Painting with Bob Ross for Kids

I do hope someone with kids handy invests in this book and shares some of the results with me although, shh, it’d work for adults, too. Materials available at bobross.com but haven’t checked prices. No, not planning to do any painting myself but since it appears it’d be doable for my old self, betting that most anyone could be successful. Subjects seem relatively simple and, yes, I did notice that “happy little trees” are included.

Bottom line, this is a fun, easy-to-follow guide to create the Bob Ross way. I always enjoyed his show, so it was a delight to relive my memories as I went through the book. Combining comic style illustrations and simple, easy to understand step-by-step instructions with pictures, the book will guide you to success. I noted that, yes, while you need more than a simple brush and some paint, all available online, as noted, the items needed are limited and should be easy to find. I particularly liked that, in the spirit of Ross, the book frequently reminds us that there are no mistakes, just learning as we go. Living in Alaska, the source of much of Ross's inspiration, I grinned as I imagined myself in some of the settings and bet you will, too. This should be a must have for anyone who has the yen to create, whether child or adult. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hmm, Christmas gift, anyone?

There are several paintings with detailed instructions. This book stresses there are no mistakes. Each painting will look different, and it is up to the artist to make it their own.
While this book is tailored for children there is no reason adults cannot use it. This book is made to be fun!

Being from the UK, I didn't know who Bob Ross was, but we enjoy art as part of our home school so I picked this book up.

I was amazed by the art created in this book. Most children's art books aim for simplistic pieces, but Bob Ross aims to have your child create masterpieces.

I still need to get them materials together to start on a piece. There aren't a lot of supplies needed and the equipment is simple to find.

There are a number of projects to follow in this book and the step by step pictures make it seem very achievable.

I had so much fun reading this book, the story is so adorable and the illustrations were so well done and charming, there’s so many little details in every page that I couldn’t stop but be mesmerized by it all. I will definitely be recommending it! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

I adore Bob Ross, but I can’t paint for toffee. Even though this how to is aimed at children, I found it just as good for adults too! The intro talks through all the equipment, tools, and techniques, and then each chapter features a different scene to paint. The painting instructions and illustrations are clear, simple, and easy to follow - perfect for a total beginner like me, or a child, Each painting has a step by step to follow, adding more detail each time. There are top tips, cute cartoons, and really detailed photographs showing you each individual stage. It’s really engaging for children, and pitched just right. What a perfect way to teach your child a new skill, or to build up their confidence with an existing one.
Would definitely recommend.

While geared toward kids, anyone with a love for painting landscapes can easily create wonderful paintings. The step by step tutorials in the book are easy to follow as well as a detailed list of the items needed to create the paintings. The picture directions are clear and good. Fans of Bob Ross, young and old, will love this book!

Wow!! This is a such a wonderful book! Bob would be proud. This book takes the magic that is Bob Ross and his painting style and breaks it down for children and includes beautiful photographs of the steps. The standard supplies have been replaced with kid-friendly substitutions which allow for the same techniques, but without the harsher chemicals found in oil painting. Love this book!!

Who doesn’t love the wonderful Bob Ross and Painting with Bob Ross for kids although it’s not the longest of books it was very easy to follow, with simple steps and lots of pictures to show how to paint your own landscape images and happy little trees, I’m even tempted to try myself.

🎨 This book is fantastic! I can’t draw stick figures, but I honestly believe I could follow the information in this book and paint a reasonable-looking landscape! I kinda want to try!

🎨 The instructions are very clear, and pictures are included on each step so readers understand exactly what they are supposed to do. See my slides for some page examples.

🎨 This book is targeted to children ages 6 to 8 years old, but anyone interested in learning how to paint could benefit from this book.
