Obsessed! I am completely and utterly obsessed with this one. I knew from the beginning this one would be a 5 star read for me. The characters and storyline was so perfectly executed I could not put this one down.

I thinking going in blind to this one is a great idea. It does deal with some heavy topics, including loss of spouse/parent, grief, eating disorders, and mental health, and I think it was all handled so well.

One of my favorite quirky things about this one was for both main characters, Rory and Mike, their internal dialogue would refer to the other by their first and last name. I love the connection and inevitable pull that Rory and Mike had with each other. And just made for a truly special story.

This one is not to be miss and will hit you in the feels for sure! 🤍

This book had me simultaneously holding my pearls and kicking my feet. It still has a chokehold on me and I can not believe that it does not come out until January because who am I supposed to talk about it with until then? I am going to be ordering it to my bookstore as well as making it one of our book club picks for February!

This romance novel, told in dual points of view, was an absolute delight. It was so freaking fun and cute, but was very much a slow-burn type of love story. Not only is it a sweet sorta second chance trope, but the characters are so vulnerable with plenty of heart that adds depth. It was definitely well-written, however, some of the storytelling felt clunky in parts and even like some context was missing in parts. Also, as adorable as the epilogue HEA was, it felt like it was moving a bit too fast for me.

Another great book from Jenny Holiday. The premise was funny and adorable, and Jenny's writing and humour is as strong as ever. I thought she handled the tougher themes of the book very well and sensitively (toxic parental relationship, disordered eating, loss of a spouse). Definitely watch for this one - I highly recommend.

How can you go wrong with a hockey player and a dance instructor. This book was so much fun. I just loved the characters and learning things about them. I enjoyed seeing them connect to each other. I thought the author did a great job dealing with a heavy subject. It didn't bring you down but it made you feel more for the characters. This book was fun, entertaining and makes me love to read even more.

This book was everything that I needed and more. I haven’t read a hockey romance in a while, and this one was perfect! Not only does this book deal with dramas (losing a spouse, eating disorders, and panic attacks) but it has a beautiful love story at his core. I loved how both of these characters were able to deal and handle their grief and grow themselves. This book was everything! As someone that just lost my pregnancy/baby and has a history of both panic attacks and eating disorder, I loved how accurate these topics were dealt with. It was exactly what I needed! Excellent plot pacing, character development, timing and the slow burn romance between Aurora and Mike! I felt it was a little rushed at the end, and would have liked it to be a little flushed out more. But I loved this and highly recommend it!

When Aurora was a teenager working at the Mall of America coffee shop she met a hockey player from Canada. He became the perfect fake boyfriend, that she would tell people from her school on why she couldn’t attend events. He was the perfect cover for any awkward social situation. He never had to know and it wasn’t like she was ever going to see him again.

Years later, when Aurora is teaching kids’ dance classes while battling panic and eating disorders from her time in the ballet in New York. When Mike Martin NHL hockey player walks in with his daughter, who’s been out of her class as her mother passed away in a car accident everything changes for Aurora. An unlikely friendship is formed between Mike and Aurora as they help each other with their struggles and demons. The only problem is Mike is the boy that she met in the mall and pretended was her “Canadian Boyfriend”. The longer that she keeps this secret the harder this is going to hurt.

Umm I’m waiting for my Canadian hockey boyfriend too please!

No, but seriously, I loved this one. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, but don’t worry you’ll be happy by the end.
I’m a sucker for the single dad trope, but I absolutely loved this one. Mike was such a caring dad, I loved his and Olivia’s relationship.
Now, Rory is amazing too. The way she’s described in the book, this girls been through a lot. Though, that didn’t stop Mike from showing her she could be loved. That she was more than what anybody thought of her. In every aspect, Aurora was very relatable and one of my favorite fmc’s I’ve read in a while!!
Now, that epilogue! It might just be perfect, it was everything and more.

This book was so real and raw in some many ways. I loved seeing Aurora and Mike heal and slowly grow, I think it makes this book really special. I appreciated that the romance aspect was more slow burn because it felt true to the characters and the story. I think overall it was a good book I just personally didn’t fall in love with it but I would recommend to others. Definitely a charming story about healing and love.
