This is a fun book!
It's an interesting taking on the charcuterie/grazing board trend and makes it portable and individually sized. While some of the ideas aren't super practical for dinner parties, there's a lot of great ideas! It's the first time I've seen glass covers or other similar setups. There are ideas for different themes and recipes for some of the ingredients included in the book.
Lots of cute snack ideas!
I can't express just how clever I think this idea is and how perfect it is for people looking to entertain safely in this new world we live in! The mix of foods are super creative as is the presentation. I couldn't come up with any of this on my own, but fortunately now I don't have to. I can just turn to a new page and follow the instructions!
I think this is a neat book. I love the idea and think we've all been probably doing this without it having a proper name. I like that the author included vegan options in the book and even for the ones that are not, I can substitute with a vegan alternative.
Ever a fan of a good pun and an original way to enjoy good food., I couldn't resist requesting Jarcuterie and I am glad I did. It's an incredibly fun book, filled with inviting combinations of charcuterie arranged neatly in fun sized portions. They are perfect for entertaining, buffets, lunchboxes, and picnics. There's tips on how to arrange your jarcuteries as well as every recipe you will need. There's all the classic combinations you know and love, but my favourite pages were the ones themed for special occasions. Those are the ones I cannot wait to make and photograph, and I can't wait to begin.
Thank you to Suzanne Billings, Rock Point Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
“JARcuterie” is a fun and inspiring book with some great ideas for single-serve entertaining. Like many people, my friends and I had to adapt our socializing during the pandemic. Gone were the days when we could comfortably have serve-yourself potlucks inside each other’s homes, but we quickly adapted to having driveway and backyard gatherings with individualized portions. Even with eased restrictions and concerns, we have kept up bringing and sharing prepackaged food and drinks—we’ve just found it easier for distribution and leftovers! So this book is perfect for me and my social circle.
Some of the ideas that I’m excited to try:
* Making edible mini charcuterie boards from slices of bread cut into board shapes
* Repurposing egg cartons as containers for Easter-themed snacks
* Assembling Asian-inspired cups with items like wasabi peas and Pocky sticks
I appreciated the breadth of themes and the many food-styling tips. My only wish is that there were more jarcuterie concepts that were easily portable. Most of the presentations were in open jars or paper cones, which could fall out or apart if you’re moving them to a picnic in the park or a gathering at someone else’s home. The author did give some tips on how they could be carefully transported, I’m just unsure of how well some of the more complex and delicate designs could stay together on a drive.

What a great idea! This book is full of many different individual snack options for all sorts of holidays and occasions. So fun and practical; I look forward to trying some of these out! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this fantastic twist on the popular charcuterie boards! Perfect and fun ways to serve your guests appetizers without the worry of double dipping, too. Author Suzanne Billings breaks everything down to simple step by step instructions - I feel like I can easily duplicate these and I can't wait to try!
Thank you Netgalley for the early addition of this book.
I can not wait for this to come out in print! It is so amazing. So many ideas for entertaining. I can't wait to give a few jars and host a few parties.
Great photography and very easy to read recipes.
Well done!
Well, I said I was done reviewing charcuterie board cookbook, but here I am reviewing another one. I couldn't pass up the idea of a charcuterie board fitting into a jar. Well this book was creative and gave you a lot of different options for making different jarcuteries in mason jars or glasses. I think this book was good to give you ideas of what to do but was really nothing different from most charcuterie board cookbooks I've seen.
I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
This is such an absolutely fun book that will make you smile and say "Hey, let's celebrate food and life".
Jarcuterie by Suzanne Billings made me smile all the way through. The ideas are so beautifully presented and creative with crisp clear photos! I actually laughed out loud at the Halloween jarcuterie. Pure fun all the way. The font is even fun.
The page 'The Benefits of Jarcuterie' says it all. What I like most about this is for my husband and I it's just two people and when I put out a charcuterie it's too much for two. This helps with not overeating and also quicker cleanup. Also with making just a 'jarcuterie' we'll eat less because sometimes just snacking is enough especially in the summer.
I love everything about this book. It's so well done. As I said the photographs are excellent, the combos inspiring and the creativity makes you smile. Quick, with great attention to detail and the cones clipped to the side of a glass, genius! Also, my margarita glasses will have a new life now. I'll probably do these every holiday when we host in place of plain pedestal fruit cups by their plate they'll have a personalized jarcuterie. Okay, I'm off to make us some jarcuteries for date night and make some goat cheese balls rolled in herbs. Then tomorrow get the stuff to make the ridiculously cute 'Summer Clip-On Snack Cone'.
I'd like to thank NetGalley, the publisher Quarto Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book and to Suzanne Billings for writing such a fun, creative, and inspiring and uplifting book.
Jarcuterie by Suzanne Billings is a very clever book filled with stunning ideas for all things charcuterie. With selections for holidays, events, or just because. It’s not the most practical as a lot of things you probably wouldn’t find in a standard kitchen but for pushing the boat out this is perfect.
