Advance Praise
"This is by far one of the best books I have read this year.
A very sheltered, Nigerian young lady finds herself pregnant and heartbroken from her first romance. However, as she embraces the life of a single Mom she is confronted with disturbing information surrounding the birth of her child.
Since the information she is being given is inconsistent Aleeza embarks on a mission to find out the truth about what really happened.
Baby Factory is chuck full of shock factors and some very suspenceful moments. The reader is taken on a journey into some very disturbing elements of society. From the first line, I was drawn into the story and couldn't put it down. Halfway through this book I felt like I was on an emotional over load. It was that good.
This story was written by a master and I do intend to check out anything else he has written.
I would recommend this as a must read this year."

Baby Factory is an amazing book that will keep you guessing (and turning pages) late into the night! Once I started reading, I just couldn't put it down. The author does a wonderful job of evoking a foreign culture that is at once traditional and at times starkly contrasting against what would reasonably be assumed. This story weaves together suspense and mysterious circumstances so well that I felt I was walking in Aleeza's shoes. As a single mother navigating the murky waters of betrayal and disappointment, she nevertheless prioritizes her daughter and creating a stable life for the two of them. If you want to start reading something you won't be able to put down, give this book a read-through.
I was very drawn to the cover and I couldn't wait to read it. I am also making a point to read books written by Authors from all different races, ethnicities and cultures. This author is Nigerian. I enjoyed this book, its a very simple read, I feel like a couple important things happened that were glossed over and I would have liked more detail. I ended up skimming over most of the love letters there were a little too much for me, but then again I don't usually read romance novels so maybe that's just me. Besides that this book had me turning the pages quickly and I thought I had it all figured out and was totally wrong. Definitely check out Baby Factory, if you are looking for a quick read and Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this early.

Baby Factory by Suleiman Ocheni is the story of Aleeza Kalu, a Nigerian woman who is studying in London and looking towards and dreaming towards building a bright future for herself till a relationship with a man leaves Aleeza pregnant.
.
Aleeza decides to have the child and on the day she gives birth to a baby daughter who she names Remy who is declared dead after some time by the doctors as the baby couldn't survive as she was told by the doctors.
.
Aleeza thinks otherwise. Then there is also the story of what transpired between her ex-boyfriend Richard Henderson which led her to giving birth on her own without the father of the baby having no knowledge about it.
.
Aleeza persists that the baby corpse that was shown to her was not of Remy. As Aleeza tries to remember the events that took place before the birth of Remy, the others around her see this as a way of her coping with grief and her friends and family also think the grief has sent Aleeza in a Major setback.
.
But Aleeza knows her daughter is alive and is out there and thus begins the tale of Aleeza fighting against the world, taking huge risks and crossing dangerous terrains to find her daughter Remy.
.
The story building towards the beginning was a little slow. I felt the author wanted to say a lot but wasn't able to. The chase in the present day scenario and Aleeza's dynamics with Richard was also explored.
.
This wasn't a simple thriller and the narrative was certainly not fast paced. The end certainly couldn't live up to its mark because the build-up in the second half was good but when you find out it kind of kills your enthusiasm.
.
I learned about the Baby Factory that operates in Nigeria and you will also witness how a black woman has accepted that there are some things the white would JUST not understand which is something to pay attention to.
When Aleeza meets Richard via a dating App she didn't realise how much her life would change forever.
An interesting story of friendship, love, family ties and espionage.
Will anyone believe that Aleeza isn't suffering from the loss of her daughter and she's act alive?
An easy to read book.
Baby Factory is a well written book which takes readers on the journey as a new mother searches to locate her newborn baby.
I’m not sure what happened but some kind of way I got lost and didn’t realize what the title meant but very quickly I learned. My heart broke for Aleeza, everyone thought she was delirious but she was right the whole time. The author did a great job with the storyline, keeping my interest in the missing baby and the budding second chance romance that was playing out. This book had some highs and lows but nothing prepared me for the curveball. I enjoyed this book a lot.
I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Aleeza Kalu's story begins with the birth of her child, a little girl she calls Remy. She spends a long time counting and re-counting the baby's fingers and toes, and notes the cornucopia shaped birthmark on the baby's big toe. Her ex-boyfriend arrives, as he's only just been told by Aleeza's best friend that Remy even exists. He wants to meet his daughter, however, Aleeza refuses, and has the nurse take the baby away, but Richard refuses to leave.
Several hours later, they get the news that every parent fears. Their daughter has died. Though Aleeza's Nigerian cultural customs say not to look at the baby, she can't believe that her perfect daughter has died, and she insists on seeing her. When the baby is brought to her, she says Remy looks wrong, and is told that is due to the pallor of death. But when Aleeza spends time looking the baby over, she notices that the birthmark is missing, and she KNOWS that this isn't her baby.
People, even those closest to her, are insisting that grief is making her paranoid, and after the police seem to agree with them, she decides to handle it on her own. This fast-paced, engaging thriller is full of twists and turns.
The plot of the novel happens organically, and, nothing feels forced or like the author wrote it just for the purpose of keeping the reader in suspense or to put meat on the bones. The plot was fast paced with an important event or piece of information appearing on every page.
The characters were all original and I fell in love with all of them ever the ones that should have been easy to dislike, a rare feat and shows how good the author is at developing characters and storyline. The protagonist Aleeza in particular is a very relatable and human character who makes mistakes, has regrets and has to learn from them in order to grow as a human being and learn to trust others and just believe that that they will come through for her.
All considered I found the book surprisingly good, especially as it was the cover that first attracted me and the blurb secondly. I enjoyed immersing myself into Aleeza’s world and I would often feel like I was racing around the clock with her to solve the mystery before it was too late.
The issues of trust building and learning to trust, love and loss make this a heart-wrenching and painful read and this resonated with me especially as I have lost a child but the moments of hope that shine through like the rays of sunshine through the dark clouds are a perfect representation of the sunshine through the rain that never gets better, but allows a grieving parent to hope.
This is one of the best books that I have read this year and I would recommend this book to readers and I awarded it 4.5 stars.
