I was surprised to find that I hadn’t read this author before and i will definitely be resolving that after reading this book. Set in South Australia this was a good read well written with a good plot line. A stand-alone book and a political conspiracy thriller with a rather unexpected sleuth.
Briefly, Laura and her husband Tom are attending a music festival with their friends Peter and his wife Abbie when Tom dies, apparently of a heart attack. Later that night Laura discovers that their house has been broken into and files and a laptop have been stolen from Toms office. Why would anyone want his notes? Was his death an accident or was it murder? Why was Tom researching his previous employers operations? Law decides to take matters into their own hands and discovers a deadly conspiracy but who can she trust.
A clever mystery thriller with some fairly conspicuous clues but also some not so obvious, keeping you guessing until the shocking end. Nobody is quite who they seem to be! An easy enjoyable read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A really intriguing read by a fabulous author! I loved that the main character in this book was a strong ‘mature’ lady who wanted to seek the truth
Well written with excellent descriptive scenes which really put you in the book

Lethal Legacy by H.R. Kemp is a clever mystery that had me hooked at the beginning and didn’t let me stop thinking about it until I finished. And now I’m still thinking about the story! Honestly, the beautiful cover is the reason I picked this book up, but I’m happy to say the story between the pages was just as wonderful!
This is a bit of a slow burn. There are points in which the story picks up the pace, but for the most part, it creeps at a slow pace with an atmosphere that keeps the reader drawn in. I liked this. It doesn’t always need to be action filled, it just needs to hold your attention and Lethal Legacy does just that.
I really like H.R. Kemp’s writing. It’s descriptive and I was able to feel like I was part of the story. I loved the characters, too. A very character driven, descriptive story. I look forward to more from this author and recommend checking it out!

H.R Kemp is an author who I have only come across once, in a collection of stories for a charity. I enjoyed everything from that and was eager to read this full length political conspiracy thriller. I did wonder just how much I would enjoy it but I needn't have worried at all.
A standalone book, with a unique plot and a sleuth not easily forgot. Laura and Tom, her husband attend a music festival with friends. Tom dies there and when Laura returns home, she finds the house has been robbed and Tom's office turned upside down. His laptop and some files are missing. Laura has no idea why his stuff has been taken. She begins to doubt whether Tom died of natural causes. Tom was researching his previous employers operations, but why? Laura decides to start digging and discovers a deadly conspiracy, but who can she trust?
Set in South Australia this was a skilfully written mystery. I always tend to enjoy a conspiracy and with Lethal Legacy I found myself second guessing everything. The pace of the story wasn't overly fast and in some places a little slow, but it didn't stop my enjoyment.
H.R.Kemp does a great job of drip feeding information along the way, right until the conclusion that I could never have guessed! An intriguing, believable read with characters that are relatable and well developed. I was behind Laura from the minute her husband died and really felt for her as she tried to unravel the mystery she finds herself facing.
A thriller I enjoyed enough to make me want to read the other book H.R.Kemp has written. (less)

4.0 out of 5 stars An unusual premise & lead investigator

Another fab read from this author. A standalone political thriller with an unusual premise & lead investigator.
Laura & her husband Tom attend a music festival with their friends Peter & Abbie. Tom dies at the festival & when Laura eventually returns home, she discovers that their home has been burgled & Tom’s office ransacked. Why? She unearths a few clues & knows that Tom was investigating his previous employers. Who can she trust in order to continue his work?
Quite slow in places but cleverly written with snippets of information drip fed in to the plot until an exciting & explosive climax is reached. It certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. Recommended.

Such a thrilling read , brilliantly written. It had everything. Sudden death, espionage and intrigue and a woman determined to do everything in her power to find the truth and more importantly, to protect her family. She quickly realises she can trust no one. Riveting, believable and a great read.

A political thriller about a woman’s journey to discover and uncover her husband’s secrets. Laura’s husband dies and she discovers that he was hiding secrets that pertains to his job. He never included her in his work life and she finds that he had his reasons. An engaging story, with drama, suspense and a great lead character.

One of the better thrillers set in Australia, with strong characters and a descriptive writing style which really draws the reader in. Plenty to keep you focused as the plot evolves, with some clues less obvious than others and a clever way of revealing who is reliable and who is not.
I am not sure how I feel about this book. It is certainly a timely ripped from the headlines story. The conspiracy theories abound now days. Laura has lost her husband and he was chasing a conspiracy trails. She was unaware until she stumbles upon his proof. Family and friends suddenly are not the safe relationships she treasured. Why does everyone want Tom's papers? The ending is exciting and full of action.
This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the copy. I was drawn to this book by the front cover and it didn't disappont. It is well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters that I loved.
The storyline was engaging and really pulls you in, with the suspense level increasing as the story progresses.
