Description
FIRST KISS is Book 1 in the Kit & Tully Series
Love or Music… Which should they choose and what price do they have to pay?
Love will give Kit and Tully a future together, but music can make Tully's dream come true.
When new guy, Tully, falls for sixteen-year-old Kit, he needs to find a way to win her over. Because, right now, she only has eyes for scorching hot lead-singer, Mac Whitehead, who's turning every head in town.
Neither believe a half-forgotten legend is true, but once a sleeping Celtic god awakes, it's too late to turn back, too late to refuse his offer…
Love or Music… Which will it be?
Breakfast Club vibes, 1990s Ireland, Normal People banter!

What Early Readers Say...
SLHaynes - Breakfast Club vibes!
MidnightRose5 - I was really impressed by the authority with which you told a story about Ireland in the 1990s. You have so many details and little nuances that make me feel like I am actually there and it makes your world feel so real.
JaxonBlacc - Also, this story gives me a lot of Derry Girls vibes.
LunarAquarius - Ah, the 90s...the golden age of VHS, tape recorders, and good cartoons. I'm getting gothic vibes from this group, and I love it!
curiousgeo - Whoah... clout at the the VIDEO store. This was hot stuff in the 80s and 90s. This is fun for me because it's very much my era. I even had a boyfriend who worked in a video store in... 1995 I think. Many many hours spent hanging around there while he was working.
guywortheyauthor - You're nailing the time period, the dialog feels natural, and the characters are coming across…. and now I want a prehistoric graveyard as a special place.
Anon - You’ve suckered me in with the 90s setting. I’m getting all nostalgic for Blockbuster video
MarCafeWrites - I absolutely love that this takes place about 20 years ago. Such an underrated time. Technology wasn't so suffocating then, so we had more freedom, even though we didn't know it at the time. (I also worked at a movie rental place years ago, so I love that idea!)
theinkslingerr - Why am I picturing “Normal People” banter?
Anon - When you’re American and you giggle in delight over terms like skiving off because you can just hear that accent in your head!

This book has such variety in such a short novel and such an interesting plan for the trilogy. As characters unfold in each book they will expand and continue the previous stories creating a cliffhanger ending to three possibilities that will unfold in the next book. This story has pining love, rockstar life, class differentials and poverty struggles as well as ancient Celtic folklore to give it an unseen twist. It’s a short book with variety of you need something to binge in a day.
I received a free advanced review copy and am offering my honest review voluntarily
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it was amazing I absolutely fell in love with Kit and Tully. The spice is sooo damn delish. The angst is top notch. Will continue to follow this series.
this short novel was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot despite it being incredibly short! Tully is a really good character and I liked that this novel was from his POV - it’s not often that books are in a male MC POV!
The chapters were the perfect length and kept me interested and I read it pretty quickly!
The only slight con, was that it was very fast - I would have preferred the book to be slightly longer and the plot lengthened out. Yet, I really liked the fact that it was set in 1990 and embedded with Irish culture too :) I would like to continue this short novel series and find out what happens to Kit and Tully!
Thank you Netgalley for this book in exchange for an honest review
I liked this book. It was cute. It kept me coming back to find out what was gonna happen in Tully’s life. At first I was thinking I’d like to get other character viewpoints but I hear that in the next book, we get to hear Kits side of things! Can’t wait to hear what’s she’s thinking and hear more of their story. A good quick read!
this book was a really quick read and I finished it in no time
it was really entertaining to read and I loved the characters and romance and the setting
I liked how it was fast paced
i'd recommend this to any fan of young adult fantasy
This was an easy, quick read. I enjoyed this one but I don’t think I would read anymore in this series as it wasn’t exactly the genre I like. With that said, it was a good book. The banter between the characters kept me interested. I liked how it was from the male POV. Overall, it was a cute for a YA romance.
Thank you for allowing me access to this arc. I think this was an amazing introduction to the series of short books. I liked that the story was told from the males pov usually books are only told from the females pov. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series when they come out.
