Description
The perfect boyfriend only exists on paper…doesn’t he?
Fresh off the heels of a bad breakup, Chloe Anderson poured her heart into penning the perfect boyfriend—and the result was an off-the-charts debut beach read that resonated with women worldwide. Now, Chloe’s scripted hero is headed for Hollywood, with her book destined to become a major motion picture.
When Chloe gets wind that silver screen bad boy Liam Hamilton has been cast as the ideal-in-every-way hero of her novel, she’s horrified by the film director’s choice. How could a player like Liam possibly do Chloe’s perfect hero justice? Unafraid to speak her mind, Chloe lets her executive producer know she’s one hundred percent opposed to the casting. And oops—the call is on speakerphone, where the annoyingly attractive Hollywood star hears Chloe’s unbridled outrage firsthand.
With Liam’s reputation already on the rocks, his agent concocts a PR plan to upgrade Liam’s image while putting the story—and the film—in the spotlight. The catch? During the movie’s filming in Chloe’s cute hometown of Stillwater, North Carolina, Chloe and Liam will fake a wholesome, committed relationship. Both stand to gain something from the arrangement. Liam’s fans will see him in a new light, while Chloe can boost her struggling social media following and further her writing career. What could possibly go wrong?
As author and actor navigate the waters of the PR relationship, they’re unprepared when their professional agreement turns into an actual friendship. And when serious sparks start to fly—well, that’s an unread chapter for both of them.

Love, Unscripted By Denise Hunter
I LOVED this story and it also featured my favourite narrator (Kathleen McInerney). The story centered around an author (Cloe) who's novel had been chosen to be made into a movie. Liam is cast to be the lead and she is not happy about this choice. The story follows Chloe and Liam through the process of making the movie.
I found myself wanting to see the movie and read the novel that was at the center of this story. At the beginning of the story I did not expect to like Liam's character at all, but quite quickly I could see there was much more to him. Denise's character development had me routing for Liam and Chloe and although there was some predictability there was also some twists and turns that kept me wondering how it would end.
It is a perfect beach read (or listen) for this summer! Although this is considered Christian Romance I would not have considered Christian as it does not contain overt Christian content in my opinion. I would recommend this book to those looking for a great beach read with good character development, with great pacing and a twist.

Typically I am not a fan of movie star romance. But this one is fantastic! I'm craving more!
Chloe Anderson has written a book that will be adapted to a movie. When she finds out that they offered the lead role to a bad boy star, she is upset. Her perfect hero character was going to be played by a man who was a serial dater. Chloe and Liam decide to fake date which changed into something more.
Many thanks to HarperCollins Christian Publishing and Net Galley for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and Denise Hunter for the copy of this book. This book will be published on March 12, 2024.
The dynamic between Chloe and Liam is the highlight of the book, with their banter and chemistry jumping off the pages. Despite their initial animosity, their forced proximity leads to genuine connection and mutual understanding, making their journey from fake relationship to real love feel authentic and earned. The supporting cast of characters, including Chloe's quirky hometown friends and Liam's loyal but mischievous agent, adds depth and humor to the story, enhancing the overall reading experience.
One of the novel's strengths is its witty dialogue and clever narrative twists, which keep readers guessing and eagerly turning pages until the very end. The blending of romance, humor, and Hollywood glamour is expertly done, creating a perfect balance of heart and hilarity that will leave readers grinning from ear to ear. While the plot may follow some familiar rom-com tropes, the execution is so charming and well-crafted that it feels fresh and enjoyable throughout.
Overall, "Love, Unscripted" is a delightful romp that will leave readers swooning and smiling long after they've finished the final chapter. With its lovable characters, engaging storyline, and irresistible romance, this book is the perfect escape for anyone in need of a feel-good read. So grab a copy, settle in with a cup of tea, and prepare to be thoroughly charmed by Chloe and Liam's whirlwind romance. I enjoyed this light and fun love story!
I look forward to reading more books by Denise Hunter!!! I am excited to have found a new author to follow!
When play boy actor lands the starring role in her first book to film movie; Chloe is less than thrilled. Fearing her new venture in film will blow up as a playboy is not how her book character is. This could lead to decline in book sales too. Fearing for her future some how along the line the two make a deal. Both benefit from the barter but when things turn up and media picks up things are questioned. This audiobook was am enjoyable fast read romance novel. Would recommend for anyone interested in celebrity gossip, books to films or those who love Hallmark movies.
Well now, I’m throughly charmed and in a post-read tizzy after finishing this delicious contemporary romance. If ever a book screamed ‘beach read’ this one does — from the pretty cover right through to the very last page.
