This is a book you will want to own and refer back to often!
Am I the only one that wishes my family had generational knowledge in herbal medicine to pass down? I’ve been educating myself for the past few years, and I plan to pass this knowledge down to my child, along with a request for him to do the same.
This book is an amazing reference guide. It kicks off with a list of what you’ll want to keep on hand in your medicine cabinet, which I always love a good list and starting point.
It offers very clear recipes for things like soap, tea, syrup and medicinal candy balls in addition to remedies for sore throat, congestion, constipation, rashes, colic and more. Definitely stuff I’ll be trying for myself in addition for my little one!
It also includes helpful things like a dosage guide, tips on getting the most out of the remedies, how to instructions, and some really great resources at the end.
For example, I learned that Stevia (my go-to sweetener) is highly processed in stores, and that I’d be way better served to grow it myself. I’m looking into starting it this year!
Overall, the vibe of the book displays a humble gratefulness for the healing plants that Mother Earth provides us. The author’s passion and care really shines through. She does an amazing job of inviting children to be a part of the process so that they are just as invested as the parent. It’s simply beautiful and somewhat magical (lunar infused tea 💕).
Thank you to NetGalley, Storey Publishing, and Rosemary Gladstar for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
mamas!
The detailed information about individual herbs is so educational. I know that this is a tool that will read, annotated, reread, & referenced often! Also, the way the pages are designed helps to make the information easy to find, visually appealing, and allows for smooth reading.
I can not wait to get my hands on my own printed copy.
Thank you to Storey publishing, Rosemary Gladstar, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love how informative this book is and the simple recipes you can make for your children.
I love the explanations, warnings and explanations of the different types of herbs that may be similar in name or identity.
There are different remedies included in this book, from teas, salves and spritzes with simple directions to follow.
I would def purchase this book to keep on hand at home!
I volunteered to read this ARC through NetGalley
Rosemary Gladstar’s Herbs for Children’s Health, 3rd Edition is the perfect book for anyone with children who is looking for alternatives to modern medicine. Full of pictures and easy to follow recipes, this book will guide you in the essentials of what herbs to buy or plant in order to treat basic maladies for children (and adults too).
I just made a list of what seeds to buy for the garden this year so I can make some of the treatments mentioned! Homemade Vicks, all purpose salve, and room freshening spray are at the top of my list!
Thank you to Storey Publishing, Storey Publishing, LLC, and NetGalley for an ARC of this beautiful new edition.
Rosemary Gladstar is my all time favorite herbal expert and I have been following her recipes and reading her books for decades. This is a great compilation of herbal remedies and information for parents, complete with all the basics if you are brand new to herbal remedies. Highly recommended.
I read a temporary digital copy of this book for review.
This book is an incredible resource for any parent who is looking for ways to increase the use of herbs in every day wellness! My grandmother was an avid herbalist and this book reinforced a lot of what I’ve learned from her. Who knew bay leaves help to prevent insect bites and that blackberry root is great for digestive issues?! Can’t recommend this book enough!
Herbs for children’s health by Rosemary Gladstar is a great book! Once again Rosemary has produced a book full of valuable information in a great teaching style. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning about the medical uses of herbs.
It’s hard to find herbal remedies for babies. This book has it. Thankfully I’ve not needed to use any of the recipes. However, the conversions for babies is nice to have in the chance I do need to use a recipe.
She breaks down each herb, why it’s important and how much to use. It’s a lovely book I’ll be using while my kiddo grows up. I recommend it to all my friends with babies and kids.
thank you for an early copy!
Great book to add to your collection. I will absolutely be getting a physical copy to keep on hand and refer to. This book gives recommendations as to what to have on hand for common ailments for children. I prefer to have natural remedies for my kids as opposed to traditional medicine… when possible. Overall a great book that I would recommend to other, and new, parents!
I love it! Will def purchase the physical copy and go back to it time and time again. Recommend to everybody!
Great book to add to any collection. I enjoyed the recommendations as to what to have on hand for common ailments for my children. I prefer to have natural remedies available as opposed to medicine such as Tylenol. Unlike other books I have read on this topic, I appreciated the added commentary on when to involve professional help if natural remedies do not work. Overall this is a great book and I would consider gifting it to new parents too.

