Description

The Fireflies' Champion kicks off a brand new classic fantasy series for fans of Percy Jackson, Fallen, and The Forbidden Library series.

What if I told you there is more to life than meets the eye and that some things in this universe are unbelievable?

That heroes are dead, the afterlife is real, and that all the ones you’ve lost are still out there, watching over you?

Oh, and gods like Zeus, Hermes, Aphrodite? Those are real too.

And that every moment leads you further to your destiny. But not for me, of course. I was never supposed to die, and now I must spend the rest of my days with a target on my back. A ghost, living in a city of angels. And the boy that failed to save me the first time vows to save me again and again in the afterlife, for all of eternity.

Yet still, some higher power believes I’m a hero, too. Capable of saving both humans and angels.

THE FIREFLIES' CHAMPION is the first book in the Guardian Angels United series.

Caroline Rose is a ghost. She couldn’t walk into the light of the heavens, or save her life on earth. Stuck in limbo, she lands in the city of angels, and is reunited briefly with lost loved ones until angels begin mysteriously disappearing.

Dash Underwood is part of an elite group of angels known as the Guardian Angels United, with a perfect save record… until he is assigned to save Caroline Rose. With his value in question and a high chance of being voted out of the city, he is given one of the largest assignments of his career.

As the two meet in the city of angels, mysteries lay in their palms. Among griffins, magic fireflies, miracles, and letters and messages that reach you from the graveyard, they must work together if they want any chance of succeeding.

Will Caroline fulfill her destiny? Or will she remain an imposter among magic-welding beasts?

Advance Praise

"I just finished reading this and what a beautiful world this author has created. I started by reading this to my 7 year old daughter as our bed time book, reading a chapter every night but after the third night I had to keep reading without her haha! I can not wait to read the rest of the series and find out what happens to Caroline and Dash."

"This book follows Caroline who just recently died and became a ghost in the City of Angels where she finds her father and then he promptly disappears suddenly. Caroline wants to find him, but then she’s recruited to become a GAU(Guardian Angels United) and decides maybe this will help her find her dad. Meanwhile, it is found out that an Angel was the reason or cause of Caroline’s death and Dash(a GAU) is sent on a mission to find out who.

This to me was a feel good book. It had its darker moments, but Caroline was just very happy and positive throughout the whole book despite nothing seeming to go her way and with her dad missing. All she’s trying to do is fit in, and yet that’s difficult when you don’t have wings and are a ghost. I don’t think Caroline grew at all in this book, in fact, I have never read a book with a character as naive as Caroline. I would have thought by the end of the book she would have learned from her mistakes and just from everything really, but she really didn’t. Despite that shortcoming, she was funny, cute and endearing and made the book very lighthearted."

"I received an ARC version of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.

Wow, this was a creative story! A combo of afterlife guardians, a mystery, a soul finding journey and a character discovering their purpose. With some creative interpretations of mythology to boot!

I really enjoy the view point of our main character. She handles all this new information fairly realistically yet isn’t afraid to push on to her more answers. She has her set backs and deals with it like one would expect a lost teen to do!"

"This story struck an emotional chord, and I could relate Caroline at certain points in the story. With every chapter, I was eager to find out more. There were some aspects of the world, which I found delightful. My favorite is the socks. The City of Angels was a fun world to explore, and I’d love to hear more. After reading the story, and discovering what inspired the author to write the story warmed my heart. It’s a fun way to remember a beloved pet. It never felt like the story was dragging, and there was always something happening. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Caroline, and her journey in accepting her death. Highly recommend!

I really enjoy the atmosphere and world. It’s a unique view on the afterlife, angels and magic, with a lovely dusting of familiar mythology for good measure. It could be a bit slow sometimes but those moments pass quickly. It’s well worth the wait for the good stuff!"

"Got an early copy of the book and couldn't put it down. The story is filled with humor despite having some dark aspect to it - perfectly balanced. Love how Caroline deals with her death and the surprising after life that follows. Charlie is such an awesome dog!

A very thoughtful story, can't wait to see how the series unfolds."

"Amy Mirashi creates a fabulous world in this story. We are taken straight into this world and explore/learn about it along with the main character, Caroline.

On her unexpected death, she finds herself in the City of Angels where she is more of a ghost angel. She makes friends who help and guide her in her new 'life' and together they try to work out why she died (why the angel sent to save her couldn't) and what is going on in the City. Why are the Guardian Angels disappearing, including Caroline's dad, and what can she do to help?

A great read and I look forward to more in this series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."