And, oh my! Two of my favourite tropes — enemies to more and fake dating — written to sweet (and angsty) perfection. With liberal doses of humour mixed in. Such a fun read, though some deeper topics are covered as well which keep things realistically messy and just a bit desperate at times.
I’m not usually one for a movie star hero. The whole Hollywood scene isn’t something I care about at all. Or the social media hype that goes along with the rich and famous so, normally I would have passed over this novel BUT Denise Hunter is the author so….I decided to be brave. 🙂
And, wonders of wonders, I actually enjoyed the movie aspects of this novel. Hunter adds just enough details to feel authentic without the ‘Hollywood’ aspects overwhelming the story. Of course, the whole PR scheme screams ‘Hollywood’ but it plays out brilliantly with lots of lovely ‘getting to know you’ kind of scenes to smile and swoon over. And then, when things really heat up — clear your fainting couch and keep your smelling salts handy because it’s not just the summer temps rising…until…well, let’s just say the author doesn’t make it too easy for Liam and Chloe to achieve their happily-ever-after.
I listened to the audio edition of Love, Unscripted (brilliant title tie-in by the way) narrated by Kathleen McInerney who amped up my ‘reading’ enjoyment all the more. She is a talented storyteller who brings characters to life in such a compelling way. Superb listening experience.
My thanks to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.
OK. So…I love sappy stories!
And apparently, I love anything Denise Hunter writes…
I did NOT expect this to be a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and yet it was!!! 😮😮😮
So…Chloe is an author. She went through a bad break up and realized that there are NO perfect men out there…
So, she created one. IN HER BOOK!
Mad guess what? The world went crazy!
Everyone fell in love with him!
And now….it’s going to be a movie!
So let me stop right there…
All my avid readers: You hear one of your favorite books is going to be a movie! You get excited! You go watch the movie!
MOST of the time you’re disappointed…because…THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE!!
Well, Chloe knows this…and she wants the movie to be just as good!
So when she hears that her PERFECT GUY is going to be played by the biggest playboy out there….well, she’s NOT HAPPY!
And that makes for the best kind of book!
Chloe and Liam will have you CRACKING UP throughout the book!
So many sweet, funny and hysterical moments!
Absolutely loved this one!
But know that there are also some pretty deep moments too. This is the kind of book that makes you feel ALL THE FEELS…and that’s my FAVORITE kind of book!
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

Aww, I loved this sweet, small town romance by Denise Hunter.
Love, Unscripted is about an author (Chloe) whose dream is coming true! Her debut novel is being turned into a movie. She's not so thrilled when she finds out who is playing the main male character. Liam is the opposite of the character he is portraying in the movie. The two decide for the sake of the book and movie to work together. You'll have to read to find out how that goes!
The narrator had a sweet voice that really went well with the vibe of the book!
Thanks to the author and NetGalley for giving me advance access to the audio book, in exchange for an honest review.
Highly recommend this book if you're looking for...
fake dating, celebrity crush, clean romance or small town
In some ways this book reminded me of Nora Goes off Script, so if you loved that book definitely check out Love, Unscripted!
"Love, Unscripted" by Denise Hunter is an excellent rom com. I found it very enjoyable! The dialogue seems very realistic. The characters are well defined, and most are likable. There are comical moments. It's a good Hallmark type story with more substance than most of those. This is my first read of any books by Denise Hunter, but I'll look for more as I really liked her style. This book would make a good movie.
Book author, Chloe, and leading man for the movie adaptation, Liam, decide to create a publicity relationship. Enemies -> lovers type plus pretend relationship that morphs. Great chemistry. Smut free.
Kathleen McInerney did a terrific job narrating the audiobook! I really liked the voices she used for each character.
Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction, a division of Harper Collins Christian Publishing, as well as Denise Hunter, for providing this audiobook for review purposes. All opinions in this review are my own.
I loved this book! It was so sweet. I fell in love with Chloe and her sweet southern charm and innocence. This was such a heartwarming story, you couldn’t help but root for love.

This book has it all. And it was so good. I read it all in one day. So if you need a good beach, fake dating romance this one is for you.
I’ve listened to many books by Kathleen McInerny, she was one of the reasons I picked the book. She always brings the characters to life with her narration.
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Christian Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
If you are looking for a clean and super sweet romance with a summer breezy vibe that contains yummy food, enduring friendship, and fake dating (with a handsome actor), I recommend checking out this book!
Huge thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the opportunity to enjoy this audiobook!
Kathleen McInerney is a fabulous narrator and did such a great job portraying the emotional depth in this book!