I thought the concept of this book was adorable! The book breaks each recipe down but occasion to serve it and the themes are pretty cute. Some of the ingredients may be tricky to find exactly, but substitutions can be made. The options can be healthy as well which is why I rated this book so high! Definitely picking up a physical copy for myself.
Innovative ideas for the presentation of single-portion charcuterie, ideal in a world where we are more concerned about physical contact/mixing and also ideal for parties catering for a wide range of diets. The book is grouped into themes - birthdays, Easter, ball games, and so on. The receptacles range from quite a lot of glassware - ramekins, small Kilner/Mason jars - to some disposable/reusable wooden ones - cones and the like. there is, I'm glad to say, very little single use plastic material. The food itself is fairly as expected - mini sausages with or without blankets, squares of cheese, olives, thinly sliced or diced meat, fruits but they are mixed together rather more than in typical finger-food types events and many have the little nibbles - nuts, mini-crackers etc - in the base of the receptacle. The description claims "a breeze to transport" - not totally convinced about many with regards to that. Many of the 'recipes' are for 4-8 and would be considerably time consuming if you were catering for a party of 20 or so I think as many need preparation fairly soon before the event. Ingredients are easy enough to find although I don't know about the rather garish sweeties or some of the Pretselly things - Pocky sticks?? Very USA I guess. Clear step-by-step instructions, if really needed, and lovely photographs to whet the appetite. Interesting concept and some useful ideas. Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Charcuterie trays have been all the rage in the last couple of years. This book takes that concept to a more personal level. After the last couple of years people might be uncomfortable grazing on a community tray so jarcuterie takes the charcuterie concept to a personal level. Everyone has their own handheld snack tray. These are beautifully put together an look so appetizing. There are jars for holidays and any event you could ever think of. The author shares a wide variety of objects you can use to create these snack jars. You are only limited by your own creativity. These are great for your next party or family game night.
Love this!! I am planning an outdoor get-together soon and found tons of cute, unusual, and clever great ideas! Thank you!
Most definitely the cutest charcuterie book I’ve read. And I’ve read a lot! I’m a bit of a germaphob on the best of days so big boards for parties, while cute, pose a sanitary threat. This book solves that issue with individual jarcuterie boards. (Spoiler it’s not all jars) I was worried making individual servings would add to the time and it may but the cuteness factor totally makes up for it!!
Also this book would be an awesome dinner party hostess gift! Make a tray of one of the jarcuteries and the book as a gift. I promise your host will adore you and invite you back!
If you like to entertain these ideas are where it's at. I love the individual charcuterie concepts so folks can grab and go rather than picking from the same board. So cute and creative and there ideas for special occasions and holidays.
I really liked the ideas in this book. I loved that it had an idea for each holiday which saves so much time scrolling Pinterest. Very cute! I can't wait to make some jarcuterie!
This book contains the “secret to success” for those of us who love to entertain but are usually at a loss for unique and engaging ideas of how to approach our next event. “Jarcuterie” by Suzanne Billings shows how to take the complicated (yet popular) charcuterie board and transfer it into a jar, a glass, and array of other inventive receptacles. Your guests will be pleased, impressed and delighted.
The Jarcuteries can be thought of as graze cups. They're filled with munchies, packed into a handheld object, and are then portable, leaving folks able to meander about the party. These are quick to assemble making it a breeze for the host or hostess. This book offers so many themes you will never be at a loss for ideas All the holidays are covered plus international themes like Asian, Spanish and Greek, then there’s BBQ, pool parties, grad parties, game day – if you can think it, you can probably find it in this book.
Vessels? Don’t worry. All’s fair in love and Jarcuterie. The author uses everything from canning jars, ice cream cones, and red cups, to martini glasses. There are literally dozens of ideas.
There are tips on the actual presentation. The cutting, slicing and dicing. How to thread the foods on sticks. What are tasty combinations. It’s all here. Let author Suzanne Billings do the hard part. You can now relax and enjoy.
I've been obsessed with charcuteries and this is a great way to add some zing to an existing board. There are also great ideas for grab and go stations instead of a full board people get to pick from.
I never knew all the possibilities for Jarcuterie before this book. To be honest, I didn’t even know that Jarcuterie was a thing before this book. But now that I know, I’m obsessed. It’s perfect for gatherings now a days that everyone is able to have their own snack without contaminating the others. Loved the fun ideas presented in this book and can’t wait to try them out! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC of this beautiful book!
Very pretty presentation and loads of ideas for presenting nibbles with drinks for guests or as part of a party spread. A lot of the ideas would be easy to copy and adapt to a European setting as some of the ingredients would probably be difficult to find, especially if you live outside of a large town.
On the subject of finding things, I'm not sure if everyone would be able to lay their hands on the cute little containers used in the photos either.
An inspiring book but but let down by a lack of alternatives to the brand names.
I love the concept of Jarcuterie! A highly customisable, individual portions of cute and unique snacks/canapes makes this the ideal entertaining design for me, especially in a Covid world. I love that you can handle allergies and dietary requirements easily and it's a quirky easy to present and clean up format. There are so many ideas in the book for different occasions that I can't wait to try them out with some friends!
