Written with wit and wisdom, this book is a delightful and empowering respurce that encourages readers to be kinder to themselves, reject unrealistic standards, and celebrate their authentic selves. This book truly is the ultimate guide to going into/being in goblin mode!
The imagery/art is amazing, many pages have decorative borders or little drawings and art strewn about. (My favorite pads is the one with “coffee stains”!
This book helped me discover that, as a matter of fact, I live much of my daily life in goblin mode!!!
I love that it emphasizes that goblin mode is not a state of being lazy and unhygienic or gross, but instead being comfortable with yourself and your home, no worries about things being perfect or constantly tidy.
It is so interactive as well!!! Many of the pages include prompts that ultimately help you understand why goblin mode could be extremely beneficial to your health and help you to see the bits of yourself that you didn’t realize were a part of goblin mode!
It was a very intriguing book, and I hope everyone begins embracing their goblin side!
To start, I just loveeeee this idea of being a goblin and self acceptance. I think the prompts are great and there are so many beneficial ideas to take from this journal. The artwork, unmatched! It brings me so much joy. For me, the lines for writing are a little intimidating. Maybe that is just me, cause I don’t love writing. Others would probably love it!!! This won’t be for everyone, but it will be perfect for someone!
What a fun, creative self-care workbook! The art and design is sweet and inviting. In the age of self-help books, this one should be on everyone's shelf. Be free, Goblin!
I had heard about the Beverage Goblin from a Bookstagram account I follow but besides that I wasn't familiar with the entire Goblin way of life. This book is adorable and really gave me an insight of to how I've been living life recently. Laid back, no hustling, moment by moment. It is all presented in a fun and unique way. The book has great illustrations and more! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Would make a great gift!
"Goblin Mode Guide to Life" beautifully captures the essence of being imperfectly perfect, reminding us that life doesn't always have to be picture-perfect or "Instagram ready" to be meaningful and enjoyable. It's a book that invites you to celebrate your quirks, your missteps, and your idiosyncrasies. I love its interactive nature; there are plenty of journal prompts which encourage you to embrace your inner goblin, to revel in your uniqueness, and to find joy in the everyday chaos of life. It's not just a book to read; it's a companion to accompany you on your journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance.
I adored this book, it feels accepting and non-judgemental. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone, particularly to those who constantly strive for perfectionism but get tired and lost along the way. An easy 5 stars from me!
Ok how is a book about goblin core inspiring and empowering? I don't know but some how this book is and oh my God do I love it. I realized that am in fact a goblin and that's totally perfect and ok.
Delightful! This is self-care/self-help that is loving and embraces the reader as they are. It's aspirational in the best way; what would your be if you let yourself be YOU? How would you feel if you were rested and in love with your own life? See it? Well, let's get you there!
I'll be getting this one for myself and my friends for sure.
I loved this little workbook and would definitely purchase it! So many great points are made, about self care and setting boundaries, with many interactive pages and space to write and doodle!
This is a fantastic little book all about the concept of "Goblin Mode" and how to be a "goblin." I enjoyed the bits about history and origin of the goblin, as well as a bit of folklore. This book is quite fun, as there is a lot of space for self-reflection and exploration. I would say this book is almost a guided journal centered around the concept and will have you asking yourself a lot of questions and reflecting on your habits, ideas, and stereotypes. Overall, fun and interactive book with adorable art throughout!
This is such a cute little workbook that I will definitely be purchasing, it had lots of great points and also spaces for you to fill out.
Such a fun book! This would make a great gift, especially for late teens/early 20’s age range. Lots of space to journal and draw and a ton of great prompts. I loved the layout and the artwork in the book! Definitely buying several for gifts!
I've very recently heard about Goblin Mode and I love how authentic the phrase is. I too find myself learning a lot from the Goblin Mode lifestyle throughout my read. The overall layout of the book reminds me a lot of shadow work or even regular journaling. The illustrations are stunning and hilarious. Very unique read, looking forward to finding this book at the bookstores near me!
