This was a really interesting read that was well written with an engaging and gripping storyline and well developed characters. I finished it really quickly, an enjoyable read.
I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a very long time. The writing was well-crafted and kept my attention to the very end. I loved the characters, and the concept was intriguing. I'm excited to learn where the series goes from this point on!
Some swears and sensual language, along with some errors, but not enough to hamper my enjoyment. Great book; I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!
Set in New Earth Johari Hightower is sentenced to Elimination for a crime he did not commit. In order to try to prove his innocence, he escapes INTO the House, a place where everyone is forced to enter at some point, but only the purest come out (and their never allowed to speak about what happens inside). Johari believes if he can escape the house, then his innocence will be accepted. However, he could never have known the horrors he will have to endure.
This book is wild, creepy, and fast paced. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Set for publication June 22, 2022, this would make an excellent summer read for all of my students-perhaps around a summer night campfire! I loved this book!
This was a very engaging and intriguing fantasy though it would have benefited from a it more backstory and world building . The characters were also strangers and even as they learned about the strange and dangerous world they inhabited and the challenges they faced, we, the readers learned also and came to know and understand more of the true nature of the characters and the challenges they faced if the were to be allowed to escape the malevolent House into which teens were sent and so few ever emerged again.... No explanations were ever given...it simply was an accepted rite of passage. At times several would go in with only one emerging safely and sometimes, no one emerged.....But, this time some would emerge while others perished....And now, what was to become of the survivors who swore an oath no one else would ever again be forced into that Hell.... This is not normally quite my kind of fantasy read.... but it really " grew " on me and I will be reading the next in the series....
This book wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. It had decent character building for the main character, tho the others were a little hit or miss. The House itself was really interesting - I liked the premise, and the way it changed for each person. Overall, a good quick read.
Shadow House by A.R. Silverberry was a gripping sci-fi/fantasy book from start to finish! If I could I would definitely give this more than 5 stars! The main character is relatable. The supporting characters add great depth to the storyline. I absolutely could not put this book down! The Shadow House itself was intriguing and scary. I can't wait for the next book of this series!
