Description
A Library Reads Pick!
"Sexy, smart, playful, and poignant, DeWitt has created pure romance magic!" —Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of Love and Other Words
The all-new renovated edition with expanded scenes and bonus content!
They say love and construction don't mix. By that logic, hate and construction may as well be condemned.
LaRynn Lavigne and Deacon Leeds had one short and contentious summer fling when they were teens—certainly nothing to build a foundation on. But a decade later, when their grandmothers have left them with shared ownership of their dilapidated Santa Cruz building, they're thrust back together and have to figure out how to brace up the pieces.
LaRynn has the money, but in order to access her trust, she has to be married. Deacon has the construction expertise, but lacks the funds. A deal is struck: Marry for however long it takes to fix up the property, collect a profit, and cut ties.
Thrust into a home without walls, LaRynn and Deacon quickly learn that it's easy to hide behind emotional ones, even in a marriage. But with all the exposure and pitfalls that come with living with the opposite sex (and none of the perks, much to their growing mutual frustration) they'll also have to learn what it means to truly cooperate as a team.
Filled with crackling tension, The Co-op is a steamy second chance romance about restoration and renovation, and uncovering all the things that build character within ourselves. It's about the never-ending construction project that partnership is, and finding enjoyment at every stage.

Basically the review is this: if Tarah DeWitt writes it, I’m reading it.
I am an absolute sucker for a second chance romance. Throw in the fact that they have the most angsty, butterfly giving chemistry, oh and they have to get married in order to complete a joint renovation project.
Deacon and LaRynn both grow so much in this story and the sparks are off the charts. I love how attracted they are to one another but are hiding from their deeper feelings due to past hurts.
Forced proximity, marriage of convenience, spice…I could go on but this was just delightful and I can’t stress enough how amazing Tarah is at making characters that you can instantly fall in love with.
This is in fact Tarah’s best work. Just like the first time I read this story when it was indie published I was blown away by the magic that is this story. Deacon and LaRynn are so tender and sweet and so perfectly imperfect people who are just meant to be. This renovated version is exactly what I needed. The dual timeline is absolutely delicious. Deacon and LaRynn are HOT!! I know this is Tarah’s favorite book and don’t get me wrong she puts her ALL into all her books, but there is just something so special about this one.
Thanks to SMP for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Charming.
Second chance romance.
I adore this book. The writing is so smooth and effortless. You feel like you are a part of a movie.
The story of LaRynn and Deacon.
Two people who had trouble childhood. Parents that lead to some troubling aspects for them growing up. LaRynn always moved, pressure with perfection. She never felt that she was good enough. So it felt so good to see her blossom in this book. To find someone on her side that loves her sharp attitude and smooth edges the same. Someone that accepted her. And likewise Deacon found someone that accepted him.
Miscommunication could have definitely been a major trope but they communicated very openly so it was refreshing. Thru team work of re-innovating their home they fell in love with each other again.
I feel like the building was symbolic. Broken and in shamble it reflected the couples’ relationship and struggles, but as they fixed up the home - they eventually repaired their own relationship and wellbeing. A huge growth for both of them.
A beautiful story!
If HGTV made a show about someone flipping a house they owned with their ex, would you watch it?
If you answered yes, it’s time to pre-order The Co-Op. ✨

In true Tarah DeWitt fashion, this book will have you laughing out loud, squealing, kicking your feet, and possibly crying a few tears. If you’re like me and your love language is food, you also might have a sudden craving for deep-fried artichokes. 😂
Her ability to seamlessly intertwine romance with heavy topics, and comedy is what makes her a stand out author.
Just like all of Tarah’s books, you can read this one solo, but it pairs best with all of her other books.
I’ve had the pleasure of not only reading the original version of The Co-Op, but also had the honor of receiving an ARC of the remodeled version. (pun intended) 🏚️
Overall, I am SO glad I got to re-read this book, and I am super excited for my pre-ordered shelf trophy to arrive later this year because the new cover is STUNNING & is going to look so beautiful next to my copy of Savor It.
Thank you so much to Tarah & St Martins Press for providing me with this ARC. 🤍
My first book from this author and sure won't be my last. She wrote such an amazing second chance romance. I cannot wait for this to come out so I can also buy it as well.
Tarah Dewitt has a beautiful ability to imbue humor into her stories that make it so much fun and impossible to put down! I love a second chance romance, and Deacon and LaRynn have so much history and unresolved tension that you can feel it dripping off the page. I was crying and laughing and sweating my way through the whole thing. Definitely one of my top books of the year.
A classic lovely romance by Tarah with some deep feelings regarding the loss of beloved family members, which I can relate to very well, I loved the setting! Everything felt summery and sun kissed and slow and perfect.
Simply sensational. She has quick wit and depth like no other author I’ve ever read. This book is real and entertaining in every single way
“I don’t mind your mess.”
“I don’t mind yours, either, Rynn.”
The first book I read by Tarah was Savor It, and I loved its cozy, eccentric small town vibes so much that I was nervous to start this one. But I was so happily blown away by this book, I would rate this 6 stars if I could!
The way that Tarah writes grief and heartbreak should honestly be studied; it’s always so well done and handled with care. Dual timelines are always a risk in books, but this one was woven into the present storyline perfectly in my opinion!
LaRynn and Deacon are easily some of my new favorite book MC’s! I love a black cat girl who is secretly soft, and LaRynn was so well written. From all of her sharp, prickly edges to her sensitive heart that lay underneath it all, she was such a relatable and multifaceted character. Deacon was a surprise for me! He had so many layers to him that made him too complex to be simply labeled as a golden retriever, and it was so refreshing.
And their BANTER??? God tier🔥🔥🔥
As much as I loved seeing them get under each other’s skin (like giggling and kicking my feet an absurd amount kind of love), it was their overall growth that made me fall in love with them. The way that they never thought the other needed fixing, and how they loved the “hard” things about each other was extremely healing for me.
The re-release of The Co-Op is out November 12th and available for preorder now!