I need a hard copy of this book, stat! … and so do you! As a new mama wanting to take a holistic approach to health, this was such an interesting and accessible read. I loved how it went in depth into each of the herbs and provided background and ways to use them. I also loved learning more about herbal medicine in general. I can’t wait to start making these recipes and using more of these herbs now that I have more confidence!
I have been wanting to implement more natural remedies into mine and my children’s lives. I definitely recommend this book due to the ability to read through it easily. Everything is explained in detail and full of information on different herbs and their uses. My favorite herbs have always been dandelion and purple dead nettle. Now I will get to try more options out this spring and summer.
“Please, don’t, take these beautiful things that I’ve got” 🫶🏻💛
Mom of four little ones here and all the sicknesses are so scary- after spending 4 days/nights in the ICU with an RSV scare, I devoured this book. I grew up with my mom using Natures Sunshine products, herbs, and having my sisters and I see a naturalist doctor. Lots of backstories and reasons for this route. Now as a mom I’m trying to learn all these things myself, and even for myself what I need to take the best care of me. So this book was just incredible. Alphabetical order of all the herbs, what they can do, how they can help, when to seek more help. The pictures were so beautiful and helpful. I was absolutely amazed! I always love to try a natural approach first, and this was so helpful to know what I’d need and when, as well as how to make it or what to do with it. Rosemary Gladstar put together a wonderful, and resourceful tool for parents. It comes out September 23. 🌿🌿🌿Thank you @netgalley @rosemarygladstar @storeypublishing for this advanced copy. #netgalley #rosemarygladstar #storeypublishing #kidsherbs #herbsforkids
This book is the absolute best. I love every book by Rosemary glass star the recipes are simple, the information is priceless. I have already made some of the recipes in this book and I'm looking very forward to making more for my family
Thank you to Netgally and the Publisher for this copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
I love that the author gives you advice on how to safely use these herbs. The book tells you how to test for allergic reactions to the herbs. I love that the herbs are listed from A-Z, she tells you what part of the plant/herbs to use, what to use it for, as well as recipes for usage. I will definitely be putting this book to use.
Amazing reference title for herb use in children! As I look towards more holistic and natural based remedies I found this title to be extremely well done in terms of ease to understand. There are a number of useful information graphics such as the herbal medicine cabinet graphic, listing a handful of staple syrups / teas/ tinctures, that I find very helpful when you're just starting out. This title covers the ethical ground of when to use herbs vs when to seek medical help, I appreciated this section. Herbal profiles are easy to understand and complete, covering used parts, benefits and uses. This title does NOT give enough information to be a reference for identifying while hunting and collecting wild herbs There are so many great recipes included in this work, suggesting there is a lot that can be done with herbs both medicinally and for flavorful treats. Beautiful photos, cohesive theme between chapters, color coded chapters. Chapter five covers the really important information regarding proper dosage for children vs adults. The appendix is such a treat; covering flower essences is just so cool.
Th this third edition of the herbs for children's health book, we can trust Rosemary Gladstar will accompany us to understand so many easy-to-make remedies for children. This is a must reference guide book for every parents in the world to read and to help them during the children's sickness. So many good reccomendation indeed.
When I say I am obsessed with this little guide to herbal remedies for kids, I mean I am OBSESSED!
Over the past decade I’ve made a drastic switch away from processed foods and pharmaceuticals and even though I have YEARS of research, growth, and wisdom, this guide proved to me there is always room for improvement and more learning. And that excited me!
Rosemary Gladstar approaches herbal remedies with a sense of care and humility. She provided tools and tips to replace OTC medicines with natural remedies you can grow in a garden. From teas and tinctures to balms and salves, this is an INVALUABLE resource if you’re seasoned or new to natural health. I COMPLETELY recommend this guide if you feel ready to take the giant leap away from big pharma!

Herbs for children's health, is a good book to guide you in helping the health of your children in a more natural way.
After all this is where the pharmaceutical business originated from, using natural herbs.
Modern medicine obviously has its place too, but natural remedies do as well and understanding their uses is where it begins.