Goblin Mode Guide to life gives a somewhat humourous take on self-help/self-care. it is a fun workbook style guide.
5.0 / 5.0 Think Marie Kondo for forest denizens...
This journal is a fun-filled, whimsical collection of prompts to help you unleash you inner Goblin Mode and de-stress. I had such a good time reading through the pages of full-color inspirations that really had me stopping to consider the way I manage some aspects of my life. The entire thing was a fun exercise in wisdom versus intelligence, and understanding what works best for each person.
I immediately went to find it on Amazon and get my copy ordered because I know this will be one that I consult over and over.
I think this would be a good gift (and look at that the holidays are right down the lane) for the introverted, dark academia-loving, trinket-crafting person in your life be that a separate individual or yourself.
Until Next Time,
MC
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to review this book for my honest review.
This book had brought many things about myself to my attention. It fun, unique way of perspective really made things fun and easy to read.
Goblin Mode Guide to Life is the perfect journal/book for reflecting on the busyness of day to day life. Goblin-mode is not stepping into The Lord of the Rings, but being reflective about how you spend you time, how you take care of yourself, and lowering your perfectionism tendencies. All of these sections spoke to me. The pages are fun and easy to use. Loved this!
I am so afraid of self-help books because they tend to be so shame-filled and dismissive of mental health but I got excited by the term “goblin” and I am so glad I requested it. This book was healing and helpful for me as a perpetually “teacher-tired” woman. This books is so interactive and silly while being helpful and impactful. The aesthetics are so engaging and the illustrations are so cute and whimsical. I love how beautiful and peaceful this book is as it encourages you to embrace rest and do what is best for yourself. I have so many people I have to recommend this to.
This was the cutest little self care journal I have seen in a while and I honestly cannot wait to buy a physical copy. I find myself growing closer to Goblin Mode and I think this would be a fun little activity this winter.
This was cute, fun, and insightful. I will definitely be getting a paper copy for myself and some friends for gifts soon. I really loved the interactiveness of it, and it will be a good self care excercise to embrace the imperfection of life.
I love this book! This is a creative take on self-care that makes it fun and whimsical. If you are a code withy type of mom like myself this is the book of you. While the focus is really helping you give yourself graze it is combined with a fantasy aspect that makes you feel like a fairytale creature (even if it is in the form of a goblin).
This book is creative and fun. You will not be bored reading through it and completing the prompts. Yes this is a work book with what is my opinion the cutest art work! I have never felt so at home doing a self-help workbook, which should always be the goal honestly.
Oh how I loved this book! This is the perfect self help book, it encourages you to embrace what you are rather than strive for perfection. It is such a fun read and made me smile so often. This will have a pride of place on my bookshelf.
This is a book about dealing with internalised shame over not having a picture perfect insta ready home.
I adored the graphical style of the book, the illustrations, the worksheets and journalling prompts.
I found it really helpful to have space to reflect on what my values are and small actions I can commit to, in order to not descend into a feral sub-goblin. I will certainly be implementing some of these in my day to day life.
I think this would also be a great resource for neurodivergent goblins.
Goblin Mode Guide to Life is a beautifully written and designed book to help you remember that being imperfect is perfect. It’s a self help book that reminds you, it’s okay to be exactly as you are without trying to fit in to society or other’s standards for you.
The book itself is full of practical exercises to help you achieve your self awareness and curb or at least recognize the criticism you feel about ourselves. We have practices to work on setting healthy boundaries and habits. I truly see the value and importance within this book.
The cover is gorgeous and what initially caught my attention!
This is a delightful workbook about goblin mode in all its forms! It introduces you to what goblin mode is and is not, or to be more exact, how to determine what it is and is not for YOU. I really like how the whole book focuses on the concept that what works for me may not work for someone else, and that's fine! There's less focus on the stereotypical elements like frogs and mushrooms, and more on creating a lifestyle that feels valuable, productive and comfortable. The book has lots of space for adding notes, and I'd love to have a hard copy of it for just that purpose. The drawings scattered throughout lend the whole thing a light touch of whimsy that makes paging through even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone who's thinking about getting in touch with their inner goblin.
