This book adds a new dimension to definitions of types of leadership. This describes the type of leadership we all would love to have in our workplaces. It also provides practical steps one can take to reach the goal of the Virtue Proposition. I worked for a number of years for a company that worked everyday to reach similar goals as in this book. Leadership didn't describe it as virtue but lived and instructed leaders in a similar direction. It led to a very loyal group of employees who stayed with the company for 30 to 40 years. If you are interested in becoming the kind of leader that people will follow and emulate, this book is for you.
Who among us isn't looking for something that will bring everything together to make us better than we ever were? I knew that was true for me until I read this book. If you want to be a better person, this is the book for you.
In THE VIRTUE PROPOSITION, Sig Berg lays out foundational virtues for a powerful enterprise in business and in life: love, integrity, truth, excellence, and relationships. In clear, enjoyable, straightforward prose, he lays out the way these virtues are then embodied through practice, habituation, and accountability. While many of the companies I've worked with focus on one or two of the virtues, none have taken the holistic view espoused by Berg nor enjoyed the creativity, innovation, and winning results of doing so. A very valuable read and important addition to every leader's bookshelf. I received a copy of this book and these thoughts are my own, unbiased opinions.
