Description
When their animal spirit awakens, the tribesmen of Feralis must master their creature to arise anew with the power to transform. The tribeswomen can only hope to be lucky enough to be claimed as a lifemate - or face a life reduced to becoming property.
The old Alpha's time is coming to an end, and the Deadly Reckonings are swiftly approaching. The victor of these brutal trials will become the new Alpha and rule over the four allied tribes.
Devlin, a young man with the animal aspect of a lion, dreams of shaping a better world and taking control from the power-hungry clutches of the cruel and dominating Reptilia. Becoming Alpha is the only way Devlin can protect his family, reclaim the woman he loves, and restore freedom to all the tribes of Feralis.
Follow Devlin as he faces the Deadly Reckonings, testing his nature and limits against other competitors, merciless monsters, perilous terrain, and his own desperate hopes.
Can a mortal enemy, a misfit sister, and even fate itself stand in his way?

This author is a gem and if you haven't read her books you are missing out. Very well written with no errors that I could detect. An excellent excellent story. Engaging unique and compelling. I anxiously await the next in the series!
This book was so captivating! I couldn’t put it down. I loved the world that Rebecca and Victoria described. As well as all the characters, no matter how long or short they lived in the story, I appreciate the love of cats in this book as well as other animal transformations. I can’t wait to read Book 2- Breaking Boundaries and dive back into this world.
Fantasy lovers – you won’t be disappointed. This is the first book in the Tribes of Feralis, and if Book 1 is anything to go by, I believe that it will be a captivating series. Rebecca & Victoria Heap created a realistic world that is filled with various tribes of shifters. The world building, the character development, the conflicts between tribes were all so artfully written that I felt that I was there. The many twists and surprises throughout the story made it a page-turner that I couldn’t put down. The ending shocked me, and I can’t wait to go back there when Book 2 – Breaking Boundaries is released to see what happens next in this world.
Thank you NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Rebecca & Victoria Heap for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was super excited to get a copy of this ARC because the description and the premise of the book was really intriguing to me. The idea that the Deadly Reckonings is like a hunger games type of situation where the rules are written in stone and if they are broken all hell breaks loose. This book had me on the edge of my seat because I needed to know what was going to happen next. The book was action packed and the authors do a great job at writing characters who have so much potential and life in them it was like they were coming right off the page the further into the book I got. This book ends on a cliff hanger that has me desperately needing to know what happens next with the characters who are left standing by the end of book one. Cannot wait for more!
I feel like the cover doesn't show the best of this book.
From the cover it looks just like another steamy romance book.
This is definitely one for fantasy fans and fans of hunger games though I feel the story has been done alot already I really enjoyed the authors take on it.
What a beautifully written book! The descriptions and the language in general was a delight to read. I enjoyed the world building which never felt too overwhelming, but gave us enough information to not be confused as to the characters and the lives they lived.
Nicely paced, with a flashback section to help us understand the MCs history as well. I do wonder if this is going to focus on the side character I think it will for the remainder of the trilogy. From the initial chapter I had thought that we would hear more about that character rather than the one we followed in this book, which kept me guessing.
I'll definitely have to check out the rest of the trilogy as they become available!
Thanks to Odyssey Books and Net Galley for this ARC. This is my honest, unbiased review.
o0o0o thissss...
this was a suprise for me and i really enjoyed it read it one long sitting its quite eyecatching.
The concept of the story is there are clans of specific types of shifters such as reptiles and birds and they compete every 25 years in the reckoning trial and the winner becomes Alpha. It was story of fates mates, shifters, suspense, eye candy, heartbreak, love, loss and it was create.
also.. that ending.. NO FREAKING WAY WHATTT
nooooooooo
So this book gave me kinda Hunger Games vibes with Devlin taking part in the deadly reckonings a competition finishing with a fight to the death for a chance to be the next Alpha. I enjoyed the book and the likes the characters but OMG that ending it was a massive twist I didn't expect and I can't wait for book 2 especially as it seems we'll get to see more of Kyra
With books with covers like this I love jumping in blind because it’s almost always not what i expect. This is no different. The drama kicks off right from the very first chapter and that was enough to have me turning the page!
The Deadly Reckonings was enjoyable, well paced and unique this makes way for an easy immersion into the world and to get lost in the story.
Generally I enjoy shifter books, this one was no different. I enjoyed learning about the different tribes and the animals they connect to.
I’m excited to see how the series progresses
