Never Say Die

A big thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press, Inc. for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a new series. This is set in Lighthouse, SC. I enjoyed the characters Miranda, and Hunter. Even Dutch the dog. It had moments of humor, romance, suspense and a bit of mystery. Pretty fast paced and was easy to read. I enjoyed this book. Yes, there were errors but it was fun to read. 4 stars. I think romance readers will enjoy this book.

After her divorce from her abusive husband, Miranda Peterson heads to Lightcastle, South Carolina to heal and to write her next book. Driving through the pouring rain, her tire blows and she barely escapes an accident. A stranger, Hunter Sloan, stops to change her tire and realizes that her blown tire was not an accident. Hunter is an agent working with the government to shut down a drug ring and believes that Randa was not meant to survive her “accident”. He begins to watch her and notices someone else is watching her as well. Who is trying to kill her and why? And, what is up with her issue with rocks? I enjoyed the quirky interaction between the two main characters as they try to solve the mystery. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Miranda decides to vustva small town in South Carolina after her divorce. While driving she gas to pull over due to losing a tire. An fbi agent offers her help and sticks close to her after learning her tire was shot at. I enjoyed the chemistry between Miranda and Hunter.

A romantic suspense with a vulnerable but plucky heroine, hottie DEA agent, loyal dog, and a bumbling hitman. What could be bad?

A lot, apparently. Miranda, the heroine was so incredibly ditzy and annoying and TSTL that by about 20 percent in, I found myself rooting for the hitman.

I didn't get my wish.

What was supposed to be an exciting and fast-paced plot was instead full of ridiculously convenient plot twists and screwball humor that totally missed the mark. When the heroine wasn't babbling incoherently, she was fainting, and it was utterly mystifying that Hunter, the hero, found all that adorable.

Around the time I started cheering for the hitman, I started skimming just to get it over. I was tempted to make this book a DNF, but for some reason wanted to give the author the benefit of the doubt. My impression never improved though.

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I thought maybe this one might encourage the author and her editor to go back to the drawing board. There's a hint of a decent story here, but it needs a lot of rewriting to make it palatable.

An engaging and fast-paced romantic suspense. It kept me guessing. I would have been happier without the foul language and intimate details, but that was easy to skip over and enjoy the story.

Miranda needs a clean break from her home town, her family and, most of all, her ex, so she leaves Ohio and heads for a rental on the beach in Lightcastle, South Carolina. Before she can arrive, she experiences a blown-out tire. Or was it really a blow-out? Could it have been more sinister? How about shots fired at her days later or her rental home burned to the ground?

I deducted a star for language and explicit sex scenes.

Thank you for allowing me to read this ARC. If you like a book with suspense, mystery, and romance, this is the book for you!

Samantha Quinn’s Never Say Die is book #1 in the Lightcastle Cove Series. A fun and fast-paced read in the romantic suspense genre, Never Say Die was entertaining.

Like most books in the genre, there’s suspense with some sexy romance between a beautiful heroine and a drool-worthy hero and to my delight, a charming dog called Dutch. The story has its fun moments with a heroine who one feels like giving a whack in the head, she behaves a total bimbo half the time, not even ready to accept the fact that someone is out there to kill her. Hunter Sloan as a DEA agent was the macho hero who finds a constantly fainting Miranda utterly charming, LOL.

The babbling heroine creates a lot of chuckle-worthy scenes, and I loved the humor in the story even though it came at the expense of a naïve protagonist. The chemistry between the leads was excellent and the action at the end adds the thrill to this story.

In all, an easy and enjoyable story for a lazy afternoon.

Recommended for fans of the genre.

Okay, I have really mixed feelings about this one. I really like Hunter. His character is alpha, protective, and sexy. He had depth. Miranda had me shaking my head. She is not well written. At times she comes across as lovably quirky. At others she's a complete idiot and unbearably whiny. The mystery had a lot of potential but was completely obvious and I had the bad guys figured out as soon as they were introduced. There were times I really liked the story. The romance portion was great and the sexy scenes were just the right amount of steamy for the story. Hunter working the cases kept me interested. But those airhead moments of Miranda's were very hard to overlook. I would give a second book in the series a try with hopes that experience will make it a better read.

A suspenseful romance with a few twists and turns. the characters are great and the situations fun and exciting.

This was a very well written and intriguing book. The plot was very enticing and I couldn't put the book down. This was a new to me author and I will definitely try another book by this author.
