I absolutely adored Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day! From the moment I flipped through its pages, I was hooked. The photos were simply stunning, making every recipe feel like a work of art. And the recipes themselves? Pure magic! The fun and charming vibe of the book made it a joy to explore, and the added bonus of sidebars extra info was just the icing on the cake. If you're looking for a cookbook that's both delightful and practical, this is the one for you! This is a culinary adventure you won't want to miss.
It’s a well rounded collection of recipes, because it includes sweet and savory; Zingerman’s Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day has recipes for cookies, bread, cakes, potpies, stews… there are some I am looking forward to try, others I’ll have to tweak a bit because I am allergic to some ingredients, but I don’t think it will be a great change in the final product.
It has a section for resources, techniques, equipment and ingredients, it has background for the recipes and offers insight in traditions from around the world. It’s a good, good book and I really enjoyed it.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me a copy to review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of “Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day
A Year's Worth of Favorite Recipes for Festive Occasions, Big and Small” by Amy Emberling, Lindsay-Jean Hard, Lee Vedder, and Corynn Coscia. All opinions are my own.
This is a great cookbook that has a range of recipes from desserts and breads to salads and sandwiches. I found multiple I was interested in creating myself.
The photos are beautiful and I love that they were included.
Additionally the way the recipes were organized by season and special days to celebrate was wonderful. Absolutely love.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day.
This is a beautiful cookbook with an organized layout and stunning photos.
I love how the recipes were organized by season and an information sidebar about the origins of a particular celebration and holiday was provided, which added helpful context for the recipe being featured on the same page.
I wasn't familiar with Zingerman's Bakehouse but the cover photo caught my eye and I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this incredible business and the gorgeous breads and desserts they provide for their loved ones and community.
I like to think of myself as a proficient baker, but the truth is I am an amateur with a wicker sweet tooth and a knack for following recipes. Whether a professional or a beginner, this book has something for you.
This visually appealing cookbook contains an explosion of color and inventive ideas with recipes that are simple to follow.
There is nothing worse than making a recipe and feeling like the author intentionally left out an ingredient. Here that is NOT the case. And while I can’t say that my creations looked as beautiful as Zingerman’s, I have to believe they tasted nearly as good because WOW, I can’t imagine anything tasting better!
Some of my favorite recipes included:
- Key Lime Pie (I thought my aunt Kate’s recipe was the best but nope I was wrong)
- Rustic Italian Baguettes
- Cheddar Herb Scones
- Summer Fling Coconut and Lime Coffee Cake
I can’t wait to try all of these AMAZING recipes
Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day is a real treat of recipes and eye-watering desserts for every celebration! I had the delightful experience of visiting their bakehouse in person before covid hit. They have the best desserts in the state of Michigan.
This is a wonderful collection of recipes that cover all seasons and celebrations, along with mouthwatering pictures. Their carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are my favorite
I would recommend visiting their bakehouse if you're ever in the area, but these recipes are a close second!
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!
This cookbook has a bit of everything – cookies, brownies, cakes, pastries, pizzas, sweet and savory pies, soups, and stews. There will definitely be some recipes I will go back to again and again like the Black and White Magic Brownies, the Michigan Double Chocolate Cookies or the Cheddar Herb Scones.
The book is filled with 100 gorgeous photographs which are always what I look at first – they draw you in so you want to make the recipes. I loved this cookbook with the exception of the way the recipes were laid out - by various life events, seasons and holidays. This is just my preference and they have an alphabetical index in the back that easily shows where to find each recipe.
Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice this is a wonderful cookbook to add to your collection. They have bonus of sidebars with extra information and all ingredients are easy to find.
I want to thank NetGalley, Amy Emberling, Lindsay-Jean Hard, Lee Vedder, and Corynn Coscia and Chronicle Books for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.
There are so many delectable recipes in this book, I don't know where to begin. I will say that I very much want a hard copy of this book because it's too beautiful to view on my device.
