Thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions for a free digital copy.

A beautifully illustrated book about the men who were the first to the moon and their friendship and journey. I think this will spark kid's interest in outer space and made them consider teamwork and friendship.

This is an excellent introduction to the Apollo 11 mission for young readers! It's told in picture book/narrative form (as opposed to a biography or reference book) which makes it very accessible and interesting. I learned a few things I didn't know, especially about Michael Collins, who didn't get much of the glory but definitely had a hard job!

The illustrations are vivid, colorful, and will definitely keep kids' attention. This would make a great circle time book to start a discussion about space and exploration. It would also be a wonderful addition to pre-K and elementary classroom, school, and personal libraries.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

A more than adequate look at the Apollo 11 mission, just about capturing the unique spell the event had on everyone involved, whether orbiting the moon, landing on it, or watching back on Earth, but a book that (like its sibling volume, "We Are the NASA Scientists" - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4286491379) seemed to not need its branding. Its chummy, present-tense title after all, and the series moniker concerning friendships, are hardly matched by anything in the contents. Yes they talk in a polite and friendly way to each other in the speech bubbles on offer, and yes they were doing something as a threesome that nobody else had ever managed, but it's not like their friendship was a defining aspect of the whole occasion. So each relied on the other two? I'm sure they were trained to be as close to interchangeable as possible. To prove the philosophy of the franchise name you'd need a shelf full of historical friendships, and showing them one at a time does kind of take away from the science history this book is more than capable of delivering.

An excellent kid level review in story form, of the Apollo 11 mission, covering the 1st landing on the moon. The brightly colored, & actually quite realistically enough detailed drawings/artwork go right along with the kid appropriate text & might encourage more discussion about the event. This is really well done/presented. I'd guess it's aimed at a 4-7 y/o age group? Very good addition to your children's library!
I received an e-ARC from the Quarto Publishing Group-Wide Eyed Editions via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

A nice introduction to the space race. It gives a simplified history of NASA but is also still told in a way that’s half story lessons (importance of working together etc)

A straightforward but well-done children's book about the Apollo 11 moon landing. This book makes reading non-fiction fun and accessible for children. Perfect for school libraries everywhere!