Love, Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, is the story of author Chloe Anderson as she works with Hollywood studios to bring her novel to the silver screen. Chloe wrote her bestselling debut novel, Beneath the Summer Skies, after an intense heart break. Chloe has based her leading man, Ledger, on all the characteristics she looks for in a man. It may be lofty, but Ledger is her ideal. When tabloid bad boy Liam Hamilton is given the role, Chloe is not kind with her reaction not knowing she is on speaker phone and Liam is on the call. As he has already accepted this part, Chloe angsts that he cannot possibly portray the character accurately.
When Liam arrives in Stillwater, NC, well before filming begins, he encounters Chloe in a crazy afternoon meeting and they decide to call a truce leading to an unlikely alliance to help each other. From this point a beautiful story unfolds as two improbable people begin an unexpected adventure.
Again Ms. Hunter has written a lovely book about real people finding their ways in an often unkind world. This book looks inadvertently at the negative effects of social media and tabloids and the dangers of the anonymous comments sending daggers to the hearts of real people. This is currently a very serious social problem that has been well addressed. Ms. Hunter has presented a well scripted story that I very much enjoyed and do recommend!
I just finished this audiobook and well, I couldn't concentrate on anything but listening to the story! I loved it! I really loved the Hollywood Bad Boy vs Good Southern Girl! The characters were well fleshed out and I followed the storyline completely! The narrator was amazing and helped the story move along! Enjoy!
Thanks to NetGalley! All opinions are my own.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I listened to it on audio and it was SO GOOD! I loved the characters and the storyline was beautiful! It reminded me of the Disney Movie "Starstruck." Chloe Anderson is a writer and her book turns into a movie. Liam Hamilton is a movie star who is not who everyone thinks he but that is a good thing. Chloe and Liam end up in a PR relationship when they start working on her book being turned into a movie. Once into the story, you learn about both of their family backgrounds. The audio narrator does such an amazing job with telling the story! It made me feel like I was really in Stillwater, North Carolina! As you get further into the story, you start to see Chloe and Liam's real feelings for each other. Will they stay a couple? Will they break up? Will he leave after the movie is finished? You need to read this amazing book to find out!
Really lovely romance novel. Good characters, interesting plot, manages to be romantic without being saccharine. I will definitely be reading more of this author's work.
Thank you Net Galley and Publisher for advanced reading of this audiobook. This could be a Hallmark movie. An author’s book is becoming a movie being filmed in her small hometown. Narrator does a good job putting you right into the book.
Very sweet and clean romance between small town girl & author Chloe Anderson and Hollywood star Liam Hamilton. Both had a hard time trusting others so it was a somewhat bumpy ride for their relationship. Perfect ending though and the setting was wonderful too!
I read and listened to the audio book and really enjoyed it. Kathleen McInerney is one of my favorite narrators so the time listening went by fast!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"Love, Unscripted" by Denise Hunter is an audiobook that tells the love story of an actor named Liam and a writer named Clohe. The two of them start a fake relationship to boost their social media ratings, but it quickly turns into a genuine romance. However, Liam's celebrity status causes more heartbreak and drama for the young lovers.
The story revolves around a book that Clohe wrote, which was picked up by a movie producer. Liam is cast as the main character, but Clohe is unsure if he is the right fit for the role. They work together to ensure that Liam lives up to her character and to improve his reputation. As they spend time together, Liam wins Clohe's heart.
However, their love is tested when secrets from Clohe's mother's past come to light. Liam flies off to California, leaving Clohe behind to face the judgment of her community. Clohe eventually flies out to find Liam and confess her love for him, and they reunite with a passionate kiss.
The audiobook is captivating and keeps the listener enthralled. Liam's love for Clohe is enviable, and the voice actress does an excellent job of bringing the story to life. Overall, "Love, Unscripted" is a beautiful love story that will leave you wanting more.
Love, Unscripted is a delightfully charming small town romance that will have you cheering for the unlikely pair at its center. Denise Hunter has crafted an utterly engaging story filled with witty banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and a heartwarming opposites attract romance that simply sizzles with chemistry.
Chloe Anderson is an endearing heroine—a relatable romantic who poured her dream man onto the page in her latest novel, only to be dismayed when her novel’s perfect boyfriend lands in the hands of notorious bad boy actor Liam Hamilton for the movie adaptation.
Stuck with Liam playing the lead role, Chloe agrees to a fake relationship to help rehabilitate his image in the hopes it helps the press around the movie. For her side of the bargain, she’ll get more social media followers and grow her platform as an author. Forced to spend time together, Chloe begins to see a side of Liam that challenges everything she thought she knew about him.
The interactions between Chloe and Liam will have you grinning from ear-to-ear. But it’s the tenderhearted moments that stick with you. I also fell in love with the tiny town of Stillwater, North Carolina, Chloe’s hometown where the movie was being shot and longed to go shop in the cute little bookstore her best friend owns.
