His eighth book, Voice From The Grave by Michael Pakenham is the second in the Daniel Appleman series. A man out walking his dog hears an explosion and returns to find his home destroyed but fortunately his family survives. Former police Detective Daniel Appleman is the target of a killer out for revenge. Meantime, authorities become aware of a terrorist plot to bomb synagogues in London and New York as the race is on to stop the carnage. So begins a dual narrative moving between the two cities, as police on both sides of the Atlantic battle a serious terrorist attack. A riveting thriller on the tail of terrorist makes for a most enjoyable read with a three and a half star rating. The ending was all too neat and the Daniel Appleman aspect actually detracted from the more realistic terrorist crime investigation. With thanks to The Book Guild and the author, for an uncorrected advanced reader copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given.

I think this is a very clever, yet chilling detective/crime novel. I thought this book is very action packed, and it held my attention throughout. I couldn’t put this book down, I just wanted the main characters to stay safe and to see how this novel was going to end.
It wasn’t what I expected this book to be, I was surprised and shocked in places but it was an exciting but in places a violent book. It made gritty reading. It’s not for the faint hearted for sure, I gave it 4 stars because I liked the writing style, the grittiness of it but not so much violence.

I liked the idea behind the novel and the execution of that idea was impressive. The writing style was simple and effective and the overall flow of the story felt very smooth. I read this book in one sitting as I really wanted to get to the end to see if I guessed correctly.

First time reading a book by Michael Pakenham and I will be going back to read more.
Kept me hooked from the beginning and well written and kept the book flowing between two countries and kept you turning the pages to see what as happening.
Recommend for any crime thriller readers.
