Description
Happiness has never knocked on Bailey's door. When her fiancé betrays her, just four days before their wedding, she vows to turn her luck around once and for all. With a vision of an improved future, free of abusive, cheating boyfriends, she sets off on a journey of self-discovery with hope in her heart and a pocketful of her ex's money. Totally unprepared for the tidal wave of emotions plaguing her along the way, she settles in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where repeated encounters with a mysterious man make her shiver and not in a bad way. Maybe someday she'll stop looking over her shoulder. Maybe someday she'll find her happily ever after.
Content to be left alone after a devastating loss that irrevocably changed his life, Colton is perplexed by the explosion of attraction he experiences every time he crosses paths with the gorgeous and intriguing new girl in town. Her allure and naivete arouse his curiosity but he remains steadfast in his conviction that women are only interested in him for his money. But . . . if he could find the perfect life partner, he just might take a chance even if it means risking everything.
Can two lonely souls, betrayed by the people they loved and trusted the most, learn to love again? Find out in Broken Ties, the sequel to award-winning The Ties That Bind, the second installment of the Family Ties series heralding the power of the human spirit and love's ability to heal all wounds.
Advance Praise
""Author Jansen Schmidt has lovingly crafted a powerful tale of love, trust, and healing, exploring the profound impact of betrayal on two wounded souls with a keen sense of emotional resonance and personal growth. The characters, Bailey and Colton, are intricately developed, each carrying scars from their pasts that strongly impact their attitudes, reservations, and actions. The narrative delves into their individual struggles with a rare brand of honesty but also explores the possibility of love and redemption in a realistic way that's never idealized or romanticized too much. The strong atmospheric choices in the language used to describe the setting add a layer of charm to the story, creating a backdrop that mirrors the characters' emotional journey from brokenness to healing beautifully. Schmidt delivers a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged and invested in the characters' quest for love and restoration. Overall, I would certainly recommend Broken Ties as a poignant experience, filled with emotional depth and memorable moments of realistic drama."" - Readers Favorite 5-stars

When Bailey Philipelli arrives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she is fleeing one more devastating event in her young life. With no plan to remain there, she soon feels comfortable in this small community and finds friends at the local restaurant and bar. Meeting local man Colton “Cole” Kintala brings a feeling of attraction that she had not expected, especially after her recent anguish. She knows that she shouldn’t stay in one place as her ex will be searching for her, but she is finally enjoying some peace and a promising chance at a new job, a future and maybe love? She realizes that her new boss seems attracted to her, but between her interest in Cole and the chance to move forward and succeed it is too much to ignore. She hopes to be safe and have a better future, finally. When the past comes back to threaten her, will she have to run again and leave Cole behind? I had not read anything by this author, but I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the first book in this series, “The Ties That Bind”. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
