I would like to extend my gratitude to the author for this profound body of work. I am grateful that Net Galley offered this right when I need it. Facing my second year without my most cherished companion and service cat, I found this a useful guide to navigation of grief. Having gone through a year long cancer illness then death my cat fought for her life and wanted to live. We did not do treatment other then simple symptom control meds, We did sunshine daily with walks in the garden, cuddled up in her favorite blanket, treats and bird watching. All the fun things she loved to embrace in life. I gave her last months all she loved. She was a force of nature and a delight in every way. She survived her first cancer with a amputation so the unfairness of her death hit me lilke no other elderly cats I had in the past. She had no chance to live to old age and that is hard to accept for our closest beloved companions. . This grief is unrelenting pain and so very difficult to navigate. I found this book so comforting and the author very relatable as one who loved and lost her own closest feline companion. My cat will also be my last as I cannot go through this pain again in life. As you read this you will reflect on your own past cats and your contribution to their lives which is so critically important when grieving. I would suggest that doing a memory photo album is a great comfort as well as creating a alter for your cat in your home that is beautiful and honors them. I find comfort in creating her photos and having a photo gallery of all our adventures together.
Thank you to the author, to Net Galley and to the publisher for gifting me this amazing book.

From honoring your kitty’s memory to finding peace after their passing, this book is packed with love and practical tips. If you need a little help mending your heart, this gem is your go-to! 🌈📖
I was fighting back the tears as I started to read this book. Anyone who has ever loved a kitty, or any other animal, has probably had to deal with death. It is the price we pay. Having had one pet go from lingering old age, another from a sudden infection and a third unexpectedly in the middle of the night, I have experienced the losses in slightly different ways. We each feel things differently and deal with things differently. There is no right or wrong way and the pain is not linear. The one that I am fearing most is the one that will come when I must say goodbye to Princess Fuzzypants. She has over 29,000 followers on FaceBook who love her almost as much as me. She is and always has been a special needs cat so it has been harder this time to take care of her. I know that I do not have the reserves to take on the responsibility and do it right again. She will be my last but, if there is such a thing, she is the one that I will hold dearest for the rest of my life. It is she I will look for first at the Rainbow Bridge.
There is no way to prepare for her demise. I know that. But there are some very good suggestions in the book and I do think there is great value in sharing the grief experience. If I had any doubts, being on FaceBook with such a popular page has proven we are anything but alone. Cat pages are filled the kindest and most giving people. It is social media at its best.
While I think there is much to recommend the book, I must confess I found the repetition of certain phrases and sentences, word for word, disconcerting. It detracted slightly from my reading enjoyment but the material itself compensated for any shortcomings. I would have given the book five purrs out of five but must dock it half a purr for that one thing. It is written with great heart. It should be read the same way. I know Princess Fuzzypants would give it five purrs and two paws up.
