Dani Atkins is a great author & I really enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all her other books. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this book.
OMG! I’ve just finished this unputdownable book and feel like I’ve been wrung out…….. I read the last 15% or so, so quickly as I wanted to know how the story ends. I really don’t want to give any spoilers or clues as to how this wonderful book ends, so it’s quite difficult to write a review! Suffice to say, I fell in love with Gemma and Finn’s story which is beautifully told, bringing both of these damaged, likeable and totally in love people, to life. The story bounces along nicely and picks up a pace as we find out why Finn disappears. You won’t be disappointed, just don’t read it at night and expect to be able to put it down, to finish in the morning…….
This was an unlikely heart-searching read about Gemma who refuses to accept she has been jilted by Finn, insisting he would never have abandoned her and adamant something is wrong with him in spite of increasing evidence otherwise. Told over six days now and back during various stages of their relationship it’s clear Finn has serious commitment issues and it’s so hard to see why Gemma would be so convinced otherwise but her unwavering conviction is astonishing and when the devastating truth is revealed it’s a real surprise. This was an unexpected delight and very original and refreshing read, 9/10
Gemma and Finn did not call in love at first sight, it was a bumpy road. But today is their wedding day. Finn doesn’t show up; Gemma is devastated. His passport id missing and no one has seen him since he left his stag the night before. How could he have left her? Gemma is insistent he wouldn’t, despite all investigation indicating he has. But where is he?
What a fabulous book!!!!
What would you do if the man you love didn't turn up on your wedding day?
Would you give him the benefit of the doubt or would you curses the day you met him?
Gemma finds her soulmate, Finn, and they plan a future together but when he doesn't appear on their wedding day, will Gemma will move on or will she go searching for him?
A real page turner, a bit like a roller coaster but a great story.
Highly recommended.
I absolutely loved this book! I raced through it, wanting to find out what happened, and finished it from start to finish in a couple of hours.
Gemma and Finn are in love. But when Gemma turns up to the church on their wedding day, there is no sign of Finn. She is convinced that he would never have left her and she is determined to find out where he is. So over the next six days Gemma begins her search for Finn and she will be shocked by what she discovers.
A great story line which pulls at the heartstrings. A roller coaster of a ride which is well worth a read.
Fabulous read, raced through this book in one day, definitely one to take with you to the beach this summer.
This was a fantastic book that I couldn’t put down! I had to keep reading to find out what happened. I can’t say much without spoiling it so I won’t say anything except make sure you grab a copy of this book to read, you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book.
An absolute page turner - ploughed through it in an afternoon. Vibrant characters, smiles and heartbreak abound. An absolutely fantastic read.
On the day that should be the happiest of her life, Gemma is left waiting at the church for Finn, her fiancé, to arrive. She is the only person who doesn’t think he has jilted her, and when she tries to report him as a missing person, is told she can’t report him as missing. Evidently most people who disappear like this come back within a week. But Gemma is determined to find out what happened to Finn.
I really enjoyed this love story and found it very hard to put down. I loved both Gemma and Finns characters, and the storytelling is very easy to read. It did at the start feel as though it was taking a while to get going, but that soon changed. I desperately needed to know how the author was going to be able to finish this book, and couldn’t put it down until I knew. A read for all seasons.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
What a fantastic read. When Gemma first meets Finn she takes an instant dislike to him and they don't get off to the best of starts and their relationship takes many turns before they finally get together .When the unthinkable happens on what should be the happiest day of her life her love is tested as she tries to discover what has happened to him .Dont want to spoil the story as it will keep you gripped from the beginning and as the story plays out there are lots of things that come to light about the past but Gemma never gives up believing in him. A story of family. Hope, friendships and most of all love.Beautifully written and I highly recommend it read it in two days I couldn't put it down. A 5🌟read
Nothing weirder than opening a new book to discover a main character has the same full name as you 🤣 that bizarre experience aside, I found this such a moving, attention grabbing & thought provoking book.
Gemma is left devastated at what should have been the happiest moment of her life, with her loyal Dad and her trusted friend by her side she tried to unearth the truth about what has happened to her fiance, Finn, and over the course of 6 days sifts through the incriminating evidence left in the presence but also flashbacks of their years together, to come to a revelation that is shocking and dramatic in its conclusion.
If I was to sum up the contents, then this is of course a love story, but it's also about finding your soulmate through the ups & downs of life, the tragedies, the twists of fate, the patterns of behaviour that take us through our early adulthood as we discover ourselves. It's also about friendship, the strength of your faith in someone during challenging times and about the complexities of relationships.
A great book to devour and let take you along for the journey.
Dani has done it again. The skill of being able to write about characters and make them believable is great. When Gemma meets Finn nothing seems to go right for them both. After 18 months apart they decide to get married. Finn doesn't turn up. Gemma refuses to believe he would just leave her and sets out to find him. Despite everyone telling her otherwise. The book shows the lengths we will go to for someone we love, especially if you have different ideas of what you want from life.
Gemma fears that she is late for her interview as a journalist and when a stranger seamlessly steals the parking space she was about to drive into she is furious with him, but he just laughs it off and rushes away. This is the start of the novel and I don’t think anyone could ever have foreseen that these two characters would eventually become soulmates. Love is such an unpredictable, indefinite and nebulous emotion. They do meet again and their feelings and attraction to one another is evident. They fizz with desire for each other. They date just a few times when Finn delivers the bad news. He has sold his coffee shop and the next day he is flying off to Australia, his homeland, and is going to try his hand at becoming an author.
Gemma is really shocked by Finn’s news and of course she doesn’t want him to leave. He is adamant that he must return to Australia. This has been his ambition; he always knew it would come to this. It was the wrong time but the right partner. They don’t swap contact details so she is shocked when he sends her periodic post cards. Her hopes are raised when she books three weeks holiday and suggests she visit him for her holiday, but sadly Finn knocks her back.
Time passes and Finn returns to the UK, now a famous author. Gemma goes to a signing and her heart aches for him. He signs her copy of his novel and Gemma is broken: he didn’t recognise her. But when she opens his novel she feels positive about their future. He has left her his phone number. Her heart sings, she adores him and she would do anything to be with him.
It is happening, they are a couple, everything has turned around and she just knows they will stay together. Time passes and their relationship becomes even more intense. At long last they are engaged and planning their wedding. She totally believes in him, until the worst thing she can imagine happens. He does not show up on their wedding day. She doesn’t believe he has jilted her, she knows he would never do that to her. She is worried that something dreadful has happened. Every day she tries to get the local police to start a search, but without evidence they refuse. She makes posters and attaches them in prominent places. She is the only one who keeps faith. For the next six days she ignores the sceptics, but she becomes increasingly worried. This is Gemma’s worst nightmare and she begins to wonder if she should let go.
Dani Atkins is a wonderful storyteller well known for writing emotional love stories. This novel is elevated by the addition of another genre: a mystery story that must be solved. The characters are skilfully created and developed so that the reader becomes invested in what happens to them. My two favourite characters are both Finn and Gemma. They are crazy for each other. Gemma is loyal, brave and enthusiastic. Finn is tender, loving and gentlemanly. The storyboard is fantastic and enthralling. With the mystery genre comes thrills and spills, tension, suspense and some shocking twists in the story, none more imaginative and nerve-wracking than the very last brilliant and riveting, electrifying dramatic swan song. I LOVED it.
I received this excellent and moving novel through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher, Aria, all in return for an honest review. This is my 5* review. All the opinions expressed are my own with no influence from other parties. It is going to go on my list of recommendations as highly readable, brilliant, heart stopping and a real page turner.
Another great read from Dani Atkins. Always 5 stars. Lovely storyline that kept me gripped throughout
A beautiful love story with some twists. I did not see the ending . Wow. It was the kind of book you could not put down.. It moved back and forward in time which I am not always a fan of but it worked well.I loved the police inspector and Gemma’s love for Finn was so strong. A perfect read
Amazing read!!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.
