Description
Daphne had a peculiar feeling in her gut from the moment she arrived at the Brooker residence, and it wasn’t from her hurried lunch.
Daphne Jones adores her new career as a travelling celebrant, visiting a different small town every week to marry happy couples or help with sad goodbyes.
But it isn’t supposed to be both at the same time.
When a member of a bridal party ends up face down in a swimming pool, Daphne embraces her inner sleuth, believing this death was no accident.
Amid old family feuds, resentful relatives, and missing funds, there are plenty of suspects, and none of them appreciates Daphne snooping in their business. One wants her out of town, one wants her reputation destroyed, but with a heart of gold and a way with words, this celebrant sleuth is not giving up. Unless the killer finds her first...
Daphne and John appeared in four of the River's End series. It is not necessary to read them first, but if you'd like to know more about this gorgeous golden aged couple then take a look. First is The Stationmaster's Cottage.

Embarking on a new career is difficult but dealing with a murdered member of the bridal party can be tricky. Lots os suspects make this mystery fun. You will be kept guessing. Since this was my first, I will definitely be reading the previous ones. Thanks #netgalley and #BooksGoSocial for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
Celebrant Daphne immediately felt uneasy when she arrived at a family home before performing a wedding ceremony. Family members were behaving strangely. Then she found out that bride-to-be Lisa was on her third wedding and all the men came from the same family. Was Lisa just unlucky in love or was in murder?
There were some unique features in this story which makes it different than a lot of cozies. The location, the protagonist's job and her form of travel. It was a nice change. Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed are my own.
Woohoo another series from Phillipa Nefri Clark, this is the first installment and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have fond memories of Daphne from previous books and she is lots of fun to be with, now Daph and husband John are touring in their caravan, Bluebell while Daph performs weddings and funerals as a travelling celebrant, she is very much enjoying her new life, I do hope that you come along for the ride.
Daph and John have arrived in the small town of Little Bridges so Daph can marry Lisa Brooker and Steve Tanner she is just about to meet them for the first time and she is not feeling too good about it, not sure but that strange feeling she has that something isn’t quite right is with her and very strongly.
Although things don’t go as planned on the first meeting Daph is back the next day to perform the wedding and then things really go pear shaped when within minutes of saying you are now husband and wife the groom ends up in the pool dead, this brings to life Daph’s excellent sleuthing skills and sets her on a trail of discovering the murderer, and here she uncovers a family feuds and secrets that go back generations and some nasty family members, but Daph never stops investigating no matter what.
This one had me guessing till the end lots of twists and turns in this page turner, I loved the way that John was always there for support and the way Daph talks things through, a small town and two big families and Daph gets to the bottom of the puzzle I think this cozy mystery is a fabulous start to the series traveling around Victoria and going to new towns is going to be wonderful and Daph and John are great people to hang around with, can’t wait for the next one.
My thanks to the author and Netgalley for my copy to read and review
When I started out reading this novel, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast I became addicted to the story. Daphne is a wedding celebrant who has come to town to marry a couple whose families have blood between them. But, that shouldn't stop the celebration of the happy couple right? Well, you would be wrong. A murder takes place, and Daphne feels it is up to her to find out who done it! Honestly, I LOVED the main character Daphne and her husband John. I love that the characters are later on in life and its not some teenage detective and her boyfriend trying to solve a mystery. I love the way both of the characters look out for one another and show how deeply they care. I also love that Daphne is not described as some hot model type with blond hair, she's got some gray hairs and some curves which makes it more realistic for readers. If you are into mystery murders, small-town vibes, and an adorable couple-this is your book. I will definitely be picking up the next installment of this series!
Till Daph Do Us Part - Phillip Neri Clark
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first read of a Philippe Neri Clark story and I was thoroughly entertained.
I was jubilantly surprised how fast this story became addicted reading. Daphne, a wedding celebrant, has come to town to marry a couple whose families have blood between them. A murder takes place, and Daphne moves into investigator mode to find out who done it!
Daphne and her husband John were likeable characters, with life experience abd a mature eye for details. They care deeply for each other and represent real people, not fictitious perfect characters.
I enjoyed every page of this murder mystery with wonderful small-town vibes, and a sweet couple and recommend it without reservation. I will definitely be reading the next story of this series!
An enjoyable cozy mystery with an unusual setting (Australia) and an unususal heroine (a travelling celebrant)
I thoroughly enjoyed it as it's engrossing and entertaining.
Nice characters, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I can't wait to read another novel in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

What a fun read! Once you start reading you can't stop.
Daph and John are a cute, in-sync couple, travelling around Victoria in their caravan, Bluebell, so Daph can work as a celebrant.
Enter the wedding of all weddings. A bride marrying a third time; the grooms all related; some dark family secrets between the two families and then a dead groom.
Wonderful word-building and scene setting. Loved the story, Loved the characters. Didn't see the plot twist coming in the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.
Entertaining And Unique…
The first in the Daphne Jones series of mysteries finds Daphne in a quandary. As a travelling celebrant, she is well used to attending people with all sorts of differing emotions - be they at funerals or weddings. However, she is most definitely not used to attending a death at a wedding. Feeling that this particular death is no accident, Daphne dons her new found sleuthing hat and determines to get to the bottom of the matter. Entertaining and unique, this is an enjoyable mystery with a well drawn cast.
Daphne was like a bubbling brook making romantic sounds along the way. Her business of choice was interesting indeed. Daphne's job of choice was to help create your perfect day, but in this case, she became embroiled in a murder mystery. With her curiosity on the rise, she couldn’t resist changing caps from celebrant to amateur sleuth.
Daphne Jones and her husband John have taken to life on the road as they move into their next act. Daphne as an officiant and John who is pursuing his passions of fishing, photography, genealogy and Daphne. As they travel around Australia in their camper to Daphne's engagements, they are exploring the countryside and just enjoying time together. Daphne's latest gig is for a wedding in a small town and she's chuffed to wed the young couple, but when she meets them, she's less than impressed with the entire family and their rudeness to each other and her. But Daphne agreed to marry the couple and wed them she will, then she and John can leave town for her next engagement.
If Daphne though the rehearsal was hard to get through, the wedding itself was a breeze...until a body is found in the pool and Daphne vows to find justice for the victim. So many suspects, so little time for Daphne to get through them all before she has to get to the next town. Secrets, lies and surprises await Daphne along the way and with John's support, she gets closer and yet farther away. But will Daphne be able to bring all the pieces of the puzzle together to figure it out before someone is officiating her funeral?
The second book in this series, it is the first I have read and it is fine as a stand alone. It's nice to have a cozy of a married couple on their second act, which I can relate to. I enjoy the relationship that Daphne and John have and think they have serious #CoupleGoals.. Daphne is so empathetic and caring and she just makes you want to get to know her further and you'll be waiting for the next book to do just that.
