Description
While deep underground in a Bolivian mine, running for cover from an imminent explosion, Alistair thought back to the parting words from his mother in law. "Don't do anything silly and please look after Fran."
Join Alistair and Fran in this fun-filled adventure story, as they travel by makeshift raft down the Amazon, climb volcanoes, teach English in the jungle and endure a hair-raising taxi ride with a pig. Along the way to Machu Picchu they hired a donkey called Angus, before venturing across a remote mountain pass, with just a mud map to guide them. From time to time they sent postcards from South America, sharing tales about their escapades and adventures.
If you've ever wondered what it's like to give up everything to follow your childhood dreams, this is the story for you.

Featured Reviews
Postcards from South America is the travel adventures of a middle aged couple taken after Alistair loses his job. It is about taking risks and doing things out of your comfort zone. If you plan a trip to South America or just love to read about travel adventures it is a good easy read book. The style will take a bit of getting used to and sometimes you wish it was more about the place itself than the small details and conversations that sometimes pad it out. But overall a good easy read and a great armchair escape in these times of restricted travel.