Dani Akins does it again! Wow, what a book. I was hooked from the very first pages. I cried, I laughed and I hoped.
I didn’t not see the ending at all. Beautifully written and one which will stay with me.
I finished reading Six Days in only a couple of days; I was drawn into the story from the beginning and thought that is was a very good read.
The story begins on what is meant to be the wedding day of happy couple Gemma and Finn, but Finn doesn't turn up to the church, leaving everyone but Gemma to believe that he has done a runner.
Gemma refuses to believe that he would do something like that to her, and she thinks there must be a more sinister reason for him not turning up.
The story reverts back and forth through time, and by doing so, the reader is given insight into the couples' relationship from when they first met (no love at first sight here!), to the highs and lows they experienced over the years. In the present day, the story follows Gemma across six days as she tries to piece together what happened to Finn.
Dani Atkins does an excellent job of keeping the reader interested by dropping tasty little crumbs of information that have you doubting Finn's actions, leaving you to wonder if he really did leave Gemma at the alter.
This is a lovely story about not giving up on those you love, and trusting your gut instincts.
As a side note, I adored Gemma's father and also her best friend; two of my favouite characters.
6 Days takes us on Gemma’s journey to find her fiancé. After being left at the altar all Gemma’s friends and family are convinced her fiancé Finn has had cold feet and took the cowards way out. Gemma cannot and will not believe this of Finn and is convinced something dreadful must of happened. This story takes us day by day from the wedding until day six, we find out about their relationship and it moves from past to present seamlessly.
The police are not prepared to take any action, and the evidence mount’s to show Finn must of just taken off without a word.
Gemma will not and cannot believe this she is adamant that Finn loved her deeply as she him and he would not put her through this trauma.
As each day passes Gemma’s progress to finding Finn weakens by the hour but her determination does not, still sticking to her unwavering belief and trust.
By the fifth day my heart was pounding, I just had to know what had happened and started speed reading each page, after giving myself a good talking to I stopped went back a bit and started again so I could savour this book and let it take its own time in unveiling the truth.
A wonderful uplifting book, a rollercoaster of a read, at times I felt I was reading a thriller as well as a love story.
I love all this authors work but she has surpassed herself with this riveting beautiful story.
My grateful thanks to net galley and publishers for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
This is the first book I've read by Dani Atkins and I absolutely loved it!
I was gripped from the first chapter and finished it in a day. A heart-breaking but ultimately heart-warming story about the strength of true love and the lengths two people truly in love will go to to save each other.
This was a delightfully original love story.
Highly recommended.
A fantastic emotional but feel good read, A great story with with believable characters which you fall in love with.
Thanks to Aria and Head of Zeus for an early copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I was intrigued by the book from the very start, to the point I was coming up with theories in my head as to what had happened to Finn! The suspense was held very well in the book and it absolutely kept me interested.
A very well written book, I'll definitely be recommending this to others once it is released.
I’m a huge fan of Atkins books and this one is no exception. Delighted she won an award at the recent RNA’s. Full review will appear in my newspaper column.

Gemma is convinced Finn wouldn't abandon her like this, even though he has disappeared once before. But back then he had a reason. Every time I pick up a book by Atkins I know I am in for an emotional rollercoaster and I love it! 'Six Days' is achingly beautiful and captured my heart from the beginning. The love Gemma has for Finn just flows off the page and I was immersed in their story and finding out the truth. Gemma is a very strong character, even I was doubting Finn when she wasn't.
This is an emotional read but there are happy moments as well. Atkins writes this in the present as well as flashbacks to inform us of the history between Gemma and Finn. This was a very engaging way of telling their story and kept leaving me wanting more.
I just loved reading 'Six Days'. The characters were perfect, their love strong and the emotion powerful.
Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus for an advance copy.
Loved this book so much!
There's very little that can get emotion from me, let alone bring me to tears but this book wow did it deliver!
Everyone I know will be getting a copy!
I really enjoyed this book, the characters were very relatable and I liked the way the story unfolded. There were enough twists to keep me hooked to the last page.
Many thanks to netgalley and Dani Atkins for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy this book.
I immersed myself in the lives of Gemma and Finn and invested in their friendship, relationship, careers and travels. “Six Days” isn’t a sickly sweet, predictable romance, but an invitation to share the stories and witness a depth of emotional connection between two people who are drawn together. I really enjoyed the thoughtful way that Dani Atkins guides us through the story at a comfortable pace, and finishes on a crescendo of emotion that left me far too emotional when I’m isolating, and just needed a hug, and a reminder that it’s not real…. My recommendation, do not choose this book if you expect to read a chapter and put it down again…you’ll want to keep going… It’s difficult to précis the book without spoilers: Boy meets girl / Girl recognises boy after a significant period of time passes / Boy and Girl reconnect, fall in love….Girl has loving Dad and a Best Friend / Girl’s gut feeling is tested…. Thank you Dani Atkins xx
This book had me well and truly hooked.
I couldn’t put it down. I felt like I was going through all the emotions with Gemma and kept flip flopping between what I thought had happened to Finn.
A really great book that kept a tight grip of my heart strings the whole way through.
Considering that the book is about two soulmates, I wasn't expecting it to start with the bride being jilted at the alter.
The book alternates between the past and present. In the present Gemma tries to track down Finn with the help of her father and best friend. In the past we read about their unorthodox journey towards married life. As the two timelines start to merge I did start to wonder if Gemma had been deluding herself, and that Finn had done a runner. I was already hooked, but at this point in the book I could not turn the pages fast enough as I raced to find out if there would be a happy ever after or not.
I laughed, I swooned and I cried big fat tears reading this book and loved every minute of it. I would like to thank the publishers and NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.
This is another great Dani Atkins book. I loved the characters and the story line. The suspense had me reading well past bedtime and the ending was great. Would have given 6 stars if I could!
I enjoyed reading this book, however did get slightly confused with the back and forth between different timelines.
A gripping read with a nice ending.
Huge fan of Dani Atkins.
You know you're in for a roller-coaster of emotions.
This book is no different. Gemma turns up at the church for her wedding, only to find her fiancé, Finn has stood her up.
Her dad abs BFF rally around her after she has been jilted. Genma is, convinced Finn didn't abandon her at the altar but she seems to be the only who thinks this as all the signs point to Finn doing a runner... His passport is gone, his flat is empty and is their savings account.
So, what really happened to Finn?
Another great read that I flew through.
Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.
This was surprisingly emotional actually. I was prepared for a light story but Finn and Gemma really tugged at my heartstrings. There's romance here but also a story of perserverance and hope against the odds. Ended up reading the whole thing in one go and it's definitely made me feel like I'd seek out other Dani Atkins books. Thoroughly recommend.
When Gemma's fiance Finn doesn't turn up to their wedding she is devastated. Why would he do that when everything seemed to going so well? Something isn't right and she decides to look for him to find out answers. When she discovers that he has cleared out his flat and withdrawn his savings from their joint account she starts to revaluate their relationship. Is history repeatibg itself? Did he get cold feet and flee to Australia or could he be in trouble of some sort? I found this book a little difficult to get into at first, as Finn's character came across as a bit arrogant, but i'm glad I persevered as once the mystery started to unravel I wanted to know more and couldn't put the book down!
I really enjoyed this book. It begins with us meeting Gemma who is about to get married to Finn ... but then he doesn't turn up on his wedding day and we spend the next 6 days while she tries to find out why he has disappeared and where he is.
I loved how the books flicks between past and present and we go back to the time when they first met.
I also really got to like the other characters and relationships they had with her best friend Hannah and dad. Especially how they both treat this differently but at the same time are both on her side.
This is a heartwarming book about true love, trust, heartbreak and hope.
