Revenge keeps this mystery alive. Murder and mayhem keep it moving quickly. Red herrings kept me guessing. The characters are realistic, and the story believable. Although fiction, the book reads like nonfiction…true life. This talented author has written a cannot put down novel. It would make a good movie. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the author and the publisher.
Excellent story. Lots of action and twists and turns. Well worth reading

After reading a couple of Sarah’s other books I was delighted to be approved for this one.
Meg is living under an assumed name, in a borrowed cottage at the end of a cliff. With no family or friends, she is all alone. And hiding. Hiding from the past. But not just one big secret, but two….after a year of hiding out, Meg can almost believe that she is safe. That is, until the lights go out and it’s blackout.
This book got my heart racing at times, as well as making me feel sorry for Meg and what her life has been like, even after finding out about the choices she has made.
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good thrilling read.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.

A brilliantly written twisty thriller with great characters and a great plot. I read it so quickly that I was disappointed with myself for doing that!
A good dark and twisty thriller that had me guessing throughout. You know way at the start something terrible has happened. But what? Full of long standing dark secrets. Absolutely brilliant xx
Another fast paced thriller from Sarah Goodwin that had me ignoring all of my adult responsibilities for the day! I was so interested in where the author was going to take this story and it was definitely a page turner. I was a little confused by the ending which I feel the author could tweak a little to make it even better. The descriptions of the cliff side ocean house made me feel like I was there as things happened. I’m afraid of heights and I literally had sweaty palms (LOL) Overall a fantastic thriller that I would definitely recommend.
Another brilliant read from Sarah Goodwin. She knows exactly how to draw you into a story and keeps you gripped until the very end.
Solid edge of your seat thriller, perfect escapism and highly enjoyable!! Definitely looking forward to more from this author.
This was a fast read that kept me turning the pages. Plenty of tension held my interest throughout.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
The book starts out with friends Meg and Cat getting together to have a girl's night out. They have a few drinks and it's obvious Meg wants to forget the anniversary of her brothers death. The girls bus to a nightclub & have too much to drink. Along the way, Meg loses her purse, with her credit cards, id and money. With no funds to bus back home, the girls are forced to walk back. Along the way, they are followed by a couple of men, with obvious bad intentions. Thus begins a nightmare of a saga that flashes backward in time, and ahead one year that follows Meg on a struggle for survival and ultimately a quest for revenge.
To be honest, I was confused for the first few chapters, but once I grasped the time switches, I flew through this book in no time. This is a great book for anyone who loves a good thriller, with many twists and a protagonist that is human, and deeply flawed, with both good and bad characteristics.
The ending was a little confusing, and I felt a little left in the air.
Told over three timelines, something horrific happens in each time frame. The farthest sees her do something that sets off a chain of events that lead to the present situation. She's forced to flee and start again under the radar, but her past eventually catches up with her.
This is such a good read and difficult to review without spoilers. I enjoyed being drip fed information and watching it play out. I found this very entertaining with a satisfying ending.
An edge of your seat thriller. When Meg and Cat are forced to take a dangerous shortcut home one night, they notice two men silently following them. Suddenly running for their lives, they scramble into an abandoned building to hide and wait for help. What follows is an explosive story. I couldn’t put this one down.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book and give a honest review.
Meg is in hiding in a cottage that is crumbling toward the sea at the same rate meg is crumbling under the pressure of her actions.
Her and her friend are followed and attacked one night- with a devastating outcome and from that point Meg struggles with her mental health, with her personal safety and with keeping her secrets.
hard to review without giving away some of the many twists all I can say is read it!
I need to read more book from this author. This book was a wild rollercoaster of a read. It held me from the first page and I just held on till the end. I loved it !
WOW! If you are looking for a book that will grip you from the start and leave you breathless this is for you.
A fun night out takes a tragic turn for Meg and Cat when they find themselves having to walk home. Traumatised, Meg runs away to an abandoned cottage teetering on a cliff edge. One year later, just as Meg is beginning to think she may have a future, she discovers you can't always escape the past. As a violent storm rages and the power is cut off Meg will have to rely on her instincts if she is going to survive until daylight.
Once I started this I didn't want to put it down. I was totally immersed in the story and needed to find out what happened. So many twists that I wasn't expecting. Just brilliant.
Sit down just a second and let me tell you about this book! loved it so stinking much!! It was so good! Great job Sarah Goodwin on this work of art!!

If you want to read something that's thrilling and keeps you on the edge of your seat this is the book for you. I found myself waking up in the middle of the night to read. Meg and Cat are best friends that are out on the town. However, the night ends horribly with one girl running for her life and looking over her shoulder.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC The Blackout by Sarah Goodwin.
This super-exciting read is as suspenseful as it gets. Meg is hiding in a dilapidated cabin in the middle of nowhere, but she’s still actively trying to avoid… something. What that is, is unclear, but it may have to do with the night that she and her friend got chased by two guys in a dodgy neighborhood after a night of partying. We also know that she’s responsible for two deaths, including her friend. The plot explains why, as she is running for her life. This part is exceedingly suspenseful, because it happens in the middle of a storm, during a blackout. Meg thought that she was John McClane and soon it’s clear that she isn’t. She has to use her wits to outsmart whatever is happening. I liked Meg a lot. She is not super-human and has doubts, but she’s also trying hard to fight for her life. She knows her limitations and doesn’t dwell on them excessively, but tries to overcome them. I enjoyed the twists although I must say that I didn’t understand the ending. A good novel.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, #NetGalley/#Avon Books UK, Avon!
