My youngest is a huge LEGO fan.
I knew about the LEGO replay program, but nothing about all these other programs or uses. It's amazing just how much these toys can do to help others in addition to being fun or sparking creativity.
I know it's likely a marketing ploy, but it does make me feel good about buying LEGO sets for my kids and I hope it inspires those who love LEGO to imagine even bigger possibilities.
It is truly amazing to me how cool Lego is. I think it's incredible that something can be used for so many useful and important things!
LEGO Heroes covers the stories of twelve innovators who used LEGO to bring change to the world around them. Each chapter covers a different inspirational story. The book shows the unique ways in which LEGO has been used to solve a variety of everyday problems. It also gives examples of ways that LEGO has been used to improve the lives of some people with disabilities.
I had previously heard of a couple of the stories but a majority of the book was new subject matter for me. The content of LEGO Heroes is suitable for all ages. It would make a great addition to any school library or homeschool curriculum. Some of the sections are a little lengthier than others but the book is still packed with interesting information.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books!
This book is my 4th book of this year (2023). I came across it and thought to myself, “This could truly be an amazing book to read”, as I grew up “playing” with Legos AND I have a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering. Reading stories of how the world is impacted by creative ways of using Legos is definitely an enticing theme for a book. This book did deliver on that.
However, I am a bit unsure of the audience for this book. Children can read it, but the language in the book and the topics covered are more applicable to adults. In other words, the language is kind of too sophisticated for a child to understand. I was thinking that maybe there could be a companion book that is geared more towards children so that children and their parents can discuss the stories.
Overall, I was very interested in the stories and was inspired to think of other ideas for how to use Legos. I definitely appreciated this book and each of the stories within its pages. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books (publisher) for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you chronicle books and Netgalley for an ARC of LEGO Heroes by LEGO Builders changing our world- one brick at a time.
I was a huge Lego fan as a kid and now my kids are too! My son and I read this together and it was so enlightening and informative. We had no idea LEGO was used for so many other things besides play. We really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all Lego lovers out there.
This was a heartwarming informational read about all the good LEGO is doing for the world! As an avid LEGO fan, after reading this book I was more grateful and in awe of everything a few plastic bricks can do. I thought the photos really added to the synopsis’s of each featured LEGO project and helped bring the projects to life. The twelve features were all so engaging, I would have loved if there were even more. It would be cool if there ends up being a second edition of this book, I very much enjoyed it. Highly recommend it for any LEGO enthusiast!
An eclectic but interesting set of articles showing how LEGO is being used in creative ways to help people, communities, and animals. Although the tone was a bit too self-satisfied, the stories are inspiring.
This book was good. I think if you are a huge Lego fan you would really enjoy it. It is inspiring to see all the Lego use cases and this book would be a good gift for a Lego-lover.
4 stars for an insightful and creative look at how LEGO helps communities!
This book is chock full of fun and inventive efforts and projects that have been done by communities and individuals that foster creativity and innovation. It was interesting to read about some of the cool projects LEGO has "built" - one of my favorites are the LEGO wheelchair ramps, neat!
Thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for providing a digital ARC for review!
I love how ideas can be made for real necessities using LEGO. I didn't realize how many of these items existed. I think kids would enjoy this book and seeing how they too could make a difference in the world,
Open up your child's mind while increasing their building skills. Legos are one "toy" that bridges so many ages and generations that you'd be hard pressed to find a home or gathering place that does not contain a huge bin of these bricks and people. This book contains so many patterns on "next step" building projects that it will take your family many weekends to complete them all. This book is a wonderful gift for any child, of any age, for any event. It is alos a great way for parents to connect with their children while building. Build some memories while building that project.
Lego Heroes by Lego Builders Changing Our World - One Brick at a Time is a book about building things and changing communities. One of my favorite things they made was ramps for wheel chairs.
