I read this a Children's book with my twin boys. My boys loved reading the words. This book is great for early readers, and I loved that there was pictures that matched the words to helped the kids learn the words they did not know. I found the pictures cute, and it was fun to read with my boys. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Super cute book to introduce little ones to different outdoor objects. Thank you to netgalley and publisher for the chance to review early.
This book is so cute! I love that it teaches the very basics of things you would see outside of in the garden. This would be perfect for a little one who is just learning to read and loves being outside and in nature. The illustrations were also bright and engaging, and the colors went well with the seasons being discussed. Overall a great book to have if you have young kids.
My Garden is a beautiful toddler board book about the wonderful things in a garden year round. The vibrant pictures and subject matter will really engage young children and get them excited to be outside! I liked that words featured are less common than in many first word books. Words such as: blossom, sunshine, leaping, and a variety of insects. Children will love this one and identifying things from their own yards!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The illustrations are very charming. I think young patrons will like seeing the different garden scenes depicted throughout the book. It's nice that it goes through different seasons so we can see how gardens change. I liked that a garden on a balcony was depicted in a couple images. It's nice to see different living spaces and types of gardens reflected.
My Garden by Happy Yak is the perfect book for young kids learning to read. It is full of powerful and popular vocabulary words, each of which is paired with a cute illustration. It is vibrant but not overcrowded, so kids can focus on each word and picture but not lose interest. This book is great for teaching kids more about the outdoors, and will help kids be able to identify more things in the garden and yard!
Happy is the perfect first name for the author/illustrator of this book. Happy Yak’s other books have brought a smile to my face and this one did as well. Geared toward the youngest kids, here is a lovely introduction to gardens and seasons. The illustrations are so joyful. In addition, this title will help to build children’s vocabularies. Different categories of words are included; some name objects, while others are words for actions, feelings or states of being. There are 100 words in all.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Great book for introducing vocabulary! Many 100 word books only cover the basic words, but this one is super rich in language (for example: blossom instead of flower)! Highly recommend for building vocabulary at home or at school around the seasons!
This is a really fun, colorful, and educational book. My son enjoyed pointing out the pictures and repeating the words back to me.
The illustrations are beautiful, engaging, and eye-catching for my two year old son.
I highly recommend this book for anyone with a toddler at home who loves the different seasons!
A short and cute children's book that centres around activities, items, plants, animals and other stuff you can find and do in the garden. I think this book will be of great help to those who try to teach kids about vocabulary and spelling.
May I add that the illustrations are super cute, the cast of characters is quite diverse with most of them being people of color and there is disability rep (one of the children wears a hearing aid).
In my opinion, even if you don't use it as a way to help children learn, this book can still be enjoyed by them, since it features characters that are children as well and they can actually relate to.
I think this was a very cute little book. The art was good, and definitely interesting enough to keep a child occupied while learning to read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Happy Yak for a free digital copy.
What a wonderful board book full of words attached to feelings as well as things. It covers all the seasons and has some fun words that you don't regularly see in books like these.
I love a good book that can be enjoyed in many ways at many levels and My Garden delivers! My 5 year-old and 1 year-old both delighted in the illustrations, each of them responded to different words, actions, and images, and I loved the story time I got with my littles.
I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this eBook.
I requested this ebook because I have been trying to get my 3 year old interested in gardening. We've been reading the book and trying to find the same or a similar thing in our garden. My daughter has been loving this activity so far. The pictures are vibrant and beautiful!
