Description
“Don’t watch your life flash before your eyes, for you have secrets and gold lost inside...”
To author Claire Ellis, poetry is everything: a lifelong passion, the voice inside her head, all her secrets and gold put to paper. This collection of poems paints a picture of her life, the highs and lows of which are sure to mirror the ebbs and flows of your own. It’s a book you can pick up time and time again, where you’ll always find a voice of reassurance – and encouragement to uncover your own secrets and gold.
Marketing Plan
A poetry collection that was healing for the author to write and will resonate with readers on the same journey of love, loss, survival and happiness.
Poetry is proven to have these healing effects:
- Iranian students who read poetry together reported that their stress, anxiety and depression levels decreased (The Guardian)
Claire’s poetry is timeless – themes will remain important to readers, meaning they can revisit the book time and time again.

Featured Reviews
Poetry has the power to heal, and Claire Ellis harnesses that power in Secrets and Gold. Filled with short poems about real life and the struggles therein, I felt moved and comforted by Claire Ellis’s writing. She talks about the things we all experience but maybe don’t talk about- feeling like we’re not good enough, being stuck inside your head, guilt, regrets, loneliness, and learning how to have self-compassion through it all. The drawings throughout are a beautiful and uplifting addition. I can’t express enough how much I loved this collection!