This was a short but fun read set in beautiful Ireland. A cute little romance with Celtic gods, music and choices. I really like our main character Tully a lot and want to see the best for him. I like the little friend group he makes too, though I didn't love every character right away they grew on me for their own little quirks. The weird part about this book for me was that it does not tell you about the time period but you get hints from the story. In the beginning it felt weird but then I realized this is not set in today times but probably closer to the 90s or so😂. I can't wait to see were this story goes in the next books and will be keeping an eye out for them.
I started this book with zero expectations, and ended up loving it. Tully is so sweet that you want to hug him when he has so many insecurities about Kit and about himself. It's a young adult's book about chasing dreams. It is not a book with much depth or many details about the individual life of each character, but if it is a perfect introduction to welcome the characters, I don't know if what I say makes sense hahaha. It's basically an introductory story, short, entertaining, very interesting and sweetly pretty [with Tully in the equation, of course]. It is not without certain clichés typical of this type of story, but it is really worth it. I'm looking forward to reading the second book.
This was a cute love story from music to a wonderful setting to loveable characters. It was fun seeing how music impacted this book. Thus book was approved by netgalley and the publisher for me to read and review n
I was really interested in this book as it was a male POV, versus female in the YA world and also learning that these are meant to be shorter books. I think that could definitely be a positive for some readers. For myself, I wish it was longer as I wanted there to be a bit more character and world building and a bit more of an arc, but that being said I enjoyed it and learning a bit about Tully.
This book is so throwback to my teens! And that helped me sink into the story. I loved it being from the males perspective! I can't wait to read what happens next.
I just reviewed First Kiss by Mocha VonBee. #FirstKiss #NetGalley

The only fact that has caught my eye is that this book sets in the 1990s. I wasn't a 90s kid but I always curious how it feels to live in an old or ancient era. So I'm so glad to have the opportunity to read this book, thanks to the author and netgalley for this free copy.
This book was easy to get along, it didn't take me forever to understand the storyline. I believe that in 1990s the world was calm without this modern technology and I'm so glad I got this feeling while diving into this book 🙈. Only.. the main character is a guy which I feel he's just too naive, but it didn't change my mind about liking this book. There will be the sequel to this one and I'm just so excited to meet Tully and Kit in the next book!
Tully is new in Drimshanra and starts working at More Video 4U where he meets Kit. He's intrigued by Kit and gets closer to her after he helps Kit's friend Spike. Tully starts spending more time with Kit, Spike and Felice. As this happens he starts to associate with up and coming band Black Death and eventually becomes their guitarist. The Celtic god mystery is interesting along with his potentially budding romance with Kit.
Cute read about a boy that moves to a new city, tries to find a job, make friends and follow a dream he has. He falls for a girl that just doesn’t see him yet, follow his story on where his relationship with kit happens
Love or Music. Irish Folk-tale. Teens in 90s!.
What a way to start the series. The teens in 90s small-town vibe is so strong. Without revealing much, the characters are so interesting to get to know better. The Aonghus myth/folktale surrounding the town and the story is intriguing as we only see the glimpse of it. Totally give me the goosebumps and chills vibe when I read it. Excited to see the story from Kit's perspective and how the rest of the stories would unfold.
Love or Music…Be or not to be, This is this question…
Should you choose if the price is too high?
Setting of this book cannot let you go…Small town romance, First love, Ireland, and the 1990s! Isn't it the perfect combination? And this dark blue cover… omg. First Kiss is the perfect intro for a short romance book series. This book was written by Tully pov! This story has a good length that will keep you interested during reading and will not start to be boring. This fact that we have a 1990s timeline is something amazing. I can't wait to read Kits pov. But I have mixed emotions about this book as I always have after northern Europe settings because I am absolutely in love with this setting. Overall, a little cute romance story will bring you to a wonderful Ireland with Celtic gods, important choices and love with music.