I will be recommending this book and looking out for more from Dani
Thankyou Netgalley for the ARC of Six Days by Dani Atkins in return for my honest review.
Oh my gosh that was a rollercoaster of a ride of emotions. I devoured this book in one sitting it’s so well written that once you start it’s impossible to put down, with characters you’ll love from the start at times you’ll want to shout at them then hug them the next. If you’re going to read one Romance book this year then make sure its this one you will not be disappointed.
This story had me hooked from the beginning, it is well written and rolls along at a nice pace to keep me interested. There is a lot of emotion in this book, starting with Gemma standing at the church wondering where the hell her fiance is. Dani Atkins set the scene really well and I could picture the looks of family and friends and onlookers as the clock ticked on and still no bridegroom. The story switches between the present day and the couple's past, which gave me a real insight into the couple's characters.
I really loved Gemma's loyalty, faith and tenacity, especially in the face of everyone else being convinced Finn had changed his mind., even the police aren't concerned. She is determined to find out what happens and luckily, will not give up. Finn grew on me once I learned more about his history. I thought the characters were really well written and very believable.
I found it hard at times to put this book down, especially as the story neared its conclusion, day six, I was desperate to find enough time to just read it without interruption and find out what happened! I can definitely recommend this story.
Dani Atkins is a great writer and all of her books are full of emotions - this one is no exception but for me this was not one of my favourites from her.
I did enjoy the flashbacks that built up the story of Gemma and Finn but found some of the details just a touch too unbelievable. That said the plot kept me hooked and I wasn't sure how things were going to turn out right up until the end and then everything slotted into place and careful hints dropped earlier on suddenly made sense.
Overall an enjoyable and well written love story that is full of suspense and had me invested throughout.
With thanks to Netgalley/Aria for the ARC
A true love story based on the relationship between Finn and Gemma - full of twists and turns and kept me turning pages with enthusiasm - the last couple of chapters my heart was racing as I could not wait to reach the conclusion. A great read
Gemma and Finn are soulmates and destined to be together. But when she is jilted at the altar on her wedding day. It is only her that believes that something has happened to him. She knows in her heart that he wouldn’t just leave. But her dad and her best friend Heather and the rest of her family and friends think that he has had cold feet like previous instances in their relationship.
So, she tries and reports him missing to the Police but, the police says that she hasn’t got enough evidence that he is missing. She can only report him missing after 7 days. So, the story starts for Gemma to find Finn in the next 6 days.
The story goes back in forth in time, revealing the highs and lows of their relationship and the events that happened which determined what happened in the days building up to her Wedding Day. Has Finn just left and didn’t love her at all or has something bad happened to him and he loves her after all?
Thank you, Head of Zeus, for a copy of Six days by Dani Atkins. This is another fabulous page turner from the author I could not put it down especially the ending to find out what happened to Finn. The is a great love story, involving the ups and downs and complexities in a relationship and a turning point in it to find that they are the one. It such an emotional book. I loved every minute it. 5 stars from me.
When Finn fails to turn up at the Church for their wedding, Gemma is devastated. But unlike her guests, she is convinced that something has prevented him. His flat is cleared of all his belongings, his car is missing, his best man has been unable to contact him. The police, though, are unwilling to become involved, saying that it looks as though he has chosen to disappear. After a week, they say, it is fairly certain that he will not want to be found. So Gemma determines to spend the six times left of that time trying to find him.
I enjoyed this book very much. I thought the characters were particularly well created. They had definite personalities and they interacted believably with one another. Until halfway through the book, I was completely on board with the plot.
SPOILER!
But from then on I itched to edit it. The pacing began to go off and the balance of narrating voices went really askew. Most of the story was told from Gemma's perspective, some in flashback, some as it unfolded, but towards the end Finn's voice joined in and that jarred with me. I think we needed to hear from him earlier. And the ending felt flat. It was too rushed and not dramatic enough to warrant the build-up. And, on a personal note, I was irritated by yet another fictional female character behaving like an idiot and putting herself in danger.
I have absolutely loved this book, it’s romantic, pulls at your heartstrings, a really believable scenario and characters, an ideal book for the summer hols.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
The day Gemma and Finn are getting are married has arrived, Gemma is ready to be with Finn forever. She arrives at the church but Finn becomes a no show. Family and friends seem to think he has decided that her doesn’t want to marry Gemma and has disappeared. She is convinced he is missing but as she tries to find evidence to back up her theory she finds things that point to him doing a runner. Gemma continues to search for him for the next six days. Will she get the result she wants and find Finn or wil she have to give up looking for him forever.
Brilliant book from Dani.
Such a brilliant book! I was hooked from the first page and finished it in 24 hours. I don't want to say anything about the plot as it will give the game away, but there are plenty of twist and the characters are so real. A must read.
Six Days opens with Gemma on her wedding day, she's completely in love and can't wait to marry Finn... the only problem is he doesn't show up to the wedding.
What follows is an examination of their relationship as Gemma desperately tries to find out what went wrong and why he would do this to her. Flashbacks take us from the moment they met, to right up before the wedding. Gemma is convinced there must be an explanation as to why he didn't show, and as you read and fall in love with Gemma and Finn you'll likely believe that too.
A gorgeous book with such heart, I absolutely loved it.
Its Gemma and Finn's wedding day. Everyone is there except for Finn.
Gemma is convinced something has happened to him but no-one else believes her. How can she make them see Finn like she does? However as the days go by even she is beginning to doubt herself.
I forgot the premise of this novel when I turned to reading it so it was all a surprise. The story of Gemma being left at the altar unfolds, her frantic worry that turns into deep heartbreak and a sense that something is deeply wrong while around her all believe he's a love rat who has form. By around 75% through, I stopped caring because it was clear that Finn is a love rat and I couldn't engage with a woman who couldn't see it. And then, well, you'll have to read for yourself.
This novel does mix, if briefly, a first person narrative with a third, a style which seems to be gaining in popularity. and I'm not sure I really like it. I can see why it's done, but I'm not entirely convinced.
I read this in three days; it was gripping and one has to know what happened to mean Finn didn't attend his own wedding, and, in that, the novel becomes more detective story than romance.
I enjoyed it and though it isn't the kind of novel to change your life, it will make a few days of it better.
It is the day of Gemma’s wedding. As she sets off with her dad, the last thing she expects is to be told to go round the block by Finn’s best man. She’d had a feeling in the pit of her stomach since she’d not received a reply from her husband to be that something wasn’t right. Her groom not turning up was the very last thing she expected.
Gemma is so sure Finn would never leave her but as she checks things out it’s looking more and more likely that he has. Heartbroken but in need of answers, whatever they may be, Gemma starts to look deeper into Finn’s disappearance.
Oh my goodness! What an emotional rollercoaster this book was. From the moment I started reading it I knew it was going to be a book I couldn’t put down. You are taken on a journey of now, when Gemma is looking for her wayward fiancé and back to the time when they first met. I love how it told their story and how Gemma refused to give up searching, no matter what the outcome. This book is so addictive and I would 100% recommend it. Brilliant.
I loved this book so much, I just did not want it to end. Wasn't sure it was 'my' type of book but I devoured it and was totally immersed in the story and lives of Gemma and Finn. Please do read it and enjoy!
This was a change from books that I normally read but I really enjoy books written by Dani Atkins as I know that they are always good and I see them as my go to books when I need something different to read.
This is well written, with a good storyline. It is believable and is written in both the past and present times. Overall a good read, if a little predictable.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for the digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
Don't ya just love an enemies to lovers trope?!? I do and thats kinda what we had here. Gemma took an almost instant disliking to Finn from the beginning but as the story unfolds we see them soon fall in love.
But it wasn't without their hurdles! I loved the drama throughout and the angst of the build up in their relationship. The story flitted from present day to the past where we got to know them and their lives and to read about them falling in love!
