Oh this book came at such a perfect time for reading. My parents have had a long year of both their moms falling and being in rehab. This book just was so full of great information and hope and direction. Wonderfully done.
I read the book from the perspective of someone who wants to learn more about a caregiver's perspective as well as the values in care, the challenges caregivers face and and the dynamics of care relationships. As this isn't the book's primary focus, my personal motivation to read it does not influence my rating.
The book is both easy to understand and eloquently written. It is well-structured, offering a comprehensive overview of various crucial topics that caregivers encounter.
It covers a wide range of subjects, including aging, illnesses, and conditions, and provides advice on how to support loved ones in different situations. The book discusses medication management, creating a caregiving action plan, handling finances, and navigating legal matters. Additionally, it addresses the various relationships that play a role in caregiving and offers supportive advice to caregivers, showing a deep understanding of their situation that is also based on the author's own experiences.
The author employs respectful and empathetic language, complemented by inclusive illustrations featuring various ethnicities and genders.
I believe this book provides excellent practical advice for those in caregiving roles and helps them feel seen and understood.