The recipes are written well and easy to follow. The photos make me want to pull ingredients out of the pantry and start baking.
When my son attended the University of Michigan for graduate school in Ann Arbor, we enjoyed visiting Zingerman’s for sandwiches and treats. I cannot tell you how excited I was to get my hands on this cookbook!!
I love all the pictures and the details recipes. It is a beautiful book and I am excited to try my hand at the banana bread and Key Lime Pie recipes. I will return to this book again and again.
First off, I love the cover of this book. It’s so fun and inviting! The cookbook is separated in to seasons which I thought was a fun way to organize recipes. My only complaint was the lack of organization amongst each season. I saw multiple yummy recipes that I am excited to try. Happy cooking.
I was drooling on my screen! The pictures were enticing, the recipes were easy to follow.. I liked the little side notes and that the book was divided into seasons. Shout out to whoever insisted that Pi Day be included! The resources in the back were very helpful.

Last month I visited my high school best friend and her husband in Michigan for the weekend. While we were in Ann Arbor, they took us to one of their favorite places: Zingerman's. What a glorious ambiance in the store and the sandwich we ate was incredibly yummy. My friend and I are much older now and, after years of cooking and baking, we know what we like and have raised and fed our families on much good food. This Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day cookbook will be one of a very few that is worthy of being added to our established cooking repertoire. I plan on trying every recipe in the book -- they ALL look delicious! For an experienced, older cook to be this excited about a new cookbook says a lot! The store, the food, the people -- all wonderful. The recipes included are actual recipes a family would love to make every single day a special occasion. The book layout, pictures and graphics are gorgeous. All around well done cookbook!
This is a fun cookbook for cooking for multiple kinds of occasions. I can't wait to try out some of these recipes for different holidays. My daughter liked looking through this with me too.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This is another great baking book from Zingerman's Bakehouse. I live in Michigan and have been to Zingerman's and it is a great place for lunch and baked goods. This book is filled with great recipes, both sweet and savory, that I am excited to try. The pictures throughout the book are beautiful, this is one of those books you want to have on your shelf.
DELICIOUS! It is separated into seasonal categories. I loved it. The amount of seasonal recipes in this book was amazing and everything looked phenomenal! The photos were dazzling! I really loved this cookbook and all of the tidbits and tips that we get from it!
I was wondering why the title of this cookbook was so familiar and it turns out that I had visited Zingerman's in Ann Arbor back in 2020! I got the impression that it was a cute, local sandwich place but the cookbook shows it offers much more than that.
The book is sectioned into seasons and within those seasons, holidays and events. I guess this ties into their "celebrate every day" title but I found it kind of a pain. The recipes themselves are relatively diverse and offer both metric and volume measurements. I made the Cheddar Herb Scones and they turned out lovely. I'm excited to try out more recipes.
Baked delights of all kinds from the Ann Arbor institution. With everything from basic bread to cookies, arranged by season, you'll find lots of goodies for your friends and family.
What a lovely cookbook! The new Zingerman’s cookbook begins with a thoughtful forward by Mike McGovern, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan and professor of a course entitled The Anthropology of Food. The book was inspired by experiences during the covid pandemic, with a focus on encouraging us to celebrate all the special days of our lives.
There are 80 recipes, organized by season, and it’s a mix of sweet and savory - pies, cookies, cakes, soups, stews, breads and more. The recipes are very detailed and are all accompanied by beautiful photographs. There are some well known recipes, but with a special twist (like goose and matzo ball soup) as well as recipes for some of their shop favorites.
There are many I can’t wait to try: black and white magic brownies, zinglish muffins, bacon pimento cheese, hot cocoa crispy rice treats, and cheddar herb scones, to just name a few!
Thanks to Netgalley, the wonderful Zingermans, and Chronicle Books for the advance look at this wonderful cookbook in exchange for an honest review.