The story really does have you gripped and I found myself being a true cynic and thought the worst when Gemma got jilted on her wedding day! Guess I wasn't the only one that thought this as so did everyone else.. but Gemma was adamant that she is the love of Finn's life, his soulmate, and he wouldn't just walk out on her... or did he?
Dani Atkins is a superb author and I've loved every one of her books that I've read so far and this was no exception. Easy to
Read, not too many characters to confuse matters and a great plot! Loved it!!!
This was a simple, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
It is Gemma and Finn's wedding day qnd Gemma is completely ready to spend the rest of her life with Finn except Finn doesn't show up to the church. Everyone is convinced he got cold feet except Gemma who is worried something has happened to him. The police won't open a missing persons case unless he is missing 6 days. Gemma must find something signing to prove he didn't leave willingly. A wonderful book that shows the strength of love, has lovely funny moments and I loved the friendships and relationships of the characters within the story. Q lovely feel good read.
Bit of a cheesy love story, with a bit of mystery and suspense and overall I loved it.
A really easy read and one I couldn't put down until I got to the end, really likeable characters and a good solid story. Gemma and Finn are to be married, they are madly in love, but come the wedding day, Finn is nowhere to be found.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.
Will definitely be looking out for more Dani Atkins books.
Wow another amazing book by this author. A story of a couple where everything seems to go wrong get fate insists they stay together. This is a true story of love and hope even when things unravel.out of control. I would love there to be a sequel to this book.
A big 5 stars from me
I always love this authors books and this one was no exception.
A real true love story with beautiful believable characters which kept me turning the pages. My attention was captured from start to finish. It was a nice touch to have a little mystery and suspense added too.
This is a must read.
Six Days by Dani Atkins got me right from the start and there were so many moments when I wanted to skip ahead to the end because I couldn’t wait to see how it ends.
We follow Gemma through the hardest time of her life - being left at the altar by the love of her life Finn, without any message or even the slightest clue about his whereabouts.
The one person she was sure is her soulmate and bestfriend left her and even though no one believes her, she knows that Finn didn’t just get cold feet. Gemma is sure that something bad must have happened to Finn but without any support from the police, she feels helpless, dissapointed and left alone. The police officer just tells her that most people who disappear usually turn up within a week. For the next 6 days Gemma turns the whole town upside-down but there’s no sign of Finn. As the days go by she is going through all the emotions: dissapointment, heartbreak, anger, sadness, hope and anxiety.
Believe me when I tell you that I felt everything with her - I felt so sorry for her and it also made me so angry that the police didn’t believe her just because they had to stick to their procedure. I also felt anxious a lot of the time but the way we got to know Gemma and Finn and their love story also made me smile a lot.
All in all I gave this story 4 stars and I would definitely pick up a book by this author again.
I’ve always enjoyed Dani Atkins books but like the last one of hers I read, The Wedding Dress, this one is very much a story of romance – a love story. Unlike Dani’s previous books however, I find they aren’t quite such tragic stories as they used to be and I miss that very much. It therefore took me a long while to grow to like this one. Once we’ve established that Finn hasn’t turned up for his wedding the story takes the reader back and forth from past to present. It tells of the refusal of Gemma to accept that Finn has had a change of heart. She doesn’t believe he would just not turn up knowing how devastated Gemma would be.
The book goes back in time relating how Gemma and Finn met, their whirlwind romance and how much in love they were, and then flipping back to the present and the aftermath of Gemma’s heartbreaking wedding day. I did find this part of the book quite long winded really. If you like a good love story then you’ll be in your element but it’s not really for me and I became a little bored, almost giving up on the book. The thing that kept me going was wanting to know what had happened to Finn and why he didn’t turn up.
Well I’m so glad I carried on because the last part of the story was so good. It picked up at quite a pace and became the trademark style of Dani’s books, those “Oh no” moments, the bated breath, the emotion. So yes, well worth plowing on for what was a brilliant ending.
Nicely written book about the meaning of love. Really makes you want to skip to the end and see what happens but please don't as it is a lovely book and I totally recommend. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
Six Days - Dani Atkins
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫
LIKES
☀️ I genuinely struggled to put this down. The mystery behind what happened to Finn kept me gripped the entire time.
☀️ The two timelines worked really wonderfully and meant the pacing was spot on throughout.
☀️ While I wanted to scream at Finn and Gemma at points (for totally different reasons), people DO behave the way both of them do in real life. It was frustrating, but reflective of the real world where sometimes, people behave like idiots.
☀️ Towards the end, I actually CRIED which says a lot about how invested I was - as I am not a crier at all.
☀️ Gemma’s friendship with Hannah and relationship with her dad were a wonderful addition to the story.
☀️ I never tried to guess the ending. That’s how hyper focused I was on just reading and enjoying the ride.
☀️ The ending!!
DISLIKES
🌙 Not so much a dislike, but it do wish there’d be even a tiny bit of spice 🙊
🌙 I’d like to have known more about the especially Finn’s personality on a slightly deeper level.
A clear 5 star read for me! I was constantly guessing and double guessing throughout trying to work out what had happened to Finn - has he ditched her? Has he been kidnapped? Has he ran off to join the circus? This book will have you imagining all sorts of theories!
I liked the split timeline allowing a peek into how Finn and Gemma met and developed their relationship.
Gemma loves Finn, Finn loves Gemma but he never shows in their wedding day. 6 days Gemma spends trying to prove that Finn would never leave her at the altar.
A true story of the journey to love and romance.
Thanks #netgalley for the advanced copy.
I have enjoyed all of Dani Atkins books so was delighted to be given the ARC of her new novel. It did not disappoint! Wonderfully satisfying and engaging. She makes you care about the characters and their story.
Gemma meets Finn whilst fighting for a car parking space. The path of true love is a bit bumpy but the stormy jumps well between time zones as you see the plot unfold.
I have done messy crying on planes reading her books but this thankfully wasn’t the case here, plus I haven’t been on a plane for ages now!
The reader is kept guessing all the way through as to what happened on that fateful day. It a story of love, hope and never giving up on those things. Kinda perfect for the current climate I think.
I think this is a perfect read for those who want to bury themselves in a good book and shut the world away for a few hours.
Dani Atkins has done it again. With the perfect balance of heartbreak and intrigue this book will have captured your heart long after its ended. I instantly warmed to the characters and my heart broke with Gemma's when Finn didn't show up for their wedding. I just had to find out what had happened to him. I loved the way it flitted between the past and the present so we could be emerged in the start of their relationship as well as sharing Gemmas journey to find Finn.
There are never the words to do a Dani Atkins novel justice. Somehow the stars aline and create a heartfelt, intriguing novel packed with heartbreak, joy and suspense.
This is a beautiful love story and mystery that is totally addictive so clear your diary, feed the pets and kids and make sure you will be uninterrupted for quite some time! Gemma and Finn are so much in love and despite some rocky setbacks along the way are now all set to get married. Gemma turns up at church but where is Finn? Nobody has seen or heard from him since his stag night, his passport has gone and he isn't answering calls. Everybody assumes the worst of him and he is public enemy number one among friends and family. Only Gemma has complete trust in him and is determined to find out the truth. The police won't help saying that, until a person has been missing for six days, they can't launch an official investigation into their disappearance. Gemma has to set out herself to discover why Finn didn't turn up and what this means for their future. I swung back and forth between hating Finn for what he'd done and then wondering if there was there more to his disappearance than meets the eye. I flew through the pages, desperate to know just what happened and was well rewarded by a nail biting and wonderful conclusion. An absolutely fabulous book that I highly recommend. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. Gemma and Finn are madly in love, so she is absolutely devastated when he fails to turn up at their wedding. Friends and family question his commitment, but Gemma is certain that something bad has happened to him. The police are unconcerned so she desperately looks for evidence to give them. As the days go by it looks increasingly likely that Finn has done a runner, but Gemma refuses to give up her search. This is a good read which will keep you on tenterhooks right to the end. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.
