One of the most important tasks as a parent is to teach your child the necessary skills to survive on its own in the real world, to prepare them for an independent life and I highly believe that you can't start early enough with this. Montessori is all about empowering your child to be independent and to master their skills. This book guides you step by step through everyday life skills and how to teach them to your toddler/child. It's simple to understand for your child and you as picture show the frequence of every task with simple explanations. It guides you and your child through each step and taking the guess work out for you. I loved this book even as a not 100% Montessori family I think it is an absolute must read. And for those who want to start Montessori at home I highly recommend this.

What a fantastic book to use with / alongside children to teach them all the basic skills they need to be able to help out with basic chores around the house. It has very clear, simple and child-friendly photographs to help guide the child step by step through each job. This treasure of a book will help build a child’s confidence with day to day tasks, helping them believe they can do things for themselves. This sense of independence will help any child to develop a healthy mindset of just having a go. The added section at the end for parents /carers is a real bonus too.

Thank you to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

She loves to help but since reading this as our bedtime story last weekend she wants to do all the things! Thanks again! We will definitely be adding this to our books to gift our friends!

Each chore gives a step by step instructions on home chores such as washing dishes, watering plants, sweeping the floor, etc. Along with the instructions are life pictures of young children doing these chores.

Along with that, parent tips to encourage your child for these skills. A great read along, talk about, and live out!

This is such a great book to teach children some of the very important life skills. I really liked how the author depicted the step -by-step instructions for each life skill . I also thought that the illustrations were very easy to follow for children to lean the life skill.
I would highly recommend this book . It would make a great addition to any school or home library !

Saniyyah Khalilallah did it again with a fun guide to introducing your children to the Montessori way. The implementation of these skills would be easy and fun, especially letting kids see the pictures included in the guide. The chart is a great idea to help children learn to self-guide. Great resource for both Montessori households and non-Montessori households alike, as we all want our children to learn to help out at home and want ideas on how to make it more fun!

I love this practical, diverse, well laid out Montessori material. Montessori's principals of real life, order, and approachable for age level are well laid out in this cute resource book! I love that children can see the steps, see the materials they need, and then replicate them well. I would put this in both my home and my classroom as a Practical Life material.

I Help at Home is a book for younger children to learn how to complete simple tasks at home. It includes photographs of a diverse assortment of children performing those tasks. There are also pictures of the tools needed to complete each task. The tasks include: sweeping, washing windows, dusting, cleaning my bedroom, mopping, scrubbing the table, setting the table, washing dishes, making a bouquet, caring for plants, and doing laundry. These step by step instructions are inspired by traditional Montessori classroom lessons. There is also a section for grown ups to show why it is important to teach young children these tasks. The child also has a section where they can slide when the task is complete.
This would be perfect for parents/ caregivers of young children. It would also be good in a preschool class to teach the skills even if they are not necessarily implementing those skills in a classroom setting. This would be great for a special education classroom that teaches functional skills.

absolutely phenomenal for chilcare experts and parents alike. i always loved the montessori style of teaching, so this gave great examples of how to implement it for parents at home as well, and in fun ways children will enjoy and feel accomplished with.

I really enjoyed looking at this book. I think it is a great tool for my kids to visually see how a task is accomplished while also hearing/reading the steps involved with each task. I also liked being able to read and understand how this can help with developing life long skills. It was great seeing that the author took the time to work with a diverse group of individuals to be able to come up with this book.

I Help at Home! by Saniyyah Khalilallah is a fantastic Montessori resource for young children aiming to master independent skills around the home. I loved the easy to follow steps and inclusion of pictures with real children instead of illustrated photos. This useful little book includes a slider for kids to visually show "I did it!" for each skill learned along with tips and guidance for adults at the end of the book.

I will definitely seek out these books once they are published and would recommend for anyone with preschoolers, toddlers, young children seeking more independence, and for children on the spectrum.

Thank you to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

I adore this book!!!! There is so much attention to detail in the ay the book was created. The words are simple and do a great job explaining each step of what to do. The pictures of each step are wonderful and realistic. I plan to buy this book not only for the library but my own children as well!!

This is an educational book about teaching young children (ages 2-5) to perform practical life-skills for themselves. There is a list of twelve tasks and step by step photos and written instructions to show the child how to perform each task. There is also a tabbed checklist for the child to note when they’ve completed a new task and yell; “I did it!”.

The tasks included: Sweeping, Window Washing, Dusting, Clean My Room, Mopping, Scrubbing the table, Set the table, Washing Dishes, Make a bouquet, Caring for plants, Washing Laundry, and Folding Laundry.

I also impressed that there are notes for the caregiver on how to empower the child to learn these new tasks.

Children love to be helpful and learn to do things by themselves. This book is the perfect tool to help them learn basic life-skills.

The author is a certified Montessori educator with over ten years of experience. She uses Montessori philosophy to teach practical life-skills. She created this book to share this experience with you and your child.

I enjoyed everything about this book and think it is fabulous! It could be added to the child’s home library or could easily incorporated preschool, pre-K, or kindergarten class.

I want to thank Author Saniyyah Khalilallah, Storey Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This is a voluntary review, and all comments and opinions are entirely my own.

This is such an amazing resource for helping teach your children basic at home skills such as washing, dusting, keeping their bedroom and play areas clean and tidy. The steps are described simply and easily for the child to understand as well as incredibly helpful pictures to show them what it looks like. Visuals are amazing tools for helping children learn. These books are books all parents should have.

I think this is a fantastic book and I will be purchasing it for my library. My friend taught her daughter these very same skills when she was very young. I was amazed at what she was able to teach a young child. My friend would tell me over and over again how people could not get over her daughter's behavior when she was at a restaurant. Servers and patrons would remark how she was more well mannered than some adults! The illustrations teach each skill step-by-step and the author explains how learning them will form the foundation of the literacy and problem solving skills needed in school. They will also form the foundation for other needed life skills. I will buy the author's other book "I did it Myself" sight unseen.

This is a nice book for young children to help to encourage and teach them how to complete household chores. There are even activities to help make some of these tasks a little more fun!

Washing clothes using a washboard was an interesting choice for a chore in 2022, but I felt the rest were appropriate.

There is section in the back labeled “Guidance for Grown-Ups” with tips about building independence and the Montessori philosophy. There is also an “I Did it Skill Chart” where children can slide open the square to show completion.

The photographs were great teaching tools and also represented children of multiple races.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an early e-copy in exchange for an honest review!

This is a bright and illustrative book that encourages help around the home from your little people. As a previous Montesorri Teacher I have seen some of these in action in the classroom but when it comes to my own children I forgot how easy it can be.
