Description
From a veteran CIA lawyer, a provocative analysis of the cases against two presidents for mishandling classified documents and a call to action against an American justice system that is spinning out of control.
The politicization of the Justice Department is not new. But on August 8, 2022, when armed FBI agents raided the home of former President Donald Trump—alleging violations of the Presidential Records Act and the Espionage Act—the nation’s top law enforcement organization’s weaponization reached new heights.
The FBI seized approximately 130,000 documents, about 100 of which bore classification markings. President Biden publicly criticized Trump for being reckless, but soon thereafter, over 100 classified documents, with dates spanning five decades, were discovered in Biden’s possession. Trump was indicted for forty felonies. Biden was not charged.
Drawing on twenty-five years of experience, including working on high-level espionage investigations and prosecutions, veteran CIA lawyer Joseph B. Sweeney provides unprecedented insights and answers the big questions about the classified information cases against both presidents:
- In what ways were the cases different and handled differently?
- How did they compare to historical precedents?
- Was the handling of the cases politically biased?
- Can today’s judicial system fairly and impartially adjudicate cases involving high-profile political figures?
Dangerous Injustice is a rigorously argued, eye-opening insider’s view of how the modern American justice system really works (and doesn’t work) at the highest levels—and what we can do to save it.

Dangerous Injustice by Joseph B Sweeney
Dangerous Injustice is an extremely interesting and informative book about the history of classifies documents and the release of those documents, using cases where classified documents have been revealed. The book goes into detail about the PRA or Presidential Records Act as well as espionage as well as Hillary Clinton’s email leak and John Deutch.
This is definitely a book that people should read, to truly understand the scope and depth of the corruption in our government, and how a politically motivated witch hunt can lead to entirely different outcomes and consequences. I found it extremely interesting that Biden had outstanding books that the Executive Secretary Team raised concerns about, yet he was able to take more classified documents out and not return them, and then returning them with missing content.
This is definitely an eye opening book.
I truly enjoyed reading this book, which gives the inside story regarding the DOJ's major misconduct regarding its "lawfare" against Mr. Trump and its non-action regarding Mr. Biden and his family. After you read this wonderfully written book you will want to pull the entire DOJ out root and branch.
This is an amazing book. It is written with facts and logic, two things largely absent in today's political narratives.
Joseph Sweeney has credentials. He's not a journalist or a political appointee. He is an attorney with 25 years as the General Counsel for the CIA. He knows of what he writes.
After a strong opening, the book meanders through a few lesser cases before getting to the main event . . . . lawfare against President Trump. The opening cases, while seemingly insignificant at first reading, actually set the stage for the ultimate comparisons and revelations.
Sweeney writes, "We need to debate with open minds instead of just hurling talking points at each other like primates. Be leery of anyone who expresses strong opinions but won't debate or defend them.
"We must practice the uniform vigilance George Washington implored us to adopt, so many years ago, to protect us from ourselves and to ensure than no reigning political party can ever again abuse out justice system to seek political vengeance or retain power."
Read this book and have your politically inclined friends read it. Then discuss it, with rational conversation.