With an utterly swoon-worthy romantic lead, a big-hearted heroine you can’t help but root for, and a charming small-town setting, Love, Unscripted should be added to your TBR immediately.
Chloe is an author whose first book was very successful and is now being made into a movie. She doesn’t like Liam, the famous actor cast to play the role, because tabloids make him seem like a player and she thinks he’s the opposite of her character in real life. A picture is taken of them that makes it seem like they’re in a relationship so the publicity people encourage them to continue that image to help the movie be more successful.
It was really cute and romantic. Maybe not realistic or relatable but fun to read and totally clean. I’ll look for more by this author. 5 stars
I love small town romances. Chloe Anderson is the MMF who is a author who just wrote about that is turning into a movie because everyone went crazy over it. Liam Hamilton is the MMC who has been cast to star in her movie. Chloe is horrified. The are find themselves in a fake relationship for their own personal reasons. They form a friendship and their chemistry and banter evolve into something more. The narrator does a good job bringing the book to life.

#LoveUnscripted by #DeniseHunter. also narrated by #KathleenMcInerny in exchange for my honest review.
Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is a feel good audiobook about finding love when you least expect it. Chloe is an author whose book is being made into a movie. The star actor, Liam, is the last person she’d have chosen for her hero. However, the studio believes he is perfect. And he needs to do some damage control to his playboy image. The studio decides that a fake relationship between Chloe and Liam is just what they need. However, what starts out as a ploy quickly becomes more. But how can they make it work? And can they really trust each other? Listen now and find out! You’ll be glad you did!
"Love, Unscripted" takes a heartwarming look at the enemies-to-lovers trope, pairing a small-town, hard-working author, Chloe, with the playboy male lead, Liam, who is set to star in the film adaptation of her book. Of course, they get off to a rocky start, but then plan a fake-dating scheme that will help them each achieve what they need to career-wise.
Over the course of several weeks, what starts out as a purely business arrangement starts to take on more meaning for them both as the sparks continue to fly.
I really enjoyed the story and appreciated that the romance wasn't too spicy. This has been one of my favorite reads so far this year.
Thank you to Denise Hunter, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.
A small town author Chloe and the handsome actor Liam. First meet under not the best circumstances. The story line takes you into the life of an autohor who's book is made into a movie and Liam is the handsome actor that takes on the lead role. Can Liam live up to the expectations Chloe has for his character.
apparently not..... But can he prove her wrong......
It's easy listening excellent narration and excellent story line.
Love, Unscripted was a fun read/listen about a fake romance trope that eventually turns into a happy ever after. Chloe Anderson was dealing with a bad breakup when she wrote a book with her perfect boyfriend in it. It was a hit and resonated with women worldwide. The movie rights were quickly picked up and Hollywood is planning a major motion picture. Chloe is devastated to find out that bad boy, Liam Hamilton has been hired to play her ideal boyfriend. How could a player like Liam do the role justice. When she shares that with the producer, she is told that she is on speaker phone and Liam is there. Woops. Once she meets him, she doesn't change her mind, but will do whatever she needs to do to make the movie a success. When Liam's agent proposes a fake relationship to do both of them some good, he a nice girl to be in a relationship with, her to increase her social media following, they both reluctantly agree. As they spend more time together and share secrets, their feelings begin to change and become real. But, secrets often come out, and when they do, the relationship ends and they both suffer because of it.
Love, Unscripted is a cute romance with a handsome, swoon worthy, Hollywood hero and an introvert romance writer heroine. I enjoyed getting to know Chloe and Liam and watch their relationship blossom. The secondary characters were also interesting and added much to the story. Chloe's brother and BFF play important roles in the story and have their own little romance along the way. Secrets both bolster their relationship and almost derail it at one point, but feelings overcome and being honest with feelings is the way to go. Both characters had some hurts in their past to overcome and it is hard to deal with at times. Liam's mom is a piece of work, but she is realistic, it just made me angry. I found this a sweet story with friendship, family, honesty, forgiveness, tough love and more all coming together so that our main characters will have their happy ever after. I did a read/listen and enjoyed both formats. If you read, there are some discussion questions at the end for further thought or bookclubs. The narration was performed by Kathleen McInerney was excellent. I do enjoy her voice, tone, expression and story telling skills. If you enjoy a good, clean romance with great characters, then I recommend you pick this one up in whatever format you prefer.
He is a Hollywood bad boy, she is an introverted restauranteur/new romance writer who just landed a movie deal for her first book. Their fake romance quickly turns into more despite the fact that friends and family think they don’t belong together.
I need this narrator, Kathleen McInerney, to read all of my audiobooks! This was such a fun summer read. Perfect for the beach or lake. A definite must read/listen.
I was provided a copy of this audiobook from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
