Description
Hank is a super loud, super rude goose, and his friends are fed up! Can he learn to be less honk and more heart?
Hank is one rude goose. He doesn't see anything wrong with interrupting others when they're speaking. He helps himself to the cherries on the top of other people's cupcakes. He makes loud noises in the library and movie theater...and he's upsetting everyone!
But being rude, loud, and obnoxious can't always be fun—in fact, it can be downright lonely. Will Hank find a way to be more considerate of his friends? Kids will love Hank's hilarious antics and silly noises, brought to life with vibrant, whimsical illustrations that pop off the page. Grown-ups will appreciate the lessons of friendship, recognizing others’ feelings, and being considerate of those around us.
Advance Praise
Hank Goes Honk recounts the brightly illustrated journey of Hank, a constantly honking, balloon-popping goose, as he tries to become less obnoxious (which, the book helpfully points out for younger readers, ""means extremely unpleasant, which means not nice""). With jagged red shapes sometimes silhouetting Hank's honking form and the honks actually staining the ground in his wake, Beedie really captures the destruction of Hank's obnoxiousness. But this is not just a redemption story of a disruptive goose mending his ways to find friends; it's also a story that explains how letting go of bad habits doesn't have to happen in a straight line. Just because Hank returns to his honking ways briefly doesn't mean that he can't do his best to get a little less obnoxious every day, and, even more importantly, it doesn't mean his newfound friends will write him off. The book ends on a cliff-hanger, with the clear message that self-improvement is possible." --Booklist (9/15/2024)

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC - all opinions are my own.
Both my two children and I really enjoyed "Hank Goes Honk"!
The illustrations really made the stop come alive right off the pages.
Creative and relatable, we all enjoyed Hank's complications with interuppting others when going HONK!
I also loved how my children continued the conversation about the books message well after we finished reading this title.
"Hank Goes Honk" was a very adorable story about an obnoxious goose trying to learn how to be a friend. I liked that the story illustrated that nobody is going to be perfect overnight and that changing behavior takes time. People will make mistakes but can keep moving forward. I also loved the artwork!
This is a fun picture book that children will love to read. My library will definitely be buying this book. I can't wait to see children love it as much as I did!
Hank is a bad goose! This was such a funny, silly book about Hank the Goose. Hank needs to learn to be a good goose, he is doing his best!
Nicely illustrated and written. Perfect for story time for the little kids at a library.
As a former early childhood educator, I care deeply about the messages of Children's books and what the kids are likely to take away from them. This book strikes a lovely balance between being funny, colorful, and providing thoughtful learning about how we impact those around us. I appreciate that Hank the Goose wanted to change his behavior and that he was not immediately perfect. I love that the desire to change is self-motivated and that when he makes mistakes, the message is to take a breath and try again. This is a 10/10 for me! This is everything I want in a children's book.
Hank the goose doesn’t just go honk: He interrupts, hordes the goodies and provides lessons on how not to be obnoxious in general. Author Maudie Powell-Tuck and illustrator Duncan Beedie combine to make a most delightful book to teach youngsters polite behavior.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, Publisher Spotlight and Tiger Tales in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley, Publisher Spotlight - Tiger Tales, and Maudie Powell-Tuck for the early access copy of Hank Goes Honk.
Hank Goes Honk is a story of a goose who has some obnoxious behaviors. Hank tries to learn how to be more mindful towards others, but changing habits isn’t always the easiest.
Hank Goes Honk will be a fabulous read aloud with engaging illustrations, funny text, and great lessons. The story can be used as a tool to teach how your actions impact others, changing behaviors to be more mindful of those around you, failing, and trying again after failure.
I adored this beautifully illustrated picture book about an annoying goose named Hank! This book is funny with colorful imagery and a perfectly unlikeable main character who teaches young readers the importance of being considerate to others in an easy to read and relatable way. Parents and children alike are sure to enjoy reading this one. Highly recommended, especially for fans of The Pigeon books by Mo WIllems. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