5 *****
This book is visually attractive, clearly laid out, easy to read, and nonjudgmental - without throwing all semblance of civilization to the wind.
The etymology of the term “goblin mode” was gracefully covered and provided a concise, contextualized explanation of what it does and does not mean and entail.
The book was full of thoughtful exercises for self-awareness, including bringing to one’s consciousness the harshly critical terms we may unthinkingly apply to ourselves. These exercises help to not only identify our negative self-talk, but also to reframe it. There were also exercises to consider healthy parameters to keep us in goblin mode rather than straying into seriously unhealthy realms of behavior.
I recommend this attractive, approachable book!
My thanks to the publisher for a free preview copy in exchange for my honest review.
“Goblin Mode Guide to Life” by Editors of Chartwell Books is a self-help lifestyle guide to living like a “goblin”. What is it to be a goblin in today’s society? Some may say it’s being a “slob”, but is it really? This book helps with the cozy lifestyle of the goblin living but without being out of control and dirty. There are places to write and reflect on self-introspection and what is actually important in your life. There are help worksheets on cleaning tasks you choose to prioritize on those hard days. The sections include home, hospitality, self-care, clothing style, work, and relationships.
I loved the cottage core witchy vibes and the nature imagery, especially the mushrooms. It reminds me a lot of “slow living lifestyle”. I liked the cute ideas and tutorials on things like “How to make an easy terrarium”. This book made me question the way we think our lives should look like and how perfectionism can be toxic to our relationships and ourselves. I’m definitely going to be implementing as much as I can in my life and see if I notice an improvement in mental health and my families happiness. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
This was just a beautiful and delightful book.
To start with the graphics were beautiful. Each page emanated goblin. The pictures were cute and The colour scheme was inkeeping with the overall theme -goblin- and the quality of the artwork on each page was phenomenal.
My favourite part of the book was the goblin home and goblin fashion chapters. It had some great info graphics and was really informative.
I loved how the author didn't just tell us what goblin mode was but made us think about how it relates to us. Using activities to make us write down how we feel about a topic or how we can incoperate aspects into our everyday life was a great tool and really added to usefulness of the book.
Speaking of which, the whole book felt informative. Which is odd because the concept of Goblin mode is relatively new, how could someone be informative on something so new? Well they were. It was clear that the author knew what they were talking about. It didn't feel like it was regurgitated from the Internet and it had a really personal feel to it.
I would 100% buy this book, and I can't wait to put it on my coffee table amidst my goblin clutter.
I thought this was a fantastically whimsical way to spend my time. A workbook for adults that capture all of our chaotic lives and gave us cutesy illustrations to fill the void!
Goblin Mode is a delightful guide to reflecting on what it means to be in goblin mode. I loved the cute illustrations of forest creatures! The book contains many questions and spaces to reflect, quizzes, and helpful tips. Goblin Mode is perfect for people who have never heard of the phrase to people who have already fully embraced it! I would definitely recommend you pick up a copy for yourself or as a gift.
Thank you to Editors of Chartwell Books, Quarto Publishing Group, and Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
For publisher: My review will be posted on Instagram, Goodreads, Amazon, Storygraph, and Barnes & Noble etc
I just got done reading the Goblin Mode Guide to Life and I'm so impressed! It's such an interesting and interactive workbook that really helps you embrace your feral side and thrive in imperfection. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get in touch with their wild side.
A fun new different workbook that I haven’t seen before and definitely one that would have caught my eye on a store shelf. As someone who labels themselves as a goblin and going into goblin mode often this was super helpful. I enjoy that the book doesn’t describe being a goblin means you’re messy or gross but more being comfortable, eccentric or a maximalist.
The prompts were all very fun and some were especially helpful going into the fall season. The goblin mode tests and questionnaires were I think one of the funnest parts of this workbook. I will definitely be taking some of these prompts and using them in the future when needed. The art in the book was cute, stilly and perfect and the bonus doodle pages were a chefs kiss.
Thank you NetGalley and Chartwell Books for this ARC!