The iconic Zingerman's. So Lucky to be able to review and have them share the recipes that are beloved by so many. The in-depth recipes accompanied by the amazingly beautiful photos as well as diagram's for techniques. This is the ultimate recipe book that is divided by season and will be something you refer to every season. Definitely pick this one up and try the Beef and Guinness stew with Irish Soda Bread, or the Zinglish Muffins for a early morning treat. You will not regret adding this one to your cooking library.
Thank you to Zingerman's, the publisher and Netgalley.
The introduction to the book tells about why we celebrate certain days and occasions.
The book is divided into seasons instead of separate meals as people celebrate holidays at different times with special foods.
You will enjoy using the recipes in this book - the pictures show how delicious the final product is and they are amazing!
First read the ingredient list and the directions for preparing the food - some recipes are more involved than others.
The Fresh Fruit Tart looks delicious with its tart crust, luscious fruit topping with strawberries, peaches and berries, and its apricot glaze!
The Spanish Musician's Tart is full of nuts, caramel and cream, while the Bavarian Soft Pretzels look tender and pull apart fresh.
The Pumpkin Cheesecake has a whipped cream texture with a crisp crust, and the Breakfast Italian Sausage and Pepper Strata have Italian Sausage, onions and peppers in layers with cheese on top and in the middle layers.
Enjoy your celebrations with fantastic new recipes!
Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day by Amy Emberling, Lindsay-Jean Hard, Lee Vedder, and Corynn Coscia
Organized by season and holiday, this cookbook offers both sweet and savory recipes with beautiful photography and fun commentary on the various holidays. I love the variety of recipes and the clear instructions. I also appreciate that ingredients are given by both volume and weight where applicable. The recipes are listed in both the table of contents and in an index by name/ingredient/holiday.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #ChronicleBooks for a free copy of #ZingermansBakehouseCelebrateEveryDay. All opinions are my own.
I like the theme of this book. The book revolves around seasons and holidays and what to cook for these events. Most recipes have cookbooks. The ingredients seem easy to find. The instructions are on average 1-2 pages. I saved a recipe for Sugar Crisp Muffins that look delicious. This might be a little heavy on desserts and breads for my taste because I am a better cook than baker :)
Having run a cookbook club for a few years, there are a handful of traits that make a perfect cookbook and this one has them all!

Sorted by season, and somewhat sub-sorted by relevant holiday, this mix of recipes is a great way to celebrate the wheel of the year. Using seasonal foods and inspiration across many food cultures there will be something for everyone in this cookbook. The dishes mix skills so this cookbook will be a great reference for cooks and bakers of all levels.
I am for sure going to buy this in hard copy and already have several recipes on next weeks meal plan to try.
These recipes look amazing! I cant wait to try some of them. I just reviewed Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day by Amy Emberling, Lindsay-Jean Hard, Lee Vedder, and Corynn Coscia. #ZingermansBakehouseCelebrateEveryDay #NetGalley

Zingerman's is the famous Ann Arbor, Michigan bakery and deli known for providing decades of delicious, creative food. This cookbook is a marvel! It's filled with inspiration and new ideas, but totally grounded in the tradition of warm hospitality and our need to gather and celebrate with family and friends -- holidays and everyday. Definitely a keeper for the cookbook shelf, and filled with fun stories and sidebars as well as great illustrations and photos.
So I’ve been a fan of this bakery for a while now and absolutely loved the first book. I couldn’t wait to try this new book out and oh man it’s flawless I love everything about it and I can’t wait to make some of the cakes for my family during the holidays
Another excellent cookbook from the folks at Zingerman’s Bakehouse. I own their other cookbook and this is a fantastic companion to it. The authors do a great job of walking you through each recipe with detailed instructions and tips. For fans of the Bakehouse this is a great addition to your cookbook library.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was a fun read! I liked there were photos for each recipe as well. I also enjoyed reading a bit of recipe history. This book is a must for any baker and I can’t wait to try several of these recipes!