When Tully meets Kit, he instantly falls in love with her. However it isn't love at first sight for her as she is head over heels in love with Mac. I love when a story makes me fall in love with the characters and their story. This one did not disappoint.
I loved the plot and the premise of the book, it did not disappoint at all. I cannot wait to read what happens next. I will recommend this story to others.
Cute, spicy, intriguing and a great time! Great book to spend your time with and interesting plot. The cover is also stunning!
This story played out in my head like a sweet indie flick as I was reading it. It’s written from the perspective of Tully, whom is an introverted and likeable character. He is new to town and meets some eclectic personalities, including a love interest, Kit, but it looks like she might keep him in the friend-zone. I was expecting a story that was geared toward young people and found that it’s likely to be enjoyed by all ages.
"First Kiss (Kit and Tully, #1" is a mysterious, fun, and interesting read by Mocha VonBee. I really liked the 1990s small town Irish setting. Getting to know the characters was so much fun! The author has done great work creating characters that feel three dimensional and like real people all within a story that is under 200 pages. It was interesting to see how the characters interact with each other and their families and to see the difficulties and challenges they are all dealing with. Tully's video store workplace was fun to read about! It was very nice to see how much Tully cares about his mother and how he is such a hardworking and kind person. Although Kit seems at times to be aloof and a bit frosty towards Tully we get to know her better throughout the book and see that she is a likeable character. It was great to see the close friendship between Kit, Felice, and Spike and to see Tully becoming a part of their friend group. I liked the speed of the plot and the author's writing style. This is a story about friendship, love, conflict, music, and Celtic mythology. I highly recommend reading this book! I have signed up for the author's newsletter and am enjoying reading "First Summer" which is Kit's version of the story. I am really looking forward to the upcoming books in this series. Thank you very much to the author Mocha VonBee, the publisher Indie Ink, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy to read and review honestly.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I this book is super short (I finished it in one day) and it's a cute story. I loved the video store nostalgia and how the characters interacted with each other. When Tully meets Kit it's love at first sight, but she's into someone else. As the story unfolds you can't help but fall for these characters and their story. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a short romance. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.
First Kiss by Mocha Von Bee is the first book in the Kit and Tully series. It follows Tully around his new town where he gets a job in a video shop before quickly making new friends with three of the local teenagers. Their friendship gets increasingly strong, particularly with Kit as they listen to their favourite band live. After spending lots of time over the summer together, Tully manages to persuade Kit's parents to let her go to a concert where she makes Tully do something he likely would not have previously done and where they share their first kiss.
This book marks a great start to this romance series and I found it a very gripping book, I very much look forward to reading the second book in the series. It is also good to see a new romance book which is set in the 1990s in Ireland. This for a modern-day teenage audience is a real eye-opener on what life was like without mobile phones and this is one theme I picked up throughout the book. This book teaches there are positives to having mobile phones such as being able to let your parents know where you are and contact your friends but also negatives as it stops you from being able to spend time with your friends in person. This book shows what friendships were like before the modern day of technology which is really good to present to a modern-day young adult audience.
I cannot say there was anything about this book which I did not like. I very much look forward to continuing to follow Kit and Tully's adventures and I only hope their relationship will get deeper.
Altogether, I rate this book 4 stars as this is a good book for teenagers set in a time before technology but still a time full of fun, excitement and adventures. The romance elements of this book are nicely balanced out by following a group of teenage friends on a number of exciting adventures and I would definitely recommend this book. I would like to thank Net Galley and Indie Ink for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book in return for an honest book review.
This was a quick read and fast paced. I really enjoyed the 90's vibe in this book. Mocha did a great job for her debut novel. I can't wait to read the second book in this series, It's always nice when you can find fast paced , short story books.
Thanks NetGalley and Indie Ink for allowing me to read this ARC in advance.
Do you remember your first kiss? No? Well, you will remember this book when you are finished with it! I highly recommend reading this.
