You know that feeling you get when just a short way into a book you realise it’s going to be unputdownable? Into the Storm is that with bells on. The story delves deep into the psyche of its protagonist, deeply troubled Dr Enya Pettigrew, and the consequences of the choices she makes in her life.
Enya is driving through a wild, heavy rainstorm at night when she comes upon an accident. A young boy is lying on the road, the victim of a hit and run. Enya does CPR which keeps the boy alive until an ambulance arrives. That is the beginning of the story. The drama, the ups and downs and the twists and turns which follow are completely engrossing, and unpredictable. Enya has many issues she is trying to resolve by herself, and nothing comes easily for her.

The (mostly) dark, gloomy, wet Irish weather provides a terrifically atmospheric background, together with folklore in the form of old writings by Enya’s mother, and a mysterious ancient tree. There is no knowing which way the story is going to go, right up to the end of the book. I still didn’t want it to end, though. I could have gone on reading Cecelia Ahern’s fascinating words for a lot longer.

There are some brilliant Irish women writers, and Cecelia Ahern is one of the best. Readers of beautifully written, psychological fiction are going to love this book.

A GP, a rainy night, a marriage in trouble and a distant teenager all come together in a storm to create this gem. Cecelia Ahern has brought together an eclectic group of characters and situations in a rural town and given us all someone to root for. The plot is excellent and there are a few twists and turns. The ‘rag tree’ was a new concept to me but such a beautiful aspect to include.

Thank you Ms Ahern for yet another great read.

Into the Storm by Cecelia Ahern is an incredibly emotional read. Heartbreaking and yet uplifting. Out of bad things goods things can come.

This story is set in Ireland and embodies a lot of Irish folklore. At the centre of the story is Dr Enya Pickering and The Rag Tree - both embedded with emotional baggage. Enya is complex and so is her story. It is also about the love of mothers, mental health especially dealing wth trauma and the search for ones true self.

The plot is complex with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The characters felt real and believable and add depth to the storyline.

Highly recommended read.

This is a book that grabbed my attention from the start and kept me on edge throughout. There is so much going on in the book and story, a lot of drama, emotion, tension and of course family dynamics. There are twists and turns and the characters are all have there own personalities which come through on the pages of this book.

Intriguing, interesting and a book you can't stop reading. A great read.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love Cecelia Ahern's writing style so as soon as I say she had a new book I was thrilled!
And this sure doesn't disappoint.

I was hooked from the start, right there with Enya in the storm, tending an injured boy in the middle of the road.
Then her move to Abbeydooley to try and sort herself out with all the wonderful characters she meets.

The twists and turns of this story certainly keep you guessing.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for the digital ARC. All opinions are my own.

A emotional mystery that will grip you so tight that you can't breathe. She is a GP and she fights to keep a young boy alive in the pouring rain. I love how intense the plot is and becomes as the characters developed. It's a emotional ride with twists that tear at you.
