Description
Otto The Top Dog is a delightfully funny tale about kindness and sharing from CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal winner Catherine Rayner, the creator of Arlo the Lion Who Couldn’t Sleep.
This is Otto. Otto loves a lot of things, but nothing more than his beloved basket - and he's more than happy to share! A sweet, humorous and beautifully illustrated tale of a sausage dog who just can't say no.
After Otto invites one of his friends to share his comfy basket, word quickly spreads around the neighbourhood. Soon he's sharing his cosy bed with all the dogs in the area, even taking in the local strays! Before he knows it, everyone is having the best sleep in his beloved basket: everyone, but Otto! Will Otto ever get his basket back to himself? And will he still like it if he does . . .
Otto is a delightfully funny tale that will entertain young readers, while showing them that while it's fun to share, sometimes too much of a good thing isn't so great either!

I am a massive Catherine Rayner fan. She is the master of texture art and, of course, animal illustration. This story, like all of her others, is relateable, well paced and the characters are all loveable - especially our main star.
This was such a cute story I can’t wait to read it to my child before bed! We are big dog lovers in this house! And I love love then illustrations!
Oh, what a wonderful tale! Otto The Top Dog by Catherine Rayner is absolutely delightful.
Otto is a cute little dachshund who really love his comfy basket. As his friends hear about it, they ask to see it and as time goes by they there’s always more dogs sleeping in his basket and poor Otto can’t sleep anymore…
This is a very cute story about friendship and sharing. Kids will love it and so did I!
Thank you. NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.
Gorgeously illustrated, Otto The Top Dog is a sweet little book that is sure to please pup-loving little ones. Where this title shines is truly in its playful illustrations and exploration of the importance and value of sharing in friendship. This title just fell a little bit flat for me in terms of pacing, and does not feel overly memorable, but a great title nonetheless.