Wow! Fantastic!
Such a gripping story of two people deeply in love, whose wedding day looks doomed from the start.
Without going into the plot, it's a compelling look at Gemma particularly, who does not let her grip go for one moment.. Finn doesnt appear quite so much , with good reason.
Than you for a copy of this book for review. I found it a very gripping read.
I’m not sure I can find the words to describe how brilliant this book is. I read this in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down. Without giving away any spoilers I’m not sure what I can say. Gemma and Finn are such well written characters they feel like friends I’ve known for years. I can’t recommend this book enough. Beyond 5 stars
The love between two people radiates from the pages of this book. Dani Atkins has captured how two people know & trust each other so much that they know when something is wrong, they will do everything to find the truth.
Finn & Gemma are getting married. Their journey to the altar was not straight forward, but their love for each other held no bonds. When Finn doesn't turn up for their wedding, Gemma knew something was very wrong with Finn.
Such a good book & I would love to read a sequel. Start writing, please, Dani!
I loved this book, just as I have loved others by Dani Atkins. At first I did sigh, expecting it to be yet another untrustworthy male abandons bride to be at the altar. I was wrong and this was so much more. A real page turner and a feel good novel. Just what I needed to cheer me up in difficult times.
Another brilliant book from this author, I feel as though I have been in a spin dryer following this story, just couldn't put it down. The characters were brilliant I felt as though I knew them personally, such a great story to tell.
I especially liked the different time lines in this book, it was so easy to follow and got me involved from the beginning until the end. I can thoroughly recommend this book, well done Dani and I look forward to your next one.
Thank you to Netgalley and Head of Zeus (Aria) Publishers for this great ARC.
Gemma and Finn loves each other fiercely. Or that what's Gemma believes until Finn stands her up on their wedding day.
Gemma is torn between thinking something bad must have happened to him and thinking he has just changed his mind and left her.
Honestly, it's been a while since I have been surprised by a book. Maybe it's because I read a lot and my imagination is wild, I don't know. But it's just easy to see what's gonna happen.
But then I got this book. And I didn't see it coming. It is beautifully written. Gemma is just the perfect heroine. She is a fighter who will conquer your reader heart.
I loved this story. I was hooked from the very beginning, trying to guess what was happening. Because Dani Atkins plays with us, readers, making us believe different theories. One chapter you believe you know what is happening only to find out you were wrong on the next one.
It's one of the best books I've ever read. I liked it that much, yep.
When you've been in a bit of a reading slump, and just haven't connected emotionally to anything for a long time, it takes something pretty special to pull you out of your funk. And boy, did Six Days do this for me.
It is Gemma and Finn's wedding day. But, only one of them turns up.
Heartbroken, Gemma just knows with every atom of her being, that Finn would not have jilted her. But with no evidence of suspicious circumstances, the police can do nothing to help find him.
As Gemma reflects, we get to see how they met, how they worked their way through some trials and tribulations and just how deeply they love one another.
As the days pass, Gemma's resolve never wavers, and I just fell in love more and more with their story.
I won't spoil anything by revealing what happens to Finn, but for anyone who loves a good cry, Six Days is one for you.
Uplifting, powerful and beautiful, Gemma and Finn's story captivated me and made me remember why I love reading all over again.
I have read and adored each of Dani Atkins’ books and always eagerly await her new one coming out. Six Days is absolutely incredible and I think I have felt every emotion possible whilst reading!
This story is told from the perspective of Gemma who we meet as she is getting ready on the morning of her wedding. She cannot wait to marry her soulmate Finn but when she gets to the church it is clear from the behaviour of Finn’s best man that something isn’t quite right. Even after the Bentley has driven around the block, nothing has changed. Finn hasn’t arrived at the church! But Gemma knows Finn and is convinced he would never abandon her. She feels sure that something terrible must have happened but even the police aren’t concerned, telling Gemma that most people who want to be found will usually turn up in a week. The story then spans the next six days as Gemma is determined to find Finn and trust in their love, even though everyone around her believes she needs to let him go...
I always feel such a deep connection to Dani Atkins’ characters and right from the outset cared so much about Gemma. My heart truly went out to her and in the days following Finn’s absence at the wedding, each new discovery tested Gemma’s resolve to not give up on him even more! I really enjoyed the way that Gemma’s memories were interspersed throughout the present day narrative, as these chapters/flashbacks gave such a powerful insight into the way in which Gemma and Finn’s paths first crossed and all of the moments they shared thereafter. I felt so angry on Gemma’s behalf reading some of these scenes as it felt like the red flags were frantically waving themselves off the page! But it’s sometimes only with the benefit of hindsight that these signs become so important!
I will never forget either how chapter 25 completely floored me! I just did not see it coming at all and Dani Atkins’ writing was so incredibly clever in this regard. I definitely felt like I needed to apologise for some of the thoughts I had whilst reading this book before this chapter! I always found myself racing through the pages, eager to see what would happen next. Even more so when I got to this chapter, as I was desperate to see what would happen in the final quarter of the book.
Six Days is such an incredible and beautiful story and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. I know that I will be thinking about it for a long time to come!
Love Dani Atkins books and this is no exception. Gemma and Finn collide when going for an interview for the same job. It doesn't go well but they keep bumping into each other. On the day of their wedding Finn disappears but Gemma doesn't believe what everyone's saying that he's left her at the altar. Gemma is determined to prove them wrong.
Wow, what have I just read? I didn't expect anything like this, it's so original and well thought and clever!
I was hooked right from the start and literally couldn't put it down, because I absolutely needed to know what was going to happen. Loved it so much I went to buy two other books by the same author (Fractured and A sky Full Of Stars) and can't wait to dig into them as well.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful story full of heartbreak and emotion. Conviction is shown by the jilted bride but is she right in her thoughts...
I love, love, loved this book!
It had the mystery and intrigue that I love from a book, as well as a love (he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not) aspect.
It kept me guessing the whole time and I loved all the twists and turns.
Well I absolutely raced through this book over the weekend! What a beautiful read about love, commitment, trust and belief in your partner. I love Dani Atkins' writing style and find it so easy to get hooked in to her books; Six Days was no exception. I found the characters of Gemma and Finn very believable and found Gemma particularly likeable. Her relationships with her best friend and her father were so genuine and honest. I am so thrilled to have been invited on the blog tour for this book and will be sharing my review on Instagram and Twitter on the appropriate date, but couldn't wait to give it a rating on here so that other readers can know how lovely this book is. I will definitely be recommending Six Days; such a gorgeous book.
It's difficult to review this page turner without any spoilers! The story of a bride jilted who refuses to believe that her groom would have left her deliberately. Told between two timelines, the story weaves together to an unforgettable conclusion about the path of true love.
A feel good romantic novel with an added mystery. Finn doesn't turn up to the church to marry Gemma and everyone thinks she's been jilted. The story jumps between when they first met and present day and had just enough suspense to keep me reading to find out the truth. If a good romance is your thing you'll love this novel.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a chance to read 'Six Days'.
I read a little slow and hard and I broke 1 point from here, although this is a problem caused by me, because the book is very gripping and intriguing.
Gemma was finally going to marry the love of her life, Finn, and her wedding day was going just as it should. Except for one tiny detail; No one has seen the groom for 24 hours and knows where he is! While the guests and their close circle feel sorry for Gemma, who was abandoned by the groom on the wedding day, Gemma insists that Finn did not leave her and is determined to find Finn on her own, despite the police's lack of help. Even if some coincidences make her doubt their relationship.
In the book, we both deal with this unfortunate event that happened to Gemma today and solve this mystery, as well as go back in time and read about Finn and Gemma's relationship. So if you are a romantic comedy fan like me but want to change the genre of the book without going too far, this book is for you!
