Description
The proven, easy-to-understand guide for building a successful tech startup
Today, the opportunity to innovate is plentiful—but the cash to make it happen is scarce. The Tech Entrepreneur’s Survival Guide gives readers the tools they need to succeed.
From piecing together early capital to revisiting donors for more money to compensation packages to right-sizing a company, The Tech Entrepreneur’s Survival Guide offers a war chest of the tactical money moves every entrepreneur needs. Each chapter presents solutions to real-world issues with potentially fatal consequences in the lifecycle of a tech venture, such as:
• Building a well-rounded founding team
• Leveraging funding sources for more than money
• Setting up shop for maximum efficiency and minimal frills
• Seizing M&A opportunities, possibly before there’s product, revenue, and profitability
• Retaining key talent at critical phases, and showing others the door
• Assimilating to corporate life in the earn-out years
Bernd Schoner, Ph.D., worked in the Physics and Media Group and the Things-That-Think research consortium at the MIT Media Laboratory where he received his Ph.D. Upon graduating, he cofounded the high-tech startup ThingMagic, which nearly ten years later sold to Trimble Navigation, a multibillion-dollar public technology company. Schoner now serves as the VP of Business Development at Trimble Navigation. He lives with his wife in New York City and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
