Description
Deja Ross is a seventh-grade cryptozoologist. That means she loves monsters… and hopes to someday prove they're real!
On a long family road trip, she pulls out her new video camera to search for legendary creatures at every stop. One night, Deja sneaks out of the RV and meets the Texas chupacabra face-to-face! In her excitement to meet an actual cryptid, she charms the beast out of eating her. It turns out that mythological animals are not only real… they can talk. And maybe it’s time for their stories to be heard!
Deja and her furry new friend hatch a plan to interview the rest of the cryptid community. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones on the trail… and some other monster-hunters don’t have intentions as pure as Deja’s. Has she led her beloved beasts into a trap?
Critically acclaimed graphic novelist Lisa Naffziger (Minus) presents a page-turning adventure that celebrates friendship, curiosity, and the most adorable critters you’ve never seen.

My love for cryptids knows no bounds. I enjoyed this graphic novel immensely. The art was well done and I loved the featured cryptids and the fact that they got to tell a little of their backstory. The message that humans can do more harm than good to things that they do not understand or that sometimes humans are motivated by greed resonated throughout. I hope we see more Deja Ross cryptid adventures in the future!
This is a really fantastic graphic novel about a girl who just wants to learn about cryptids. While traveling around with her family, she tries to meet them and learn about their lives.
The illustrations are great and I loved Deja and her family. Deja is smart, independent, and brave, and her family is loving and supportive. And the cryptids are hilarious!

I have loved Lisa Naffziger's art for years, so finally reading a full graphic novel by her was an absolute treat. This is the perfect way to entertain your monster loving kid. Funny, spooky, creative, and genuinely hearwarming.
As a kid this would have been my favourite book of all time, as an adult it still hits!