While reading the past scenes, I couldn't help but fall for Finn along with Gemma, but I always wondered what happened to this man that he left the woman he loved so much on their wedding day? When I learned what had happened, my mouth was wide open, and I started to sob for real!.
Be prepared for mixed emotions as you read the book, Dani Atkins will definitely catch you off guard!
.
Thank you @netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Have read all Dani Atkins previous books, so looked forward to escaping into this one. What a fabulous tale, how do you deal with being jilted on your wedding day? Lots of twists and turns, as Gemma decides what to do
Brilliant story about Gemma who is about to marry Finn but he fails to turn up at the church. Gemma is convinced he has not left her but something must have happened to him but with no evidence of anything amiss the police cannot do anything. Gemma never gives up and along with her best friend Hannah tries to find answers.
Love the way the book goes back and tells how the met and what they have been through, you really feel for Gemma and hope she gets answers, I could not put it down.
Thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend thanks to NetGalley and the publishers.
Wow, wow, wow!
What an emotional six days that was. I was sobbing at the end. Fantastic, I would definitely recommend readers follow Gemmas journey!
What a truly stunning read this book is and Dani never fails to disappoint. Heart warming and beautifully written.
Thank you to netgalley for the oppurtunity to read this book. Im pretty sure this is a first read from this author and I would read more. Was a good story and i didnt see the thing coming. The whole book was based over a six day period, which im presuming is hence the name. Definitely worth giving a read, i would gift it to someone else to read
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I was not expecting a start to this book with a bride being left at the alter.
The story has timeline effect, between past and present. Nice we see how Gemma is trying to find Finn with help from her dad and best friend, when the study goes into the past, we read about how their lives moved towards marriage.
When the two timelines began to come together, I started to think if Gemma was fooling herself and Finn had actually left her. I already found myself unable to put the book down, so now I wanted to know if the two characters got their happy ending or if it would be a different ending.
The story made me cry and laugh, but I loved it all.
Thanks to Netgalley, Head of Zeus and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily. I found the first half of this story a little slow but it picked up towards the end. It's an emotional and quick read and I enjoyed it. I'll definitely be checking this author out in the future.
I’d like to thank Head of Zeus and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Six Days’ written by Dani Atkins in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
There’s an attraction between Gemma and Finn that starts from an inauspicious meeting in a car park and continues through his many absences to Australia, then to the day of their wedding. Except that their wedding day doesn’t go as planned as she’s left waiting at the church for a fiancée who doesn’t turn up. Gemma’s convinced he would never abandon her and has a terrible feeling something’s happened so for the next six days she searches for him.
‘Six Days’ is a exceptional love story that describes Gemma’s belief in Finn and the lengths she’ll go to find him. While each of the six days passes, the story frequently moves back in time to when they first meet and we learn more about their relationship. I’ve loved every single character and become totally involved as Gemma searches for Finn, reading continuously as I’ve been unable to put my book down in my need to know what’s happened to him. This is the fourth novel I’ve read by Dani Atkins who in my eyes can do no wrong, and I’m so grateful Head of Zeus have allowed me to read this beautifully written novel. It’s been a joy to read, worth far more than the five stars I’m allowed to give, and I’ve used up quite a few tissues as I’ve finally got to the wonderful ending.
I loved this book. A gripping read, told beautifully which had me hooked from the first page to the last.
A slightly different style for a romantic novel but this author is a master of her craft and captured it so well. The characters were very real.
As always with Dani Atkins’ books, it was a very emotional story.
Highly recommended.
4.5 stars
I loved this book! Clever, original plot and the back story is fed back to the reader in chapters so that your start to build a picture of this groom who has not turned up on his wedding day, leaving his bride utterly devastated!
It’s well written and the characters are extremely likeable. I loved Gemma’s tenacity and her unfailing faith in her Fiance that he would never just not turn up for their wedding.
I literally just sat and read all day yesterday, couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended……..easy five stars from me!
My thanks go to the author Dani Atkins, the publishers and to NetGalley for an advanced e.reader copy of this book.
Gemma is looking forward to the best day of her life, marrying Finn, her soul mate. When Finn doesn't arrive at the church, Gemma's world is turned on its head. Gemma's quest to find Finn and get an explanation leads her to find his flat completely emptied, along with their joint bank account.
Gemma is the only one who believes something has happened to Finn to prevent him getting to the church. He has form for disappearing to the other side of the world and her friends and family struggle to support her search.
Gemma and Finn's back story is told in gradual stages throughout the book and there are tantalising glimpses of what might have gone wrong, which keep you guessing.
I loved this book. A reasonably easy read with a strong story and great characters. The tense build up to the ending was perfect.
Thank you to Head of Zeus and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. More from this author please!
This was a most enjoyable read, by an author I had never read before. I didn’t know what to expect and initially expected the ending to be, shall I say, less uplifting.
A brief spoiler: Gemma’s fiancé Finn doesn’t turn up for their wedding. Most people think he has just disappeared (he has history) but Gemma thinks there is something wrong. The police, her father and friends don’t believe her, but she carries on investigating and eventually finds him. And yes, there is a happy ending!
I liked the way the story was structured, in a series of flashbacks alternating with current time, so that the reader really gets to know the characters, who were very likeable, not just the stars Gemma and Finn, but Gemma’s dad, and Hannah, her best friend.
Definitely a book I will recommend.
Thanks to Head of Zeus and Netgalley for the opportunity to read thisbook.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.
Not my usual genre but I did really enjoy this book and was glad to see Gemma get her happy ending
Oh my goodness, I can't even tell you how much I loved this book!
Gemma meets Finn and their love story is something out of a cliched romcom. Gemma is very annoyed by him at first, in fact, she could do with never seeing him again, but things change and he gets under her skin. After some bumps in the road, they end up getting engaged. But he never shows up at the church on their wedding day.....
I love how this story is told by way of flashbacks, and that I could really feel the "he loves her, he loves her not" rhythm of it all. In the beginning, I was angry with Finn too, for not showing up on his wedding day. But as Gemma and Finn's story got told, I understood Gemma's point of view a little better.
This is one powerful and poignant story. You will be swept away with emotion as the whole story is gradually revealed and the ending will surprise, no doubt. The power of love is real :) I loved the secondary characters in this book as well. Gemma had some really lovely family and friends. As you can tell, I got very emotionally involved with this book!
5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely adore everything about Dani Atkins and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of her books and this is no different.
I absolutely loved Gemma and Finn’s romance. It is so so so cleverly written and keeps you guessing and going backwards and forwards with theories. As a whole I love both of their characters, I think that Finn’s is pure genius.
Absolutely loved reading it and couldn’t put this book down towards the end. I just had to know what happened! My only criticism would be I want to know what happens next! I missed an epilogue!
A beautiful and at times heartbreaking story of a woman that does not stop searching for the man who seemingly left her at the alter, due to her outmost belief in him.
Wow!
We get to read the history of Gemma and Finn’s romance (or in some cases non-romance) in a series of flashbacks, interspersed with the present day after Finn fails to show up for his wedding. The police won’t allow her to report him as a missing person and friends and family believe he jilted her. Despite being buffeted by doubts, Gemma holds on to the belief that Finn would not have voluntarily left her but if that is the case, what happened to him and where is he? A powerful story of love triumphing over logic.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this book. The mystery keeps you turning pages while finding out about how the couple got together. Will recommend to my friends. I might stop crying at the ending in about a week.
This was my first Dani Atkins book, I just popped to the library and borrowed my second! That gives you an indication as to what I thought of Six Days.
The story was beautiful, heartbreaking, humorous and engaging. I didn't want to put it down - the six days that follows Finn's disappearance takes you on a rollercoaster ride.
The dynamic between Gemma and Finn was just lovely and I felt like I was right there with them.
