novel. However, the cast who read the audiobook did a phenomenal job of bringing it to life. As for Anne herself, unfortunately, I did not like her. Maybe I should have read this as a kid, and I would have had a better appreciation for her then, or maybe if I had read the actual book, the words that got lost in translation to the graphic novel would have endeared her to me. Mostly, she came across as an obnoxious kid. I can see why so many have loved this story after reading it while growing up, though. I think lovers of Anne of Green Gables will enjoy its graphic novel/audiobook adaptation.
Listening to an audiobook of a graphic novel while following along in a print copy was a wonderfully unique reading experience! The beloved classic Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery was adapted as a graphic novel by Mariah Marsden and illustrated by Brenna Thummler. The art is truly beautiful; I haven’t read the original novel so I can’t speak to the integrity of the adaptation.
The 2-hour audiobook is narrated by Sharon Alexander, Alan Carlson, and Rachel Jacobs. Their voices are perfect and the ambient sounds pulled me deeply into the story.
Anne of Green Gables the graphic novel on audiobook was super fun to listen to! I’ve always been a big Anne of Green Gables fan and grew up in the movies and books. The audio is about 1.5 hours so it’s a pretty quick listen overall and I felt it does a good job capturing the highlights of the story. The voice actors were fantastic although my one negative would be that some of the voice actors voices seemed too young for the part they played (for example Marilla sounded similar aged as Anne).
I’d recommend it for all young / children readers / listeners and any adults looking for a fun nostalgic book.
Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars!
I listened to this on audio and OMG!This was such an adorable children’s book! Anne was so spunky and true to herself. I can’t wait to have children and be able to read them this book because it hit on so many important topics while still making it enjoyable... I highly recommend this book for any age but I know children will love it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I almost wish I read this when I was younger becuase Anne reminds me of a more sophisticated pipi longstocking
I thought this was such a great audiobook for young people. I thought the full cast narration was great and I love how it had background sounds to it. I loved this adaption of Anne and her adventures at Green Gables and learning to be who she really is. I highly recommend this to anyone who adores this classic as much as I do.
You don't need to read the graphic novel to enjoy this audiobook. It stands on its own as a delightful adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's original work. At 1 h 43 min it's perfect for a longer car trip for your kids and yourself to enjoy together. The voice actors narrate the book with great emotion. I couldn't help but tear up a little at the end. Highly recommended!

This was a delightful reimagining of an old childhood classic.
When Anne Shirley is adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, they are expecting a boy who can help them on the farm. What they get instead is a wild and imaginative young girl with fiery red hair and a huge heart, and over time Anne becomes and indelible part of the Green Gables community.
I read the audiobook of this book, which I was initially hesitant about, but actually blew me away. The sound effects used in the audio, such as the whistle of a kettle or the clomping of a horse's hooves went a long way to convey the detail of the images in the audio. Additionally, the book was performed by a whole cast of characters, as opposed to just a single narrator, which also leant to the feel of the graphic novel format. Both of these elements, along with the short length of the piece, meant that it was a quick and well-paced read.
The story is so sweet and heartwarming, and feels fresh in this new form as both an audiobook and a graphic novel. I would recommend reading both!
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC.
At first I was not sure about about this since this is an audio version of a graphic novel but it was done very well. I throughly enjoyed it. Thanks Netgalley for letting me listen to this novel for my honest review.
I listened to this audio book with zero expectations and it was a good surprise.
.
The sound effects captured images of the beautiful Green Gables, the rain, the wind and the horses along with the voices of each character Sharon Alexander as Anne, Rachel Jacobs as Marilla, Alan Carlson as Gilbert, giving to the reader the feeling of being in the middle of the story
.
Anne is a beautiful book and this version seemed like a good option to listen to with childrens
.
Thanks to Andrews McMeel publishing and Net Galley for give a copy in exchange of my honest review I enjoyed listening it
This audiobook was extremely well done. I paired this with the graphic novel and noted how the audiobook had some extra lines to further create the scene, and I found it really helpful. The production was wonderful and the story absolutely delightful.
This book such a cute and fluffy read. I listened to the audio while cleaning and doing other mindless things tasks and became fully absorbed into the story. It was beautiful and a good introductory childhood classic for people looking to get into the genre. I loved how Montgomery allowed Anne to have character development while still being true to herself. While Anne is the main focus, the story follows several characters including Diana, Marilla, and Matthew Cuthbert. The author did a good job at fleshing out these characters and I really appreciated the depth she gave them.
The plot was also pretty interesting although it felt a bit formulaic. It featured many different hijinks and hilarious situations that Anne would find herself in and have to navigate her way out of. I really connected to her character and sense of imagination. The story took place in the early 20th century and had some historical elements that I felt added to the story nicely.
This was a great introduction to the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M . Montgomery. I really enjoyed listening to this dramatised version of the first book. It made me smile and laugh out loud as Anne, Marilla, Matthew, Mrs Lynd, Diana Berry and of course Gilbert Blythe were brought to life so expertly by the narrators. I definitely recommend this to children who have yet to read or listen to this story.
Thanks so much NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for my digital copy via the NetGalley app.
