Whoa! A buddy comedy for kids featuring an iguana and a pot bellied pig is an awesome ride. This comic got it all: action, comedy, horror, lost love, music, and a prophecy (!?). I like the idea that this is a comic written by the two protagonist which is a bit of "fourth wall"ing. The graphic novel feels like you're watching an animated movie. I like how the author cut it into chapters. The chapter stories supplement the main story which are not a bunch of random and irrelevant goofing off of the duo. It really helps built it up till the climax of the book.
The zaniness and silliness of the two are superb. Their is no dull moments when they are together and of course the story. They have this chemistry that kids will talk about after they finish this comic. I never thought that a pot bellied pig and an iguana could be something of a star of a book.
I thought at first it will artwork will be colored as I start reading, it's in black and white but still it's great. The combination of sequential panels and text is not overwhelming to read. The artwork reminds me of Regular Show.
Over all The Unpetables Vol. 2 hits all of what I expect of a great comic for kids: entraining, funny and will drive you to their next adventure! THE UNPETABLES FOREVER!
