As if navigating the seventh grade weren't challenging enough for twelve-year-old spy aficionada Ophelia (Phee) Mahoney, she's caught in an avalanche of trouble when she investigates a classmate's disappearance on a school ski trip and a hit-and-run that leaves a friend in a coma.
The town's sheriff, who's also the father of Phee's crush, considers the hit-and-run an accident, but Phee thinks a sinister motive was behind it. Aided by her friends, Jeopardy!-obsessed Joshua and jockette Kimiko, Phee puts her life on the line to bring justice to her home town.

This book is meant for middle school/P7 and S 1/2. This book covers so many topics within a fun story of adventure and mis-adventure; friendship, self-worth, social responsibility, growing up, first crushes, possible family loss, and not least snowboarding. Well worth picking up for a younger reader, adults will enjoy but may have to suspend their belief. Thank you to Bronzeville Books and NetGalley for the ARC. Definitely a YA mystery masterpiece. I was with Opehlia (Phee) all the way. While, most the supporting characters were painted extremely well; the future boyfriend, not so much. This was a bit disappointing. I believe that all the parents out there should buy this for their daughters. It showed a strong female lead, even as the girl was filled with self-doubt. Very well written. Hurray for Twist Phelan!

An unpredictable YA mystery that kept me guessing with all the twists. A super quick and easy read-in-one-sitting, decently crafted novel with likable enough characters.
This is a well-paced mystery, which swirls around themes such as friendship, responsibility, and snowboarding.
We meet Phee as she heads out on a school trip for skiing and snowboarding, something she is dreading since she claimed to be better at the sport than she is. While there, a fellow classmate disappears and the mystery begins.
The mystery is laid out with enough surprises to keep the reader guessing until the end. While Phee does have her hands full with figuring things out, the other drama also is nothing to ignore. I did find Phee a little harsh, at first, but she warms up as the story progresses. The friendships formed, mistakes made, and life lessons surrounding personal growth will ring true to readers of the age group.
