Description
I'm Becs, and I'm a Summoner.
I can call Powers—fae, demons and the like—to the mortal plane. Does this always go the way I want?
No. No, it does not. It's caused a lot of complications. Just ask anyone who knows me.
Fortunately, I've got a host of friends, a gorgeous boyfriend, a magic shop, and an over-eager magic wand with an itch for dark witches. What I don't have is my dearest friend, Pinky, because the six-foot-tall fairy returned to the Fae Lands after he sacrificed his magic to help capture a dangerous djinn.
I'm battered and bruised but I made a solemn vow—a literal pinky promise—to find a way to restore my friend's magic, and I am determined to do it—even if it means facing the terrifying Queen of All Faerie, Queen Titania herself.
But that's not my only problem. The djinn magic infected the tether between Earth and Faerie. If the bindings's not restored, it could mean the end of both worlds. No pressure.
Every time I think I've got things sorted out, something else happens, and the laws of unintended consequences follow me like a dog looking for a bone.
Speaking of which, King Oberon just dropped off a huge Irish Wolfhound puppy, and I haven't the faintest idea what to feed her. It's going to take more than a little magic to pull this off.

I have a few series that I keep forgetting how much I love (probably because I read too much), and this is one of those. Becs is a wonderful character, and she is so loving and caring about everyone she meets. She wants to do good things, not bad things, but she finds herself doing that once in a while against her better judgement. I loved this addition to the series, and I just love the new character, Freesia; she’s so bada$$. I have to admit that Asher is getting on my last nerve, and he needs to…well, read this and find out. After that ending, I am on tenterhooks wanting to find out what comes next. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This series has gotten me completely addicted and no amount of bad decisions by main characters can shake me loose. It might go without saying, but you should start at the beginning here - if you somehow picked this book up first, I don’t know what to tell you.
Becs and her big mouth have committed her to somehow restoring Pinky’s powers, that he expended so completely to rescue… everyone. On top of that commitment, her dream walking friend has just informed her that she’s also got to do the one thing she swore to never do again - visit Faerie. She somehow needs to convince the queen to help them repair the connective tissue between Earth and her world, to save them both. Oh, and Becs gets a dog. That’s important.
Also very important is the bizarre love triangle-ish thing happening between a possibly reformed mobster (who started the whole trip to Pinky losing his powers) and Asher, the ex-angel. I completely thought this book was going to be Asher tripping over himself to become powerful again but instead it really surprised me. No spoilers, but it’s a good ride to get there. I can almost support the rationale - almost! I can’t wait for the next book to see how they get out of this messy not-really-a-true-cliffhanger ending.
A book this fun should be illegal! The whole snarky crew gets entangled with Fairy and the ever evil queen in the search to regain Pinkie's power and also save the world. So, not much to ask, even with all of Fairy against them. But watch out for those Fae loopholes!
