Wow. This book is stunning. I was so eager to check this one out-especially as a fan of memoirs and biographies. I absolutely love that the illustrator is able to capture the essence of Warhol's art style in the illustrations, format, and layout of this book. It makes for a very immersive experience while reading the memoir.
This is a must have for any Andy Warhol fan. It really takes reading a biography to an elevated experience.
Biography meets culture meets comics. Both the prose and images in this book point to care and attention for a fascinating and enigmatic subject.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me a free eARC of this book.
I obviously knew who Andy Warhol was, as I had studied his artwork in school. But there was a lot about his life that I didn't know about. I learned a lot about him reading this book. I also thought it was clever to write the biography as a graphic novel. A lot of the panels were drawn in a similar style to Andy Warhol's art style. I loved it!

Going into this Graphic Biography, I knew little to nothing about Andy Warhol. As a queer person myself, I always knew that his art impacted my culture throughout the decades, so I was excited to learn his story. This biography by Michele Botton achieves this well by bringing the reader along through Andy's life. I highly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who might be the slightest bit interested.
Fabulous and beautifully illustrated. I really loved and enjoyed this read. I highly recommend. Thanks NetGallery!
“And then I died. But perhaps I’d already become immortal.”
This book is so beautiful. It is so beautiful on so many levels. Not only does it serve as a beautiful tribute to this absolutely awesome artist, but it is also made beautiful. The art of this graphic novel is very Warhol-deserving. Each little drawing feels perfect to tell his story.
At first, I read it. Then my tween raided my shelf app to see if there was anything she might be interested in. She ended up reading this one. And now, she, the budding artist she is, is obsessed with Andy Warhol. I went to pick her up from her art class last night and was greeted with a Warhol-style painting of Shot Marylins. Nice.
This made me think how maybe the world needs more books like this one. Not just a biography, but a somewhat immersive experience of taking a closer look at the artist – this graphic novel where art style is one I’m very much sure Andy Warhol himself would approve of being used for a book about his life. This book is just so, so perfect for what it is.
This incredible graphic novel captures Warhol's essence and artistic style perfectly. Fans will absolutely adore this, as will readers wanting to know about this iconic creative.
First time I read a graphic biography and I'm so into it. Andy Warhol's life story is so interesting as I finish read this. The straight out to the point of storytelling might make this book more fast-paced but it doesn't fail to highlight the important point, ideas, and events on his life that affecting his career and what makes him Andy Warhol. It's so interesting and fun to read!