I really enjoyed reading this cookbook. It's set out so creatively, with recipes grouped by occasion. I was surprised at how many I marked to try! I tried one recipe, the Sugar Crisp Muffins, and they were excellent. I can't wait to try more when the weather cools off. Ones I marked to try include the white bread recipe, whole-wheat funky chunky cookies, michigan double chocolate cookies, the gingerbread coffee cake, the chicago deep-dish pizza and the hot chocolate rice krispie treats. I think this would be a wonderful cookbook to gift at the holidays.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my complimentary digital copy. All opinions are my own.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful recipe book! The pictures of the recipes look good and show what each recipe should turn out like. There's a variety of recipes in this book sorted by season highlighting different celebrations and holidays throughout the year. There's fun recipes for pies, brownies, and other standard American baking fair.
Stunning photographs and a nicely curated range of recipes make this a winning book for any baker!
Thank you Netgalley and Chronicle Books
Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day is a cookbook that encourages the consumer to celebrate days even when they are not holidays through various recipes for all seasons. With a variety of sweet dishes with different flavor profiles, this book is so nice to look at, with clear instructions, beautiful photos, and lovely prose that encourages celebrating more often.
If you ever wanted to learn how to bake just like a populat bakery does for its customers then this is the cookbook for you! From the simple to the outlandish, this cookbook offers recipes for every occasion, big or small. Loved it! I thank Netgalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read and review this cookbook!
I have a friend who has sung the praises of Zingerman’s but I have never made it to Ann Arbor to have the first hand experience. This is certainly as close as it gets with Zingerman’s collection of celebratory recipes.
This is a fabulous cookbook. The recipes are organized by season, beginning with spring and are organized by holidays. For example, summer has two recipes for the first day of school; these are raspberry Patti pockets and local spoonful creamy baked oatmeal. Both look delicious. Find recipes for everything from Passover to Father’s day, and from Halloween to Christmas, and so much more.
The recipes vary in difficulty. An easy one is “The Works Grilled Cheese Sandwich” while some of the bakes are I think beyond my level.
The book is filled with photos and they are sure to make cooks and bakers hungry. This will definitely inspire them to get into the kitchen!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this title. All opinions are my own.
This book will be wonderful addition to the kitchen of anyone who loves making good and great things to eat for family and friends! Plus the beauty of the book itself is a welcome addition to the cookbook library in any home....I know it will soon be part of mine! I love a cookbook that has great introductions to the makers of the recipes, the reasons the cookbook was developed, and what to look forward to in the chapters ahead! Those things give a baker/cook incentive to be a part of the yummy results shared in the book. Love the pictures and information about the recipe included with the instructions on how to make it. Also a great idea to divide by seasons!! So many yummy things within the pages of this cookbook that its hard to pick out favorites. So just start with the season you are in and move forward with testing them all out -- you won't regret it! Thank you to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for the opportunity to read and review this advance reader copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #NetGalley #ZingermansBakehouseCelebrateEveryDay
Having grown up in Ann Arbor, Zingerman's is still a stop on my itinerary whenever I visit family. I own other Zingerman cookbooks because the recipes are clear and easy to follow (and I am not an expert cook or baker). During Covid, I took virtual cooking and baking classes from them and I was happy to see some of the recipes (like the scones) were in this book. I also liked the opening sections written by the authors and appreciated all of the great pictures. I also appreciated the variety of recipes and can't wait to try more! I recommend this cookbook.
Thank you to Netgalley and Chronicle Books for an ARC and I left this review voluntarily.
I have never been to the Zingerman Bakehouse but after checking out this cookbook it will be on my list of places to stop the next time I am in the area. In this book the recipes are arranged by season with all those special days included. So if you want to celebrate the Kentucky Derby then you could check out their Run for the Roses pie. There are special recipes for the First Day of School. Maybe you would like to celebrate Pi Day with a Zingerman's deli chicken pot pie.
The lovely photos of the end results will make your mouth water and want to get in the kitchen to start baking. This is a must cookbook for a person that loves to bake.
"Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day" was a delightful and visually rich cookbook that certainly earns a well-deserved five-star rating. The book is a true treasure trove of recipes that cater to a wide range of occasions, from life events and seasonal holidays to everyday celebrations.

In summary, "Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day" is a must-have addition to any cookbook collection. It's a five-star gem that not only provides delicious recipes but also serves as a source of inspiration for life's diverse celebrations. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice in the kitchen, this cookbook is a delightful and practical resource for adding color and texture to your culinary repertoire.
I grew up 35 minutes from Ann Arbor, MI and have visited Zingerman's on many occasions. Zingerman's is an institution and Zingerman's Bakehouse Celebrate Every Day cookbook actually celebrates this amazing restaurant/bakery. Readers will find a recipe for every special occasion, including several Jewish holidays, birthdays, weddings and even Kentucky Derby Day! I no longer live close to Ann Arbor, but this cookbook will help my Zingerman cravings until I am able to get back to Ann Arbor!
Zingerman's Bakehouse is a well-rounded cookbook that is organized by seasons. Each recipe comes with a beautiful photo and a story, most of recipes have pantry-ready ingredients and straight-forward instructions for all-level of bakers and cooks. This cookbook covers not only sweets but also savory dishes, and from easy to advanced-level of foods as well, so you can try out wide level of recipes.
This cookbook truly has a little bit of everything and you'll never get bored. I love all the beautiful photographs and with the season change right now, I can hardly wait to start baking with this book. Starting with OMG Chocolate Cupcakes!
If you have never been to Zingerman's Bakehouse in Arbor, Michigan, you absolutely must go (and eat!). In the meantime, have fun sampling delicious recipes from a brand new cookbook, ZINGERMAN'S BAKEHOUSE CELEBRATE EVERY DAY by Amy Emberling, Lindsay-Jean Hard, Lee Vedder, and Corynn Coscia. The four authors each adopted a season in order to include "A Year's Worth of Favorite Recipes for Festive Occasions, Big and Small." The photographs by E. E. Berger are stunning – and there are more of them (roughly a hundred) than recipes (about 80) so this is a visual feast as well as one sure to please the palate. Recipes are detailed with fairly lengthy ingredient lists, but the results are so creative and special, that it will truly be a joy to experiment with the ideas here. Examples include Key Lime Pie, The Works Grilled Cheese Sandwich, or Hot Cross Buns for Spring and Blueberry Buckle or Fresh Fruit Tart (plus a couple of Paella choices) for Summer. Fall may be my favorite with Bavarian Soft Pretzels, Kickin' Butternut Soup, Pumpkin Cheesecake and Michigan Double Chocolate Cookies, but Winter has plenty to offer, too: Pfeffernűsse, two versions of King Cake, and West African Peanut Stew or Zingerman's Deli Chicken Pot Pies. And that is just a few from each season – don’t they all sound yummy?
A little bit of Ann Arbor all year round...
Sweet and savory for every season and special day of note...With a fun, can do attitude, this book is broken down into 4 seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Colorful photos, step by step directions in a conversational style with measurements in cups and grams (thank you) there's a recipe to celebrate every special day. I liked both the sweet and savory options and that so many celebrations had a recipe with some zing. The chicken pot pie and babka were recipes I am definitely making.
Recommend.
Super fun book brimming with special recipes from Zingerman's Bakehouse! The book is seasonal and has amazing ideas for each season and the holidays as well. Everything looks delicious and I can't wait to get this book into the kitchen!
Recipes for the year, with an emphasis on holidays, are separated by seasonal chapters. In them are cakes, pies, cookies, breads, breakfast items, and some savory/main dishes. Every recipe has photos, and I loved the section at the end with more description on Techniques and Diagrams. This is an interesting cookbook for those who love celebrating by baking special dishes.
As per the usual this Zingerman's Bakehouse Book is FANTASTIC. The formatting is great, easy to read and follow. I really enjoyed how they sync'd the recipes to match the seasons making it a really fun book to bake through all year long. One issue I did have was some of the included ingredients were a bit obscure.