I highly recommend you read it as soon as it comes out!
Thank you NetGalley, Dani Atkins and Head of Zeus for the opportunity to read Six Days in exchange for my honest feedback.
This genre book is my bon bouche. Or my palette cleanser so to speak. To allow me to step away from the usual darker reads that I graduate towards for the majority of my time. But, and this is important. Although I find Romances to be a more lighter read, they still have to have the substance to keep my attention. And I find that this author has just the right balance to do just that.
Gemma and Finn are soulmates. They have had a bit of a rocky relationship in the past but always destined to be together, that much is clear. They have lasted the time and are just about to get married and so spend their final night apart as tradition dictates. Next day, Gemma rocks up at the church only to find that Finn is running late. So... round the block she goes. And goes, and goes, until eventually it becomes obvious that Finn isn't coming.
As time goes by only Gemma is convinced that there is something wrong. Everyone else just thinks that he has got cold feet and run away. He has disappeared before. The police tell her that most people turn up in about a week. Hence the 6 days of the title of the book. But Gemma is determined to find out what is happening, convinced that Finn is proper missing and needs help... If only she could find some evidence to convince them to start helping her...
I loved this book. I loved the whole getting to know the characters and witnessing how they met. Which we see in flashback. Some of their encounters had me right chuckling to myself! The will-they-won't-they times as well as the time apart and re-connection. The whole kit and caboodle held me rapt. All the time I was rooting for Gemma. Her grit and tenacity...
So, what did happen, well, that's not for me to tell you - you'll have to read the book to find out whether we get the HEA.... and what the Happy really means...
My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
I truly wasn't expecting to love this story as much as I did. Nor did I expect it to become one of the few books I have read in one sitting, especially as it had extended flashback scenes woven throughout. I tend to get antsy during chapters set in the past, but that's just me wanting to find out what is happening in the now - I'm just too impatient 😂. Those scenes proved to be utterly necessary, allowing us to witness the development of Gemma and Finn's relationship, as well as their character growth. There was even a point in the book where I very much disliked Finn but all of it, all of it, is relevant to the plot and leads us to a point where eventually everything makes sense.
I loved how during the story the author made our perspective of Finn mirror Gemma's mindset. The story launches with Finn never arriving at the church, for his wedding with Gemma. As an outside observer who doesn't yet know their story, we jump to the same conclusion as her friends, family and other guests... Finn has deliberately disappeared. Gemma is sure something has happened and as we get to know Finn, via the flashbacks, we get to see a kind man who clearly adores Gemma. As the days progress more worrying evidence comes to light, raising questions as to exactly where Finn has gone.
Six Days packs a very powerful emotional punch, from moments that make your heart ache with their promise of love forever to other scenes that make your heart break from hurt and despair. Whilst the ending was a little fantastical it brought a sense of completion, hope and total happiness.
Dani Atkins has done it again.
Gemma has been left standing at the alter so to speak. Her husband to be had not been seen since he left his bucks party early the night before. Everyone thought Finn had done a runner but Gemma couldn’t believe it.
Told in alternative chapters of the present day, alternating over time since they met seven years previously.
Their story is slowly revealed and I must admit, I really didn’t have a liking for Finn for the majority of the novel. But I put my trust in the author and just went on the journey.
I find Dani’s books very formulatic but that doesn’t bother me as I always enjoy her stories and know I’m going to get my emotions going.
Pure escapism, not high brow but sometimes this is exactly what is needed.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy to read.
This was my first Dani Atkins book and it did not disappoint. I don’t know why but going into this book, I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did!
I loved the story and thought it was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time! Some parts were actually really funny and I was very invested in the story.
It’s engaging from the start and I couldn’t wait to find out more about Gemma and Finn’s relationship and the dynamics between them.
I highly recommend you read it!!
This book is in the Romance and Women's Fiction category and as it should be as it genuinely is one of the most romantic book's I've read for a while. It's also completely heartbreaking in places. You will absolutely need tissues for the last 4 or 5 chapters!
Gemma's parents reminded me of my own at times which brought a tear and a smile to my face.
There's not much more to say aside from the fact I absolutely loved this book!
Gemma and Finn are soulmates, at least that's what she believes even when he fails to turn up for their wedding—told in a dual timeline from their first meeting to the days after the wedding that never was. It's a tumultuous journey that encompasses many emotions that immerse the reader in Gemma and Finn's story.
Gemma is a lovely character, driven, loyal and loving of everything she cares about, and Finn is at the top of her list. Her relationships with her father and best friend are strong, but her heart belongs to Finn, and this is clear with every page turned in this engaging read.
The plot is intricate, and the mystery of what happened to Finn remains until the final chapters. The author creates believable characters, and original scenarios capture the reader's interest. I enjoyed the element of mystery, the strong friendship and familial connection, and especially the love that binds Gemma and Finn, making this an epic romance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
Ooh she’s only gone and done it again!
This book had me feeling so many emotions from love to hate, from happy to sad
I was with Gemma every step of the way as she got ready for her wedding to Finn and arrived at the church. I was with her heartbreak for the next 6 days as she tried to discover just what had happened to Finn and as she flashed back to their 1st meeting, 1st date etc
Dani really has a knack with words that makes you feel everything her characters are going through. She truly is one of my favourite authors and I always love reading her books and hating when I get to the end ad know I have to wait for the next one
Highly recommend I will however warn that there could be a trigger warning for some people due to what happens.. I don’t want to say anymore as it could spoil the story
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this title
I found this book a slow burn although written nicely it was just missing something for me until the last quarter and then Wow, I couldn't put it down.
The book starts on Gemma and Finn's wedding day where he stands her up at the church it then covers the following six days with Gemma trying to piece together why Finn didn't show. In amongst her discoveries there are flashbacks giving an insight to when they first met and various points in their relationship.
Thank you to Netgalley and Head of Zeus for the ARC.
When you meet the love of your life and your weeding is approaching but he does not turn up at the church. Everyone believes he has jilted you and run of becuase there is no indications of where he has gone but you have unwavering belief that this is not the case. As time passes everyone tries to make you believe that he left you.
The certanity this this is not true is overwhelming. Read the emotional journey from two ends of the relationship.
enjoy beacuse I certaily did, but have a packet of tissues at the ready just in case you need them!!
Gemma is left standing at the church on her wedding day when her fiancé, Finn doesn’t turn up. Nobody can find him, everyone thinks he has got cold feet and left her, and to be honest, it certainly looks that way! Gemma though, says he would never do anything like that, and is convinced something has happened to him. She goes to the police who tell her that most missing people return after a week, and she needs to wait six days before she can report him as missing. We then follow Gemma over those six days as she tries to work out where Finn is and what, if anything, has happened to him…
I loved this book! I became hooked into Gemma’s storyline right from the first page. My heart broke for her, not just because he didn’t turn up but because she didn’t know what had happened to him. I liked Gemma’s character and found her storyline swinging between her insistence that something had happened to him and perhaps he never really loved her at all really quite emotional. I’ve read books previously by this author, so I knew this was going to be a bit of a heart-wrencher, but I thought it was cleverly done how there was so much doubt and suspicion as to why Finn didn’t turn up for the wedding. I won’t say anything else about Finn and Gemma for fear of spoilers though, as the whole book had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened, and I really wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone else!!
The book moved along at a great pace, marked off with the chapters counting the six days. The storyline switched between present day and Gemma and Finn’s past, and as the story moved on and you saw how they had been throughout their relationship, it definitely gives you food for thought as to what had happened to Finn. My opinions changed as I read, and I must admit to being left open mouthed with the reveal! I absolutely loved this book and once started I struggled to put it down and it had finished in just over a day, much to the detriment of everything else I needed to get done!! This was a heart-breaking, emotional read with lots of questions and mystery as to what really happened. Would definitely recommend!
