Description
Fear Dynamics is a portrait of transformation. It’s also an invitation to readers—whatever obstacles they’ve had to overcome—to embrace the self-help techniques that Stephen J. Dietrich, JD, developed and applied during his darkest hours.
The past has already been written, but the author offers an empowering new script for anyone seeking to acknowledge, accept, and overcome pain that has become part of their story. A successful corporate attorney at one of the nation’s preeminent law firms, Stephen unabashedly shares his journey of overcoming childhood neglect and abuse. Instead of trying to bury the past, he guides readers in recognizing fear and anxiety and reengineering it into poise, confidence, and eventually even happiness.
Through years of reflection and intention, Stephen created and adapted tools to turn counterproductive thoughts and behaviors into strengths. The Fear Dynamics Techniques revealed in these pages empowered him in personal and professional situations and can potentially save the reader years of struggle and frustration.
Fear Dynamics is an open discussion about the author’s past, providing readers with valuable lessons to use in their own lives. This book shows how embracing the past can lead to a fulfilling life, enabling us to be comfortable in our own skin, build a better future, and a truer version of ourselves.

I thought this would be another book with tips for facing your fears. Instead I read a story about the author and all that he faced in his life that led him to become the person he is today. He writes about his childhood and healing and marriage and fatherhood and his career. He ties it all into a fascinating and relatable book full of hope. I’m so glad I picked this book to read. I found this super interesting and found so many relatable reflections in my own life. It definitely gave me so much to think about, along with new tools to improve my everyday life.
The tile of Fear Dynamics and the descriptions of the book do not fully grasp what this book is about.
First of all, CW.
This is a slim, well-organised and written book about trauma, how to overcome it, how to take charge of it.
I was sorry to read what had happened to the author and was happy to read that it did not define him.
There some great insights in this book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book was a bit more about trauma than I expected going in so I was glad there is a short list of helplines in the introduction for those who need support after reading. I liked the mix of anecdotal text and techniques, it felt like the author struck the right balance between the two. I also liked the way that bits the author feels are important are pulled out with a yellow box and bigger text to put the emphasis on for readers.
