Description

It’s a book of organized mayhem, as if Hill Street Blues, Caddy Shack, Choir Boys, and Animal House had all blended together...

Murders, suicides, unattended deaths – Detective Patrick “Mac” MacKenna finally gets his transfer to Major Crimes. Sprinkle in the armed robberies, stabbings, and shootings; and the men and women in the Criminal Investigations Division have their hands full every day in the urban metropolis. The scent of burnt coffee lingers in the air of Major Crimes, where a diverse collection of detectives works together to solve the toughest crimes.

Mac is still a single father to his three children, constantly working eighty-hour weeks, when he decides he needs to change it up for the betterment of his family. He manages to reduce his overtime hours, complete his associate’s degree, and begin undergraduate studies - despite the metal handcuffs clinking against his belt every day from arresting criminals.

And if this wasn’t enough, he gets cold called by a Navy recruiter and ends up working naval intelligence just before 9/11 hits!

Academic, scholar, – and most important, practitioner – Murphy has written the most fast-paced novel in The Thin Blue Line Series yet!

The police stories are factual, the only alteration being the names of the guilty to preserve their anonymity.

Anyone who likes law enforcement novels will like this book. It's an easy read, with lifelike characters from a small town. Character development was well done, the small-town incident vignettes were realistic, and the main character was a believable, likeable cop, who's flaws were overshadowed by his tenacity to serve and to succeed. I look forward to the next story about Mac's early years with the Syracuse Police Department. Well done, Dennis Murphy.

This is the second installment in the Thin Blue Line series of novels written by Dennis Murphy. In this book Mac transfers from the suburb of Camillus to the city of Syracuse. Like the first novel, this is a very interesting and entertaining look at policing written by a veteran law enforcement officer. I highly recommend it, and I look forward to continuing following Mac's career.

A thriller of a read, action all the way and a difficult book to stop reading once you've started. It probably covers a little too much ground in that so much happens in a frenetic sequence of events, but this isn't a philosophical study. A blast. If you like crime novels you'll love this.