I absolutely loved this book and am so thrilled to have discovered a new author in the process as haven’t read any of this authors books before and will now be going through their back catalogue.
This book has so many facets and twists and turns and was so much more than just a typical romance novel. It was also a story of mystery and intrigue and the gut wrenching belief by Gemma that her beloved Finn couldn’t have just disappeared off the face of the earth With no explanation.
Once i had started reading I couldn’t put it down and was grateful it was a bank holiday weekend to allow me to keep reading. I now feel like I need to go and lie down in. Dark room and decompress from the book hangover it has left me with. This is up there in one of my top reads of 2022 so far.
A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read from me and one that I highly recommend.
A good,, easy read. Romance with a twist. It is impossible to guess how this story is going to end which makes it a book must finish. Loveable characters all round
A good read, lovely story written across two timelines and with very relatable characters.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
I got totally lost in this book. Gemma was a great character to follow. I loved her relationships with Hannah, her dad & Finn. Six Days cleverly trod a line where, as a reader, you want to trust Gemma's instinct but the story is making you question everything.
The timeline moving between the present & the past history of Gemma & Finn's relationship was a nice touch and I loved the way the story was revealed.
It's the wedding day of Finn and Gemma.
Only one of them has turned up at the church.
Gemma knows that she and Finn are perfect together so can't believe those around her saying that he's jilted her. She's adamant that something's happened to him, even if her family, friends and even the police disagree. She's told that if a missing adult wants to be found, they will be within a week. For the next six days, Gemma frantically searches for him, until even she finds herself doubting her memories of their relationship.
This book is brilliantly plotted, weaving the six days narrative with the preceding seven years, showing the progression of their dynamic and the strength of their feelings in a deeply compelling way. The writing style is beautifully evocative building complex and endearing characters. It's a romance that recognises the foibles of humanity but revels in how these connect us with others and bind us together. Atkins has a profound understanding of people.
Whilst I loved much of what this story entailed, I periodically found myself taken out of the narrative as I became frustrated with Gemma's actions. Everything she does is logical, or at least understandable, however, the fact she is a journalist (and works in such a way) is emphasised regularly but without the expected outcome. It takes her too long to make connections that the reader makes easily.
The novel opens on Finn and Gemma’s wedding day with Gemma getting ready and her feeling so happy to be marrying the love of her life. But when she arrives at the wedding venue Finn’s nowhere to be seen. Gemma can’t believe he just stood her up and dashes to his apartment where she comes to the devastating conclusion that his apartment is completely empty! Still she doesn’t want to believe he simply left her without a word, there must be an explanation.
Gemma turns to the police but he wouldn’t be the first groom to get cold feet. They tell her most of the missing persons return of their own volition in 6 days, hence the title of the novel but will Finn return in 6 days or not? Gemma isn’t the type to sit there waiting until the police really spring into action and consider it a disturbing disappearance so she does everything in her power to find him even if this means it’s almost a single woman’s search as the people around her want her to accept the situation and go forward.
I admired Gemma for believing so hard in them and not giving up even though I had moments too that I wasn’t sure about Finn. Through flashbacks I learned how they met, I witnessed the progression of their relationship and I felt Finn’s love for Gemma and yet I had a few moments of doubt too. One of Finn’s flaws in the past didn’t speak in his favour and there were hints here and there that they’d had an argument of sorts, something they’d disagreed on, so maybe that was enough for Finn to change his mind?
I’m not going to say how this will end but day 5 and 6 had my heart pounding! By then I knew where Finn was – even if Gemma still didn’t – but it didn’t take away any of the suspense. Even so, there were still loose ends and I still couldn’t see how exactly it all fit together and how it could all be explained but the author made a very plausible story out of it.
Six Days is a beautifully told emotive novel that you’ll not get through untouched. This novel has mystery, love and anguish and if you’re ready for it, I recommend you let her pull at your heart strings too!
Great read and didn't want to put it down. Although this set over six days it does go back and forth in time but it needs to do so. Don't be put off by that as it is needed to bring the whole story together. 5 stars, enjoy.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
This book is so heart-wrenching and so emotional that I had to have tissues on hand. I became so invested in what had happened that I ended up reading into the early hours!
Gemma was such a strong character who refused to give up on Finn. At times your heart just broke for her, especially when things came to light. Through flashbacks we get to learn more about Finn and honestly I had no idea if he had done a runner or had just disappeared.
This is my second Dani Atkins book and I just love her writing so much. She just has this amazing way of storytelling that just has you completely captivated and hooked. I really do recommend picking this one up!
Dani is a new author to me, but wow, I certainly wasn't expecting that ! What a great read, didn't want to put it down
Can't wait to read another of her books if this was anything to go by
Read this on a sun lounger and was an ideal holiday read - made me smile, made me cry and so wanted it to not be what it seemed when he didn't turn up at the wedding. The book took you on a journey and showed that people do change but we are often judged by our past actions.
Oh my heart! I almost couldn’t stand it toward the end, almost shouting at Gemma to move faster and Finn to stay awake. What a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book, I have to say I swayed both toward him being kidnapped/running to an accident, I even considered if he was leading some sort of double life. Then as more things clicked into place and people began to believe Gemma who never gave up hope that wouldn’t leave her I just couldn’t read fast enough. What an amazing book, and as usual with Dani Atkins books they will stay with me for a long long time.
Gemma was left jilted at the altar by the love of her life Finn. Gemma is determined to find him and get answers. The story moves between the present and the timeline of their relationship. You are able to gain an insight to both of the characters and find answers to how this has happened. I was totally invested in the characters and the book is so well written.
Six Days
This is the second of Dani Atkins books that I’ve read and this one sounded particularly intriguing when I read the blurb. Gemma is all ready to marry the love of her life - so when she turns up at the church to find Finn isn’t there everyone assumes she has been jilted. Gemma’s friends and family rally around her to help her see sense, that maybe Finn just doesn’t want to marry her. Gemma is adamant that Finn loves her and he wouldn’t let her down…the trouble is he’s done it before.
I really liked Gemma, her puzzlement at Finn’s disappearance and her desperation to find him and convince him to come back. I found the story funny, fast paced and generally enjoyable. A great romantic comedy with a mysterious twist.
I thought 'This Love' was hard to beat but Dani Atkins has surpassed it this time. A hugely romantic, emotional read that just grabbed at my heart and didn't let go. Would Finn really abandon Gemma on their wedding day? While everyone else tutted about the rat who had jilted her, Gemma refused to believe it. He loved her, didn't he? He couldn't just pack up and disappear without even a sorry. Dani Atkins knows exactly how to pour emotion onto the page. So many questions, but when the answers come, they had me in floods of tears. Dani Atkins is my new favourite author!
Gemma and Finns story was unforgettable! It was a rollercoaster of a story set over six days following the wedding that never was . No spoilers but this book was special!
So many twists and turns to the story and a brilliant story
I would highly recommend this story
Thank you to Aria, Head of Zeus and Netgalley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
A love story between Gemma and Finn that goes disastrously wrong when Gemma arrives at the church for her perfect wedding day but Finn is a no show.
This book is divided with the six days following Finns disappearance and past events from when they met.
Gemma is convinced something has happened to Finn as their love is so strong but her dad and best friend suggest that she has been jilted and to let Finn go. Gemma shows determination in this intense story and her belief in their love is unwavering even when there are signs that Finn really has done a runner. Gemma listens only to her conscience and will stop at nothing until she finds the answers she is seeking.
Six Days is another great book from Dan Atkins with an exciting plot that held my attention. My thanks to Net Galley and to the publishers Head of Zeus for the digital advanced readers copy.
Gemma and Finn are soulmates but on their wedding day he doesn’t arrive at the church.
Over the next six days Gemma frantically searches for Finn despite her loved ones believing she has been jilted.
I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it.
